Need 215 right?

218 is majority

but they will likely need 2/3 vote to pass, which would be 290.

If it comes up for a vote, it will likely pass with more than 290 but pressuring Democrats to support the bill is key because a lot of them eventually run for Senate and that's where this bill has been stuck. Several Democrats who voted for the bill in the House in 2012 are now Senators and it would be difficult for them to flip flop (though wouldn't be surprising).

This already passed the House. Look at the dates.

The effort by Rand Paul to force a vote in the Senate by holding up Janet Yellen's appointment failed. It looks like it will languish in the committee stages just like so many of Ron Paul's bills.

http://www.paul.senate.gov/files/documents/Reid_Yellenletter...

The lack of action with regard to the Fed is disappointing given that it is the spider at the centre of the web. Destroy the Fed and the whole system will fail. Ron Paul I believe understood this fact.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

The bill passed the House in the 112th Congress

We are now in the 113th Congress and need to pressure the House to bring up the bill again for a vote. There are many freshmen Reps who need to be placed on the record of where they stand.

I suspected as much.

However why not start a new thread with the relevant information for the progress of the bill through the House. Using old information confuses the issue.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

What old information?

HR 24 is the Audit the Fed bill in the 113th Congress.

The OLD Audit the Fed bill was HR 459 in the 112th Congress. I haven't posted anything here related to HR 459.

When I said "The bill passed the House in the 112th Congress", I meant to imply that the OLD bill passed the House in 2012. This bill here, HR 24, is the new bill for this Congress.

Then it is I who am confused.

The 113th. Congress started in January 2013 and runs until January 2015. I thought this bill passed the House last year, 2013. Clearly I was wrong. I should have checked.

I was also puzzled that you were referring to the 113th. Congress as though you meant it started in January 2014. So the only one that was confused was me. That is now settled so thanks for being patient about this. We are both now on the same page.

P.S. One thought I just had is that I was under the impression that a Bill had to pass in either the Senate or the House first then go on to the other chamber. This is why I thought the bill had already passed the House in this Congress and had gone on to the Senate where it has been stuck. It would appear that I am mistaken about this as well. Do bills work through both the House and the Senate at the same time?

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Isn't 218 the magic number for congress...

...then the senate (oh Lord).

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." William Pitt in the House of Commons November 18, 1783
"I know major allies who fund them" Gen. Dempsey referring to ISIS

Two Words

Reid Obama

I'm holding my breath and counting the seconds.

No one expects the bill to pass the Senate this year

However, forcing a House vote gets everyone on the record. This is important because many House members decide later to run for Senate.

After the House vote in 2012, four Democrats who voted yes were elected Senators. It would be extremely tough for them to go back on their vote if and when the GOP wins the Senate.

12/4 Update +1 Cosponsor

Rep Grayson, Alan [FL-9] - 12/3/2013

Grayson was instrumental in Ron Paul's efforts to expose the Fed back in 2009-2010.

Wonders never cease.

"tea-party Mike" actually co-sponsored this bill. Wow, wonders never cease, lol

For those who don't know, I am referring to Mike Kelly R-PA3, who in 2012 had a whopping 70% DIS-approval rating according to FreedomWorks.

We'll wait and see what he really does in the end.

tea party is non-partisian

Yes, I am aware of that.

As you aware, Granger, I deal with them several times per week, in order to outreach and educate them. They have been coming around.

Still, I have no use for and will NEVER join "tea-party".

That word makes cringe more than the word obama GRRRRRR
