Good to know.

I haven't studied the origins of it in detail but I was just curious to get the perspective of Catholics as to how widely it is accepted as legitimate.

It is interesting, though, how it does seem to line up sometimes -- with 'Gloria Olivae' seeming to correlate with the Benedictan/Olivetan order with Benedict. Is that just random occurrence, or does somebody try to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy in some sense?

self-fulfilling prophecy

It is not the Church, but we humans, that are the problem within the Church. We are the sinners. I am a sinner, born into sin.. and I pray God will forgive me, have mercy on me and find favor with me. I say that because some may take offense at my saying "we".

Transparency vs. Money Laundering: Catholic Church Fears Growing Vatican Bank Scandal

As much as the public rejected Godfather III, there was a

whole lot of truth in that story. The one outstanding difference between fiction and truth is that the Cardinal (the Archbishop in the film) did not fall to his death. He fell from grace and was quietly reinstated by John Paul II as the head of the Vatican Bank.

But you're my spiritual leader. Where else am I supposed to learn about pedophilia and murder and hatred and sexism and racism?

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

And the answer is in Secular leaders?

(To AzimthCoordinator)To be fair, have you ever compared these religious sexual abuse claims with the other professions in society? The number of Public School offenders is enormous compared to Catholic offenses..... oh but this is politically incorrect and must be censored.....and by the way, since Pope Benedict has been in office the numbers are now nil for the Church. Have you heard this reported by the lame stream media??? God bless and keep your liberty minds open to the truth!!

I was drunk, and when I get drunk I get pissed at religion and gov't.

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Here comes Petrus Romanus

The Prophecy of the Popes, attributed to Saint Malachy in the year 1139, is a list of 112 short phrases in Latin. They purport to describe each of the Roman Catholic popes, beginning with Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) and concluding with the successor of current pope Benedict XVI, a pope described in the prophecy as Petrus Romanus, "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will end in the destruction of the city of Rome.

The Lateran Treaty was signed, giving the Pope his "king" status.
This video shows the 7 or 8 "kings" since the signing of the treaty, and with today's news about the pope stepping down, we are seeing right before our eyes, the entering of the 8th "king", the Beast.

Is it a coincidence it was today they chose to announce this? Anyone else see any "coincidences"?

there is no "quitting" on Christ...

..of course, there exists also...

NO office called the papacy that is biblical, no one person on Earth set above others in such authority who speaks for Christ; popery itself has been a brutal arm of the church/state marriage...

So, in accordance with the most popular thread trending at this hour on the DP .... Something serious is in the works on the world stage; America has always been the last nation to be conquered.

For more insight on the origin of the papacy; what happens when the church marries the state...

I will now go and dig my other videos regarding the unbiblical teachings of Romanism and re-post them soon....history MUST be taught here....before the boot comes down on us all!
(right up through how missionary Marcus Whitman and his wife Narcissa were brutally slaughtered after Jesuit priests invited by the Hudson Bay company worked to turn the indians they so greatly helped as they founded the Oregon/Washington Territories for Christ and his Kingdom, and claimed that land for America by miraculous trials and travels!)

And King Henry the VIII did not murder thousands of Catholics

because they did not want to follow the Church of England established by a King??? (to Pariots under God) Listen, a church made of sinners will not ever be perfect, and Judas proved this in the beginning. But the bible says Jesus clearly establishes a Church with a Heirarchy, with Peter being the first "Rock" of the Church built by God, as he was given the keys to heaven. You may twist this scripture to serve your anti-Catholic agenda, but anyone who truthfully studies the word of God will not take this passage lightly as it mentions keys to heaven and the authority of this Church to loose and bind both on earth and in heaven. Be careful not to persecute Jesus's Church my friend as you may be knocked off your high horse like St. Paul was...... God Bless you....

Jesus knew Judas was a devil among them...

...the "rock" Christ's church is built upon is Peter's BELIEF in what the Father revealed to him about WHO Christ was...

Thirdly, there can be no reconciling the "works" of the Catholic church in the sacraments with the words of Christ in John 3:3 and 3:5

Call it anti-Catholic if you want....but....how many Catholics can get around Jeremiah's rebuke FROM the Lord in Chapter 44?

15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. note note

18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? note

20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?

22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

These Babylonian rituals came from Nimrod....that YouTube video is accurate....Ephesians 2:8-9 settles the matter; no one can work their way to heaven....believe, then be baptized...in that order....how many ana-baptists were killed for opposing the Mother church?

You enter the Kingdom individually on His terms, not as a corporate body, nor because of good works outweighing bad works .... Every man must hear the whole counsel of God, otherwise, he is vulnerable to ravenous wolves and satan's counterfeit christ and church...there are souls at stake...I don't doubt the sincerity of many catholics, I just detest the system.

PatriotsUnderGod, I am shocked...

that you believe that our incense in our Church is for anyone other than Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. Have you ever been to a Catholic Mass? How can you say that we Worship anything other than the true living God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit? And the Queen of Heaven? Everybody knows this is Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, and we honor her just as Jesus did under His own commandment, Honor thy father and thy mother. We do not offer incense to Mary, only God, just as the early Jews did at their altars, and is done in the reference in Revelation, where the prayers of the people on earth are like incense to the Lord. I am not sure what denomination you are, but as a Catholic I believe in two major things that the Protestants do not believe, and that is in the Authority of the church and in the Eucharist, the greatest gift of God to Mankind. Read John chapter 6, and you will understand why we believe the way we do. Caution: John 6:66 says that many left Him after the "difficult" teaching of consuming His Body and Blood, a teaching that the Catholic Church has never waivered on. One other warning to you and other anti-Catholics... Jesus talked about the unpardonable sin, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, right after the Scribes and Pharisees said that Jesus performed His miracles only with the help of the devil. If you associate the devil with the Catholic Church, and you are wrong, have you committed the unpardonable sin??? I would be very careful and know everything about the Church before I would speak evil about it, as the Lord will be your Judge. God Bless, and keep an open mind to the Truth of Jesus and His Church....

Cometh the Black Pope ???? Petrus Romuns - 2012 ??? Will this guy be the last one ???

Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Rev 17:3b-6
and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.

And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Rev 17:9
And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. [Rome]

Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

POPE's never resign

What is the real reason, thats the question. In my life I have never seen a person in power resign their post because they no longer can do the job.

I understand not only was he the son of a cop but also a hitler youth at age 14.

So again the question that begs an answer, what is the real reason?

from wiki:

The Catholic Encyclopedia notes the historically obscure resignation of Pope Marcellinus (296-308), the historically postulated resignation of Pope Liberius (352-366),[3] and that one catalogue of popes has Pope John XVIII resigning office in 1009 and ending his life as a monk.[4][5]

The first historically unquestionable[3] Papal resignation is that of Pope Benedict IX in 1045. In order to rid the Church of the scandalous Benedict, Pope Gregory VI gave Benedict "valuable possessions"[3] to resign the papacy in his favour.[6] Gregory himself resigned in 1046 because the arrangement he had entered into with Benedict was considered simony. Gregory's successor, Pope Clement II, died in 1047 and Benedict IX became Pope again.

The best-known resignation of a Pope is that of Pope Celestine V in 1294. After only five months of pontificate, he issued a solemn decree declaring it permissible for a Pope to resign, and then did so himself. He lived two more years as a hermit and then prisoner of his successor Pope Boniface VIII and was later canonised. The Papal decree that he issued ended any doubt among canonists about the possibility of a valid Papal resignation.

Pope Gregory XII (1406-1415), resigned in 1415 in order to end the Western Schism, which had reached the point where there were three claimants to the Papal throne: Roman Pope Gregory XII, Avignon Antipope Benedict XIII, and Pisan Antipope John XXIII. Before resigning he formally convened the already existing Council of Constance and authorized it to elect his successor.

On 11 February 2013, the Vatican announced that Pope Benedict XVI would resign on 28 February, due to infirmity from advanced age.[7] He is the first pope to resign since Gregory XII.

I think that might eventually be the reason given to

avoid exposing the real reason. The tentacles of the octupus reach out in many directions, my friend. (See my Malachi Martin comment in this thread.)
