I'm on Rand Paul's email list and got an email yesterday saying:

"The vote on Janet Yellen's nomination to succeed Ben Bernanke is scheduled to take place in a matter of hours."

So what's the deal? and why is this site of all places not promoting this front and center?

Janet Yellen was confirmed on 1/6

by a vote of 56-26.

The key now is to pressure the House since they will most likely vote on the bill this year. Since many House members make the jump to Senate, we need to pressure them to get their support on the record. Remember, nearly 50% of House Democrats voted for the bill in 2012 and several of them are now in the Senate (ie, Tammy Baldwin, Chris Murphy, Martin Heinrich, and Joe Donnelly). If the Senate ever votes on the bill, it would be extremely tough for these Senators to vote against a bill they supported a couple years earlier.

Sen. Shelby [AL] - staff said he will vote no on yellen nom.
Asked to co-sponsor s.209. probably needs more calls.

Sen. Sessions [AL] - thanked for his support.

Thanks for update

For those calling Senator Shelby, remind his staff that he cosponsored the exact same bill in 2012. There shouldn't be any reason why he won't cosponsor the same bill this year.

Sen Moran, Jerry [KS] - 12/11/2013

You would need a veto-proof

You would need a veto-proof majority for this thing to see the light of day...

Southern Agrarian

true enough..

But it wouldn't be a bad thing if Obama was put in a position of having to veto it.

Janet Yellen's nomination hearing

is scheduled for Thursday, November 14.

Please call your Senators and urge them to support S. 209.

If your Senator is a Republican or one of the six Democrats on the list above, they are critical to Rand's effort to force a vote on S. 209.

11/1 Update +1 Cosponsor

Sen Scott, Tim [SC] - 10/31/2013

Have you contacted your Senators

Rand needs 40 other Senators to stick with him to FORCE a vote on Audit the Fed.

There's 44 Senators ON THE RECORD of supporting his bill (or the House bill from 2012, which has the exact same text). That doesn't include 7 other Republicans or vulnerable Democrats up for re-election who might support the bill.

We can force a vote on something Ron Paul has been fighting for for decades but we need people to contact their Senators.

You can also urge your reps to support it by...

following this link and submitting the petition. http://www.rand-2016.com/atf_2.aspx?pid=1030f

10/30 Update +1 Cosponsor

Sen Portman, Rob [OH] - 10/29/2013

There are 18 Senators who supported

Audit the Fed in the last Congress but have yet to cosponsor Rand's bill, S. 209, in this Congress.

If your Senator is on the list above, please call or email and urge them to support S. 209 (a bill they supported just last year).

Senator Feinstein's Response

Dear Mr. Lozancich:

Thank you for contacting me to express support for legislation to increase transparency at the Federal Reserve. I appreciate hearing from you, and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

I agree that the trillions of dollars deployed by the Federal Reserve to stabilize the economy should be accounted for. You may be interested to know that the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act (P.L. 111-203) included requirements for a complete audit of the Federal Reserve's emergency lending activities during the financial crisis. Specifically, this legislation required the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to publish a full audit of the loans and other assistance provided to financial institutions during the economic crisis. If you would like to read that report, it is available online through GAO's website at www.gao.gov/products/GAO-11-696. Additionally, this legislation gives GAO the ongoing authority to audit any future emergency lending activities.

Dodd-Frank did not authorize GAO to directly review key monetary policies such as the setting of interest rates. This restriction was maintained in order to protect the independence of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to set monetary policy without undue political influence. I believe this legislation takes appropriate steps to promote transparency in the use of public funds without politicizing monetary policy.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has introduced legislation that would require an additional audit of the Federal Reserve. The "Federal Reserve Transparency Act" (S. 209) would remove all existing restrictions on GAO audits, including confidentiality restrictions. I have some concerns that a more expansive audit, including a review of monetary policy, could prevent the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors from making key decisions free of outside political influence. This legislation is currently awaiting consideration in the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Development, of which I am not a member. However, please be assured that I will keep your support for this legislation in mind should it come before the full Senate for a vote.

Once again, thank you for writing. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

make key decisions "free of outside political influence" - this

is exactly why we need to audit them! Congress is supposed to know what's going on!!

If You Live in California...

Please contact Senators Boxer and Feinstein and ask them to co-sponsor S209. Boxer has co-sponsored Audit The Fed in the past. Feinstein is a long shot but it doesn't hurt to turn up the heat.

Halfway There If You Live in...

Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Dakota. You each have one Senator that has co-sponsored S209 - Audit The Fed. Please call the other.

Congratulations To the Citizens of the Following States

Idaho, Kentucky, Texas, Utah and Wyoming - both your senators have co-sponsored S209 - Audit The Fed!

Anyone live in the following states?

New Mexico

If so, one of your DEMOCRATIC Senators supported Ron Paul's Audit the Fed bill in 2012 when they were members of the House.

We need their support now that they are in the Senate. There's only been ONE Democratic cosponsor of Rand's bill during the last three years.

Please contact your Democratic Senator and urge him/her to cosponsor S. 209, which is the exact same bill they supported in 2012.

I'm from Wis and will be sure

I'm from Wis and will be sure to call both my Senators. Baldwin voted for it when she was in the House, and Ron Johnson is pretty good normally on votes. He might as well be good on this one too.

*Wisconsin Constitution* Article I, Section 25 "The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other law-abiding purpose"

There are still 19 Senators incl 5 Democrats

who voted for or cosponsored Audit the Fed in the last Congress who have yet to cosponsor S 209 in this Congress.

The 19 Senators are listed above. If your Senators are listed, please remind them to cosponsor S 209, which is the same bill they supported in the last Congress.
