Business Sales In January SUCKED, Why?

For the first time EVER in seven years of business, I have experienced a decline in sales for the month of January 2013 compared to January 2012.

Every single year, sales have increased every single month...up until now. I saw a 6% drop in sales for the month of January.

What's wrong? December 2012 was my BEST month ever! And now this?

My business has thrived through the worst economic downturn in American history since the Great Depression, so last month was quite confusing.

I came home tonight and read this article posted on Drudge:

Higher Payroll Tax Pinches Those With the Least to Spare

"Jack Andrews and his wife no longer enjoy what they call date night, their once-a-month outing to the movies and a steak dinner at Logan’s Roadhouse in Augusta, Ga."

"Like millions of other Americans, they are feeling the bite from the sharp increase in payroll taxes that took effect at the beginning of January. There are growing signs that the broader economy is suffering, too."

"If you wanted to design a policy to squeeze the spending of lower- and middle-income households, raising the payroll tax is the way to do it," said Ian Shepherdson, chief economist at Pantheon Macroeconomic Advisors. “It’s very regressive.”

"Monthly data for chain-store sales in January will not be released until later this week, but the weekly data already available for last month showed a steady deterioration in shopping activity."

“There is something going on,” said Chris G. Christopher Jr., senior principal economist at IHS Global Insight.

“The payroll tax seems to be cutting into things.”

No kidding. Americans simply have less money to spend, because the government needs more.

In the article above, a man who makes $40,000 annually, will now have $800 less per year ($66 per month) to spend. Something had to give, and what he did give up was his monthly night out with his wife. Whatever restaurant they frequented every month no longer has their business, because they can't afford it.

As a result of having my first, "regressive," month ever...my employees suffered the most, because I had to cut their hours, and now they have less money to spend too...AND the state I reside in takes a hit too because sales tax revenues go down with lower sales, and fewer payroll hours.

Just wait until the Obamacare TAX kicks in....

We are literally paying for our own destruction.

Eventually...and hopefully sooner than later, a HUGE MOVEMENT is going to say ENOUGH, THAT'S IT...NO MORE TAXES which can be justified in the court of public opinion and jury trials.

I'm not paying my Income Tax anymore. Why? Because it's like giving a freaking Big Mac to my 450 lb obese child, that's why.

The US government needs to go on a diet, Uncle Sam does not need more cheeseburgers paid for by Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer.

If Uncle Sam does not soon go on a diet, our country is going to die.

Sucking off of the American Taxpayers fountain of money is not going to solve any problem, the free flow of our hard earned money to those who don't produce a damned thing is doing nothing but exacerbating the real problem - our out of control, OBESE government.

You should choose your words more carefully.

If it is "your" income tax, you'd best pay up or be prepared for jail time.

Now, if you don't owe the tax, it isn't "your's" and thus there's no reason to pay it.

On to other matters, consider yourself fortunate that you've seen YoY growth every month for the last 7 years.

In the business I work in, we've seen YoY decreases each month, some months as high as 22-48%, yes, 48% for 7 years RUNNING. (don't ask how we are still open, I have no idea) And that isn't adjusting for inflation by government or PM standards.

We were starting to level off last year, but then we had a weaker YoY November and December (which were usually always up unlike other months) down 15% and 11% each, and now a January 2013 that was down 23% and we're facing a 46% down February.

You just don't know misery yet. Count your lucky charms.

A Tax CUT would improve the economy.

Let Obama cut his 5 million dollar vacations.

Corporate and Social entitlements

Unconstitutional wars

Cut All the Departments outlined by Ron Paul

Can you imagine a Tax free year (kinda like the tax free day except for a year) Your paycheck would buy about 4 TIMES as much considering we pay about 50% in Tax and producers could cut costs by 50%.

Talk about a real stimulus!

This is Agenda 21. And it is everywhere.

Fact. =(

Sorry it has hit you. It will get worse.

Purposeful destruction of the economy, and we've not seen anything yet. Take a look around at all the grants being awarded to corporations locally btw... Thst is a big part of it. Cleverly disguised as "economic development" and "sustainability".

Please, if you are not aware - well aware - enough to see it almost every time you pick up a newspaper... do some research. Democratsagainstagenda21.com is a very good resource. Rosa Koire. There are others, but IMO she is easily understood and has pulled it together well. Watch her videos.

Look around. Once you understand it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Do you think this Is this a good resource

to get my wife on board. Need something to wake her up. She refuses to discuss anything negative or scary.

I will check it out.

probably - but of course I don't know your wife...

I left out 'un' - the site is democratsagainstunagenda21.com - sorry!

There is a lot of good info available but I think Koire does a great job explaining it. I bought her book (read it, passed it on) and it is a pretty good 'eye opener' resource IMO, yeh.

Taxation is unethically premised upon coercion and should be abolished
