Ron Paul Calls on United Nations (Which He Doesn’t Believe In) to Confiscate RonPaul.Com?

Ron Paul Calls on United Nations (Which He Doesn’t Believe In) to Confiscate RonPaul.Com
In 2008, a group of Ron Paul supporters founded RonPaul.com, a Ron Paul fan-site that became one of the leading sources for information about and support for the perennial Libertarian presidential candidate. The creators of the site "put our lives on hold and invested 5 years of hard work into Ron Paul, RonPaul.com and Ron Paul 2012." His presidential campaign fell short, but the enthusiasm lived on as supporters continued to rally around this free enterprise Messiah.
Yesterday morning, Ron Paul repaid their support by filing a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization, an agency of Paul's much-reviled United Nations, seeking the expropriation of both RonPaul.com and RonPaul.org from his supporters without any compensation.
The editors of RonPaul.com explained the situation,

Except for the negative advertising.
By negative advertising I mean things that can be well defined here:

Sure SOME people may disagree with me...
BUT

Complete nonsense..
Ron Paul did not "Call on the United Nations", to "confiscate" RonPaul.com! Ron Paul has used the trademark "Ron Paul" for over 30 years to market his books and has taken the first step in correcting gross violations of trademark infringement according the to regulations that RonPaul.com agreed to when they registered their domain:
http://www.dailypaul.com/274115/a-deeper-look-in-to-ron-paul...
.
In reality, Ron Paul is no longer in the public arena and has no election to win so what he does is NO ONE ELSES BUSINESS and that is the cold hard TRUTH whether you like it and agree with it, OR NOT.
and he was not a "Libertarian" presidential candidate- he was a "conservative Republican" presidential candidate.
How about getting your facts straight before you demand anything from Ron Paul.

Property is a byproduct of
Property is a byproduct of your Time+Energy, property is not an imagination. Just because you think of one thing doesn't mean I am not also fully able to come to the same conclusions for ideas and problems.
Who shall morally enforce thought? Ronpaul.com was rightfully bought and paid for by someone who obviously put time+energy into that webpage. In fact, the person who bought the domain came up with the idea before Ron Paul ever even thought about it so who is to blame?
.
dr paul spent his life with clean hands, raising a clean family to protect his good name.
when that is usurped he abosolutely has a right to try and get it back.
The "ron paul" fans neither asked him nor even told him they were stealing his good name and he has EVERY right to use the tools at his disposal to end the theft.
Why didnt they call it "ronpaulfans.com"? or "fansofronpaul.com?"
because they wanted to make money off his good name something which HE built and I hope he sues the FUK out of them.
and after hes done, I HOPE HIS HEIRS do the SAME Thing.
They stole something he worked his entire life to build, HIS GOOD NAME.
Some may think they have a right to someone elses name.
I think they are in FOR A BIG SURPRISE!
Dr. Paul is about TO BRING IT and using the UN (something he Loathes) tells me HES PISSED! and he will get them spending NO MONEY out of his own pocket. He is a REAL conservative.
"Paulfest" was a similar usurpation and all the little tards who ran around here plugging it should BE ASHAMED of themselves.

Homesteading Principle
The fact that Ron Paul's people are appealing to the established authority for arbitration is a non-issue here. Unless you refuse to use currency, don't drive on public roads, don't pull over for police, don't pay taxes, etc., you don't have a leg to stand on if you are going to say that RP should not be appealing to the recognized governing body of a particular area.
However, the reason that he is appealing to this body is where the inconsistency lies IMO. I believe the Libertarian homesteading principle applies here. The current owner of RonPaul.com took a piece of previously unowned/unwanted property and mixed his labor with it. This is textbook homesteading principle.
Let's say that you sailed to a deserted island and started a sort of colony. You build houses, a port, begin trading with nearby islands, and generally develop the land. In honor of one of your favorite icons, you name the place "RonPaulsville". Does that name give him some sort of arbitrary claim over your island? Or what if the name of your street was Ron Paul Blvd? Is the important factor here the labor/improvement or the name of the location?
Rothbard on reputations
"Let us consider, in fact, the implications of believing in a property right in one’s “reputation.” Suppose that Brown has produced his mousetrap, and then Robinson comes out with a better one. The “reputation.” of Brown for excellence in mousetraps now declines sharply as consumers shift their attitudes and their purchases, and buy Robinson’s mousetrap instead. Can we not then say, on the principle of the “reputation” theory, that Robinson has injured the reputation of Brown, and can we not then outlaw Robinson from competing with Brown? If not, why not? Or should it be illegal for Robinson to advertise, and to tell the world that his mousetrap is better?5 In fact, of course, people’s subjective attitudes and ideas about someone or his product will fluctuate continually, and hence it is impossible for Brown to stabilize his reputation by coercion; certainly it would be immoral and aggressive against other people’s property right to try. Aggressive and criminal, then, either to outlaw one’s competition or to outlaw false libels spread about one or one’s product."

RP on Storage Wars?
So, these folks on Storage Wars... they are analagous to the folks at Ronpaul.com... Somebody failed to keep up the fees associated with the domain, and it got snatched up fair & square.
This arbitration would be like if some other party came into the show and liked what the folks that won the auction bought... and go and whine to a third party to attempt to force the winners to give up their rightfully purchased property.
Sometimes the folks on that show buy storage units that have items of real value.
To be congruent, should Ron Paul check out all of their stuff, in case he wants it? Who cares if RP wasn't at the sale... we like him, he should get dibs on whatever he wants, right?
According to a mere minutes
According to a mere minutes worth of research on my part, the site is locked up until the year 2020, and it can basically be renewed in perpetuity.

Fountainhead
This all seems strange but we are only hearing one side of the story. Remember the Ayn Rand book The Fountainhead? I never read the book but saw the movie. I was really quite shocked at what Gary Cooper did to the buildings he designed. But he believed they were his and no one had the right to take that away from him, no matter how altruistic. Isn't that the ultimate in Libertarian thinking? Ron Paul's name is his and it has become something that people can and will make money off of. If he doesn't want that, maybe he believes like this. I don't know but I am just throwing it out at you, Dex.
Remember this is just one side of the story.

Imagine this dispute
with www.LyndseyGraham.com, or www.JohnMcain.com, or even www.BarrackObama.com, or www.anyCongressCritter.com. Would NEVER happen. I hope they resolved. Both have good arguments. I wish Ron Paul would just pay them something for their Site. They both should be grateful to one another.
Analyse it six ways from Sunday
But it's still an attempt to get rich off Ron Pauls reputation.

$250k is rich?
$250 - (approx 15% - 36%) taxes/owners/6 years work = > approx 7k - 11k a year. Not only is that not rich. It's closer to the poverty line.

No. But what if they did?
No.
But what if they did? That doesn't change the principles that Ron Paul championed: nobody's entitled to confiscate private property through a governing body.
Why didn't he make an issue of this in 2008 - 2012? Because he profited from their free labor and free promotional support. What was their opportunity cost of running that site for five years? Ron Paul doesn't seem to care. That's pretty lame.
That was the figure reported
That was the figure reported here.
So that 'free' support comes at a price..
Was there any request for that promotional support, an agreement, a contract, or any right to influence how that support was directed.
It's not about support, millions of people gave support to RP, why, because they believed in him and his philosophy, and gave time and money for that reason.
It's nothing to do with support, it's about a domain name.
Is not a name representative of an individual, and not any individual, but specifically the individual represented on that site..Dr. Ron Paul.
What is in dispute is simply a domain name, nothing more, and any costs incurred are for the registration and upkeep of that particular name, not the costs of 'free' support.

David Gilmour
Had to go to court and spend a small fortune to take his name back from a fan that had a site in his name. It took years before DG managed to own his OWN NAME in order to set up his own website. Sad thing is that there were some pretty cool Floyd and Gilmour sites out there and after he won they almost all seemed to disappear. Where he had a thriving fan base checking out the fan sites before, he ended up having a lot of fans lose interest because his site sucked compared to the ones that the dedicated fans maintained. Just a thought.
