This app would be allowed and given free promotion.
Apple is a private company - it's up for ridicule but you can't dictate its private choices - it's not government so if they want to censor something on their own App Store - they can.
With the majority of Apple 'censor' cases - because Apple is an easy, popular target for the developers who want attention- The developers in turn fail to meet the guidelines set by Apple when developing software for Apple's devices. The App Store service that is provided and hosted by Apple and they request that developers follow the guidelines if they wish to be hosted on there. Apple has the right of refusal. Some developers even ignore the guidelines on purpose in order to kick up a fuss.
On a technical note Apple hasn't censored anyone from developing a HTML 5 website app or a web page which doesn't require the App Store and can be viewed on those devices - uncensored.
Feel free to use another phone brand. But please be aware that sometimes it's a cry for attention and in this case not a bad thing.
and demand to have it returned they will do it, right?
I mean, they are profits driven, aren't they?
Well, the people are in an uproar over this and they refuse to reinstate the app!
Sounds government driven to me.
its 'cos I owe ya, my young friend...
Rockin' the FREE world in Tennessee since 1957!
No. They will do what they choose to do not because the angry mob didn't like their policy.
Yes. Any business goes for profits - that is the concept of a business. What kind of business doesn't want profits? Apple is renowned for being driven in business by wanting to make the best possible products to their opinion.
Yes they can refuse to reinstate it. It may be that they don't like the developers because they haven't followed the guidelines in the first place or because the developers have sought to create a controversy. Whatever the reason they won't do it because of the angry mob - they will do it when they freely choose. It may be never or tomorrow (if the guidelines are followed and the app is resubmitted for approval).
I could argue it was made to seem like it is was "government driven" by the developers in order to gain attention and a story.
Apple is a government entity. Bought and paid for.
That will come as a complete surprise to their board of directors and investors.
Also, it's very strange that a government-owned business has nearly all of their components manufactured and assembled overseas. Strange that.
Just as "private" as the Federal Reserve.
Has anyone heard of Android, a true open source way for developers to deliver their apps to market?
I keep seeing these arguments about what Apple will or will not allow and by the same token there are probably just as many consumers interested with access to Android market and their phones.
Ditch the top down Apple model already.
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

It should be noted that developers prefer Apple because their customers tend to pay for apps (even though there are thousands of free ones) versus Android users, who tend to not pay for apps.
will find one way or another to find each other, I guess. With or WITHOUT Apple :-)

And there you go. Not censored.
Boooooooooooooo! Apple! Don't make me boycott. I like your products.
They censor everywhere. I was once blocked from this site from making a joke. Alex Jones has blocked me from his channel, so has Adam Kokesh, both because I wrote something correcting their statements, which probably made them look foolish.
If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...
That still isn't censorship. You're free to write a blog, distribute pamphlets or speak on a soapbox in public with your opinions.
If you don't understand the meaning of words, you will be doomed to misuse them.
Why don't you tell us what censorship is and means then... if you don't agree with this:
"Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body."
Apple is not a government, media outlet, or other controlling body.
What do you think controlling body is... and BTW I was referring to my own PERSONAL experiences I listed above, which you claimed are not censorship..
In both cases, censorship was not an issue. You and the app developer are free to seek other venues to express your opinion or (in their case) sell apps.
What are you talking about? Did you bother to read what I wrote. I have been blocked from this site before, from Alex Jones channel and from Alex Kokesh channel. What does that have to do with Apps?
Which part of my response is confusing? This site is privately owned. Apple's app store is privately owned. Neither privately owned businesses are obligated to do anything they don't want to do and they are free to exclude for any reason any person or thing they choose to exclude.
Is this clearer?
Why don't you tell me what censorship is, since you apparently disagree that it is what i stated it is. Can a body or person censor someone? or just Government. Give me your definition.
PS> Censorship has zero to do with freedom of speech unless it is Governmental in nature.
I don't know how else to communicate the reality of the matter to you Brian, although I'm beginning to understand why you've been banned from so many different web sites.
Let me get this straight. I have now asked you 3 times to give me YOUR definition of what censorship means, and you still haven't , but instead you make a smart ass remark that this type of question would get me banned? Am I getting this right?
PS. I was banned from this site because I made a joke in 2007 that Iw as gonna vote for Mike Huckabee. I got banned from Alex Jones site for pointing out a few lies and distortions. And from Kokesh for criticizing his stance on Copyright.
So far you have not communicated anything that is satisfactory to me or in any way addressed what i asked of you. I have a feeling you won't because you invest too much time to "being right" and when something is pointed out to you that you are wrong about, you dance, like a good old dander does..
I'm not relying on "my definition", I'm relying on the dictionary definition. Please refer to one.
You still haven't pointed to any source you are citing. I did.... get with it, or lose the argument...
He actually posted a dictionary definition of censor, in response to YOU (from wikipedia, which is an expanded definition from the single word definition). Maybe YOU should refer to it...

Censor: to examine in order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable ; also : to suppress or delete as objectionable (Merriam Webster Online)
Certainly Apple has here examined the app in question in order to suppress and delete the objectionable material. They have censored the app.
I am beginning to think this guy is a troll and just want attention. It's like arguing witha trash can..
