Year of the SnakeSubmitted by befree on Mon, 02/11/2013 - 03:35
Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!
It is now the Year of the Yin Water Snake.... or black snake.
The last time this happened was 60 years ago. So, if you were born in the Chinese year of 1953 you will be finishing your sixty year cycle. Other snake years are: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001
Big things happen in your year so be careful!
So lets look at the words:
Yin = the dark side of the hill, the moon, shadows, internal, cool, solid, the female aspect. It is the balance of yang. Everything is composed of both yin and yang.
Water = as you can see in nature, water has many aspects. It fills space, a flowing powerful force, it finds its way into everything, it is reflective, and has great endurance to keep going, Everything needs water and without it we are fearful. Fear and paranoia are associated with the water element. On the one hand it is adaptable and changeable and to the extreme it will appear as shape-shifting of sorts. It is a great reservoir- of life energy, knowledge, wisdom. It is associated with black or a very dark blue. This is why it is the year of the black snake. Water is winter, an internal time of conserving our reserves, reflecting, and preparing for the growth of the spring. It is the time of conception.
A snake has many qualities too. They grow new skin and shed the old. It is trans-formative, starting fresh. A snake is patient, waiting until the time is right. Snakes are a symbol of wisdom. But it is best not to disturb a snake! Just think about a snake in the wild and how they are.
So, what will this mean to us this year? I invite your interpretations here.
