Eric Holder: Banning Homeschooling Doesn’t Violate Fundamental Rights

Shane Vander Hart | February 12, 2013

I read an article written by Michael Farris, the founder and chair of HSLDA – the Home School Legal Defense Association. In it he discussed the case made by government lawyers representing Attorney General Eric Holder during the court hearing for the Romeike family. You may remember the Romeike’s sought political asylum in the United States due to Germany’s persecution of homeschooling families. A federal district court judge granted the Romikes asylum here against the wishes of the Federal government. The government appealed that decision to the Board of Immigration appeals and won. HSLDA appealed to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals where the case (Romeike v. Holder) will be heard.

Farris outlined three arguments made by the U.S. Department of Justice lawyers which should be of concern to American homeschooling families:

He said the first argument in essence is that a government isn’t violating anyone’s rights if homeschooling is banned altogether.

The government doesn't want

The government doesn't want home schooling because the children might actually learn about all of the governments lies they have been telling in text books and class rooms for year and years. The true history of America. They wouldn't have to sit in classes were homosexuality or Islam is being taught in some of our public schools. They would be free to learn about the part Christianity played in the founders lives in creating America.

I wonder

I wonder if Holder thinks we have any rights? Just the right to work for the communist worker machine he wants to create? The only problem is, he doesn't even have any workers.

Holder is one of the biggest sellout traitors out there and has

been for years. Hate him.

Eric Holder: an N-th Obama's minion. Constitution ENEMY #1.

Let me explain.

Leave him 10 minutes with the Constitution - to reinterpret it his way - and what Ted Bundy would do to his victims for hours will look like a pleasant joke.

Tomorrow, expect the same Mr. Holder explaining you the first Amendment is useless anyway - and that, instead, (their) politically correct is enough to protect your speech.

Someone needs to lock this guy up. Others are on death row, you can keep him alive, in a comfy cell, with TV and books, and professional girls, why not, but please someone just lock him up FOREVER. Quiet.

Technicality: let the guy deny himself his right to a fair trial.

That'd be perfectly consistent with his thinking schemes.

This was one of his first tasks back in the days - with the courteous "stimulus" coming from the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act":

By the way, have we recovered yet? How's the economy going four years later of sustained "stimulus" for recovery? LOADS OF NEW COPS, OK, we got that, but... besides?

Gov't: update, anyone?

I love how in the comments

I love how in the comments for that article people are noting that its makes colleges like them better. I don't get why. Colleges are just a harder-core continuance of the liberal marxist brainwashing done on public school. Most people go for liberal arts and a lot of people completely change who they are to become beret-wearing artsy-fartsy limp-wristed people who are less intelligent coming out than when they went it, and they just walk around using their piece of paper to tell people without degrees that they are more intelligent because of college. I see college produces a ton of atheists. I see liberal arts, but what would conservative arts be if there was such a thing?

Please come join my forum if you're not a trendy and agree with my points of view.

No, that's not what college is

College is a way to educate a few elites for free by forcing a large number of people to pay for a bunch of courses they don't want or need and won't ever use. they pay for this through government loans that must be paid back regardless.

Yeah, they do propaganda too, but that's not the main purpose.

Could you expand on this so I can understand it better. I'm not quite sure I know what you mean. Thanks.

Please advise...

What are your thoughts about countries where homeschooling is missing and there are families that want to do that?

In other words there is only public 'education' and some parents are doing complementary at home, but want to do it completely.

don't tell the government you

don't tell the government you have kids. buy guns. declare independence. become your militia tribe.

That is the issue where religious and socialists agree

It is not only about historical fact that Evangelicals lobbied for universal government education in 19th century to teach the Grace and salvation. It is a standard practice among religious and socialist-progressives to sacrifice individuals of today for collective children of tomorrow or for collective poor or for collective "minority" or collective "neighbor" or collective society, etc.

Few among GOP question property taxes meant for local schools and levied against people without children.

Northern Evangelicals also

Northern Evangelicals also unleashed the progressive era on us at the turn of the century... and banned alcohol and other things they didn't like.

Southern Agrarian

Regarding alcohol

At the turn of the century, Evangelicals were losing ground to Catholic and atheist immigration. When the war took many men away, women were glad to exercise their newly obtained power of democracy (tyranny of the majority.)

They Want Them In The Public Indoctrination Centers

to make good little sheep out of them. Case in point, they are going to be showing Spielberg's movie "Lincoln" in the schools now to brainwash the kids into thinking that Lincoln was a great guy who saved us all from ourselves, freed the slaves and saved the country when in reality HE was the one that started a great demise of the constitution that has snowballed since his reign. Read "The TRUE Lincoln"

Mr. Holder is an ignorant fool! (the right to "teach your ...

children well" is an absolutely fundamental right, and would have been seen as such by the Founders, other Patriots, and even Tories!

stepping over and back again...

You're pointer doesn't seem to be correct or working properly.

Try here...

It seems like our government likes to test things and see how many of us are watching. I don't like it. It is parental rights we're talking about. Of course with the handing over of the kids in some of our state's marriage licenses who know who get to control what.

Have a blessed day!

The night is far spent, the day is at hand.
And those who have not heard shall understand.

People need to realize that homeschooling is vital for liberty

to succeed in America.

All my siblings and myself were home-schooled, thank God!

There is a reason Hitler mandated the youth all attend government schools, and you were fined and then imprisoned if you didn't comply. Schools are centers of indoctrination.
I implore everyone to remove your children from them if you still have any there.
