Rand Paul Giving 'Tea Party Response' to Obama

President Obama will once again face two rebuttals, after his State of the Union address on Tuesday.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., will deliver the "tea party response" to Obama from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Tuesday night. Following in the footsteps of Rep. Michele Bachmann (2011) and Herman Cain (2012), who delivered the last two alternative State-of-the-Union responses, Paul's speech will be staged by the national tea-party election group Tea Party Express, the same group that sponsored the 2011 and 2012 rebuttals.

The problem is the mainstream

The problem is the mainstream is trying to demonize "tea partiers" as people who don't co-orperate with "the rest" of the politicians. LOL. Which is a joke, because as we know the tea party was taken over and split up by neocons, primarily. So the GOP allowing Rand to "fill the role" of the tea-partier may not be a positive thing. But, hopefully Rand can spin it in his favor.

Well done GOP. Excellent

Well done GOP. Excellent strategy. I think this means Chris Christie is forever out of favor in the republican party...

Paul and Rubio make the GOP's tent much bigger, and more welcoming.

Out with the old, and in with the new GOP. Goodbye Paul Ryan, goodbye Mitt Romney. Hello Marco, hello Rand!

I hope Paul and Rubio will galvanize conservative Americans with a new, hot message that is so blunt and to the point that even Chris Christie would blush after hearing it.

Rand needs to make a profound statement that makes headlines and captures the moment in one simple sentence that essentially every American will agree with.

"President Obama, you're fired!"

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

The tea party has been taken

The tea party has been taken over. Its ironic how ron paul is the godfather of the tea party but all of the radio talk sho personalities as well as in bed politicians have worked endlessly to divert its true meaning back to neocon anti obama just because he's obama garbage

Good for him

the more people pay attention to his policies the better.

Go Rand, GO!

This makes Rubio's speech completely irrelevant.

I love that Rand is taking the spotlight

But the "Tea Party" was corrupted and co-opted as a movement a long time ago. I really hope Rand is not planning to brand himself as the "tea party" candidate in 2016. We are much bigger than that.

The "Tea Party"...

...as an organization was corrupted long ago, but a great many individual people identifying themselves with the tea party are genuine conservatives, with whom we could profitably ally ourselves. If we are to be successful in 2016, or in the coming midterm elections, I expect it will be through a kind of informal coalition between the liberty movement and the grassroots tea party. From what I hear, such a coalition is already up and running in many of the local and state parties, liberty movement and grassroots tea party against the establishment RINOs.

Bring it on!

This is great

Tea Party Express chair Amy Kremer said in a prepared announcement sent to reporters. "We are happy to see that the Republicans have selected Tea Party conservative Senator Marco Rubio to deliver their response. Both Senator Rubio and Senator Paul will articulate pro-growth messages that will resonate with the American people."

What is especially great, is it will help us see the difference between Paul and Rubio.

This is welcome news, a really great opportunity to establish himself as *the* leader of the true conservative wing of the GOP. Go get 'em Rand!
