9/11 Survivor Ellen Mariani's Last Chance to Force Truth Through Legal DiscoverySubmitted by Sue4theBillofrights on Fri, 02/08/2013 - 20:17
9/11 widow Ellen Mariani's supporters are circulating an online petition asking the US Supreme Court to hear her appeal to have her case heard by an independent judge. Mariani is one of the 9/11 family members who appears in the documentary "9/11: Explosive Evidence – Experts Speak Out," produced by Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Vincent Gillespie, Secretary-Treasurer of Mariani's legal fund, writes in an article for the AE911 website:
According to the official 9/11 story, Arab hijackers flew her husband’s plane into the South Tower of the World Trade Center after slipping past airport security with box cutters--but Mariani doesn’t buy it.
Rather than hearing her case, Mariani was threatened with money sanctions by a two-judge panel of the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, after her legal team argued conflict of interest on the part of the Judge hearing her case, Judge Alvin Hellerstein of the Southern District of New York
They were "ordered to show cause" why they should not pay money sanctions to their adversaries after they submitted extensive documentation of Hellerstein’s connections with three key defendants in the 9/11 litigation, Boeing Corporation and security companies ICTS and its U.S. subsidiary Huntleigh.
Mariani is the last person who lost a family member on 9/11 who is still fighting to try to find justice through the courts. Although the issues are complex, it is her hope that her case will eventually begin to push the larger questions of 9/11 through a legal discovery process with its concomitant subpoena powers. Mariani says in a petition linked to her website:
“Every other person who lost a loved one on 9/11 either took the government hush money and agreed not to sue in court or else when they did try to litigate they were bullied, pressured and manipulated by the court into settling their case without a trial. Not one of those cases has been allowed to go to trial.”
Judge Hellerstein has presided over hundreds of cases involving 9/11 victims, and all have resulted in settlements for undisclosed amounts. Hellerstein actively favored settlement, and once said: "Money is the universal lubricant."
Gillespie writes that, in a 2012 filing, the court had failed to account to Mariani for evidence taken during her case from Boeing "as to the ability of the plane manufacturer to install hardware and software on its planes that would allow remote electronic commandeering of the planes, ostensibly in the event of a hijacking." In October of 2001, USA Today reported that equipment had been successfully tested the previous summer which allowed the controls of commercial airliners to be seized from the ground, in order to thwart hijackings. USA Today reported that:
"Military and civilian jets have been landing on autopilot for years, but the Raytheon test used technology that provides the extremely precise navigational instructions that would be required for remote control from a secure location. Unmanned, ground controlled reconnaissance aircraft have been used by the military for missions over Iraq and Kosovo."
The Technology of Remote Piloting
Questioners of the official 9/11 narrative have long said that the alleged 9/11 hijackers did not have the navigational or piloting skills to fly the complex flight paths which looped far inland and then hit three targets at high speeds with such precision. German intelligence official and Defense Ministry Secretary of State, Andreas Von Bulow, who wrote the book "The CIA and September 11," said in an interview in 2002:
"To hijack four big airliners within a few minutes and fly them into targets within a single hour and doing so on complicated flight routes! That is unthinkable, without backing from the secret apparatuses of state and industry."
Eckehardt Werthebach, former president of Germany's domestic intelligence service, told Christopher Bollyn in December of 2001:
The deathly precision of the attacks and the magnitude of planning would have required years of planning. Such a sophisticated operation would require the fixed frame of a state intelligence organization, something not found in a loose group, like the one led by the student Mohammed Atta in Hamburg.
Horst Ehmke, former coordinator of the West German secret services, said: "Terrorists could not have carried out such an operation with four hijacked planes without the support of a secret service."
Von Bulow has suggested that remote control may have been used to guide the 9/11 planes to their targets. Unmanned aerial vehicles, sometimes called "drones," are currently in use in the skies over Afghanistan and Iraq, usually piloted by controllers located as far away as Creech AFB, Nevada. Aiden Monaghan (B.Sc., EET) wrote in a paper "Plausibility Of 9/11 Aircraft Attacks Generated By GPS-Guided Aircraft Autopilot Systems":
"Guided entirely by autopilot, an Air China Boeing 757 jet last month snaked along a narrow river valley between towering Himalayan peaks ... the airplane automatically followed the twists of the valley, descending on a precisely plotted highway in the sky toward a runway still out of sight..."
The paper maintains that:
"The flight paths of the September 11, 2001 attack aircraft bear characteristics common to the capabilities provided by precision automated flight control systems and related commercial aviation technology that emerged just prior to these attacks."
Among the leaders in technology allowing ground controllers to seize the controls of planes in mid-flight is the company Systems Planning Corporation (SPC.) Some questioners of the official 9/11 story note that the founder of SPC, and CEO up until he was appointed to the position of Comptroller of the Pentagon by George W. Bush, is Dov Zakheim. The quote on the company's official homepage reads "'a small company with a large wingspan' - Dr. Dov Zakheim."
Zakheim's SPC also got the contract for the investigation of the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993, through its fully-owned subsidiary Tridata. Zakheim was also a member of Project for a New American Century, a neoconservative think tank which had long advocated the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, and the co-author of a document in which it was asserted that many foreign policy goals could not be accomplished "absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event, like a new Pearl Harbor."
As Comptroller of the Pentagon, Zakheim was the chief financial officer of that department at the time $2.3 trillion was announced unaccounted for on the day before 9/11.
Ellen Mariani Petition
A petition linked to Mariani's website is gathering signatures to raise the profile of her case, and asking the US Supreme Court to hear her appeal. Click here to go to the petition. Mariani is the last 9/11 family member to refuse or dispute the terms of the government's settlements with surviving families. Another vocal family member, Beverly Eckart, the widow of Sean Rooney who was in the South Tower, was killed in a plane crash as she traveled to a speaking engagement in Buffalo, New York, in 2009. She had met with Obama in the White House just days before.
