Lost interest in dailypaul more and more since the Elections. Too extreme. Anyone agree ?

Since the elections it seems the topics are all so focused on things like the Newton shootings being a gov operation extreme ideas .. Maybe it is because there is no more focus on Ron Paul so the topics have drifted..

Anyone else like me and not extreme and would rather concentrate common sense libertarian ideas? The Alex Jones stuff is fun and I agree with some things he says but its not what I want to be associated with..

I liek Rand Paul some but he has to appease the right wing people to the point where theres not that much to get excited about with him.. well.. atleast he is not as exicted to goto war as the others.. thats better than most..

I listen to the Joe Rogan podcast and Adam Carola podcast and they seem to talk aobut alot of common sense things that I agree with and wish there was someone like them I could get behind and vote for..

Im not religious.. I just want people to be responsible for themselves and gov to leave me alone and leave other countries alone ... if you must spend more money for tanks.. id rather it spent towards helping our own people ..

anyone with me? Tired of the extreme stuff and just want someone to talk common sense?? or just go ahead and rage on me now if you like..

And that is what I am talking about

1. Many posts get missed. Many posters seem to take that personally. It is a matter of what else is being posted and who is online and what they are interested in.
2. The bust idea is lovely, but not something I want to participate in. My money is budgeted very tightly, and I try VERY hard not to circulate FRNs. It is my personal "End the Fed" mission. I saw the post when you bumped it, and just clicked away. I thought "What would Ron Paul do with a bronze bust of himself?" and chose not to participate. It does not mean I do not think it is a lovely gesture, but it would mean taking money budgeted for aquaponics development and education and sending it to someone to make a rather useless trinket for a rich guy. Sorry, just not my thing. If these are the types of "worthy efforts" you are in a twist about, you might be a drama junkie.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

"There is an entire thread whining about content"

Gotta love your complete obscuring of the discussion. ...and your hypocrisy.

You state this, not here where it relates to the topic but over on another of YOUR POSTS as a bump. You are nothing but a vote hound. You didn't want to bump this one and give it more attention because you were gunning for your other post to get the attention. That was even the second self-bump (AGAINST THE RULES) for your own content. Funny that you can whine about others making valid statements that their posts get lost when it is you posting and then bumping your stuff that causes it.

Maybe you should face the fact that no one was interested in your post and it got lost. Oh, sorry, I forgot. You don't have to play by the rules like others with the humility to follow them. Perhaps some others should chime in and voice their opinion: Should bump/vote hounds be able to make the DP what they want or should everyone simply follow the rules and see where it naturally leads?

Get over yourself, please

Everyone understands that posts get missed. That's a logistical fact that's obvious. It doesn't mean, however, that a post should receive a couple negative votes to get buried even further (what his post received). If those people didn't want to participate, then 'drive on' but why actively knock it to the dirt?

I can understand, probably better than most here, budgeting money for only the best things. Had you followed more of my ideas, you'd know that I've spent mine doing thing you would probably drool over. Too bad I won't make you that offer now. You could have had an automated aquaponics system that is more compact and dense for cheaper and easier to manage. Being an engineer and into automation, this is what I do. However, like everyone else, I now have my 4th through 6th kid in college and the others are buying fixer-upper homes so I'm beyond drained. Still, I haven't taken those problems public. Maybe others would want to pitch in and buy me a tire to replace the one I've been nursing along throughout the winter by filling it up every 3 days? No? Why not? The rest of the members here interested in entertaining stories. Oh, that's right, because it involves doing something and that's where the line is drawn. Well, I'm sorry but that attitude is what got this country into the mess we're in. We can rail all day long about how past generations or other social groups are too apathetic to stand up to the oppression taking control over them but it must stop there. We aren't allowed to discuss anything that involves personal action. But we CAN generalize all day long.

You say that there's a time for work and a time for play? Well, I'd like to ask when is the time for work? Give me a date and time. Since you suggest I'm not active myself, I'll bite.

I've personally contacted over 250 politicians, 1000 entrepreneurs/celebrities, 50 investors, 30 activist groups and more looking for that one opening when they aren't having a bad day and I'm on my game (pitch-wise). I've held meetings at my home for 10-25 people, looking to get some commitment to go with all the well wishing they have for this idea or that. I'm a member of groups ranging from CFL, Tea Party, Oathkeepers, Fair Tax, MoveOn, Coffee Party, to the campaigns every candidate for president and my state's politicians, my local and some national power boards, nearly a dozen renewable energy groups, industrial - home and DIY automation, entrepreneurs and crowdfunding groups, an aquaponics and polyculture group, Zeitgeist and so many more I can't remember them all. I have 3 email addresses that get 500 newsletters each day.

Sounds like a lot, right? Sounds like I'm blowing my horn right? Well it was all to find some group or individual willing to take action on the hard topics that society wants to sweep under the rug. Where have I focused the most? DailyPaul. That's because this group talks like they have the mindset to both comprehend the reasons we need to do some tough work and to maybe join behind acting on it. I'm NOT the only person to see this. This site is a magnet for others to post proposals.

I know quite a bit about what Michael Nystrom is going through. He's seeing the general direction of his site shift from active and political to conspiracy and gossip. I see him returning more frequently, posting more often and his posts gently implying that more action could be done. He's not going to upset the apple cart, however, to push any drastic change. I went through the same exact thing with my FB group and in the end, I was too motivated to spend the time schmoozing ideas out to people who weren't receptive. That's why I'm here and not there.

So when someone posts an idea, a solution or even a probing tough question that leads to an idea, it is very disheartening to see not only the expected "misses" but the ACTIVE downvoting and the active defense of fun over function. That defense should be apologetic, not active and aggressive. The idea people, myself included, are not against the fun. We're against the war on action. We want both. Why is it ok for one side to tell the other what's ok but not the reverse? We're against endless discussions about what's wrong when those discussions don't have the option of turning into productive discussions. We're against being told that we're in a long battle and just one person can't fix it SO DON'T TRY.

Listen carefully: With the right ideas and a small active group behind them, we could fix nearly everything in less than 5 years. I'll put everything I own on that bet.

I can't speak for the others, but I've lived my entire life proving nay-sayers wrong. Whether it's technical, logic or application, if you say I can't do it, you just guaranteed it will get done. I've done this in so many areas that I may be getting cocky here but I'll put my track record up any day. I'm not saying that to impress, however, but more to show that there simply is zero, zip, zilch, zed, nada, nil and no justification for not discussing something on that basis. None. It's counter productive and ONLY SERVES THE SYMPATHY OF WHOMEVER IS SAYING IT.

In conclusion, I'm not here whining that a bust idea didn't get enough support. I'm not even bitching about MY ideas not being supported. This is about a general attitude that the world is coming to an end so we have to watch every aspect of it but we sure as heck can not follow the path this site began on (before you were a member) of coordinating people behind some action. We can't get away with telling the people they must take some action or it's over... especially if those people are members here. No. On this site we're the change that will happen so don't question our path (even though it's no different lately from the other groups).

Please tell me I'm wrong. Please show me the category where good ideas get promoted on merit ALONE. Show me the project or even question category where merit holds more value than popularity. And if you think I'm picking on you, well then that's the cost for being the popular voice you've chosen to be. Now, back it up.

There is a time for group actions, and a time for individuals

to act. It takes a PRESIDENTIAL campaign to turn this bunch into a cohesive group. Once that is over, even the politics becomes a lot more local, and this is not the place to get local action going. This is a GREAT place to come share what is going on at the local level, so we can get some sort of feel for how the battle is going. It is a GREAT place to get ideas for how to get yourself better prepared, and a GREAT place to continue your education.
And, as we all come closer and closer together on what is going on and what can be done about it, there will be less debate.
Confuscious say... "Unwaddeth thy panties, it shall all be fineth..."

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Pardon me but

that's pure BS. I didn't say I was trying to get action on a local issue. I didn't say I was trying to get help doing my personal stuff. I'm already doing that. I said I have pitched ideas here and can't even get them into the debate. From my perspective, it's because no one is feeling empowered. I see so much stuff that's not even remotely related to this site that it's virtually no different from facebook. I had 150 members following a group of mine there but I left because THIS SITE was more about the action that the other one couldn't seem to muster. However, don't get me wrong, I'm not all work and no play but wouldn't it be nice to at least get SOME discussion going on a long researched idea as compared to hundreds of posts on music or breakfast?

It's shall be fine? Really? You do see where the world is headed and how fast it's accelerating, right?

You get what you put in, maybe?

As for "it shall be fine" - I meant the DP. Although the world will be, too. Humans might be wiped out...
Anyway, I enjoy the art posts very much. I feel artistic expression gives a human depth to the interactions here. And there is a certain "politics adrenaline" that presidential campaigns get to pumping, but no other politics can inspire the same pulse rate. It is OK, this is a LONG battle. When there is time to post what you had for breakfast, it is a blessing.
For me, I post about aquaponics every chance I get. I try not to be obnoxious, but I remain persistent. Today, another thread made the "hot topics" about someone's hydro system. This is what is most important to me now. I do not see a political solution to our troubles, I do not choose to put much time or effort into political efforts. And I'll bet I got more people turned on to aquaponics than Ron Paul got bills passed...
If you aren't having fun or getting what you're looking for, drive on, I guess. I think perhaps you are hyper-focused on politics, and failing to appreciate all the roses that bloom around here.

I'm with you

While other people will give the usual, "The value here is that all topics are presented!" I would argue that that's the argument given for the entire internet, and the point of pages is to focus a bit on some given value.

That being said, it's not my site, and it's also not my job to moderate the place.

I feel like it's gone to less and less relevant topics, but this happened between elections last time around as well. We'll see a return once the next election gears up.

Just throwing my two cents in. I'm down to checking the site once a week or every few days.

The value of the DailyPaul's content is all in its diversity.

The value of the DailyPaul's content is all in its diversity.

Taking example from my own posts, you can find a lot of SUPER EVIDENT stuff, like this:

http://www.dailypaul.com/274234/dr-ron-paul-we-all-should-be...

Or a lot of SUPER RETARDED stuff, like that [credits to Mr. (first / middle / last) Paul FRAUD Krugman]:

Or a lot of SUPER EDUCATIVE stuff, like this:

Or a lot of SUPER SERIOUS, SUPER BORING stuff, like that:

...

Okay. I'll spare the reader: I stop here.

Here is how you fix that

Don't read the "extreme" stuff.

you are welcome.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

True, and I try not to...

but the extremist conspiracy garbage spills over into damn near every thread, so it's difficult to fully avoid it.

Ranting about chemtrails and lizard-men does nothing to advance the liberty movement and could turn off potential converts. People don't like to hear it, but it's true. Then they wonder why it's so easy for the media to smear us all as "kooks."

I don't play, I commission the league.

You are too funny

Uhhh... the chemtrails are pretty thoroughly exposed at this point. They call it "geo-engineering" and you can see where the government admits to it, the military admits to it, the airline contractors admit to it...
All us "kooks" made them confess, but they gave it a different name so that gullible people will still believe that chemtrails do not exist. The thing with the chemtrails is all you have to do is look up on a regular basis. You'll see something with your own eyes, if you are brave enough to look.

I think that you might make too much sense

with that answer. That could never work, if people did not read the weird or extreme stuff what would everyone biotch about?

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That'll teach you to keep your mouth shut. Hemingway

Agreed.

I haven't read any of the Newtown stuff other than the response being about "gun control."

You sound like a collectivist

Teaparty extermists taking over .. run for the hills hide your women and children form the EXTREMISTS!!

Ah so Michael sent the DPEO

Ah so Michael sent the DPEO (Daily Paul Enforcement officers) over to your house to make sure you were reading all the content you are not interested in on the DP... Its in your contract you know you agreed to it when you sign up for an account on the DP .......... ;-D

Honestly I am constantly amazed at liberty minded folks who complain about what others post as if their arm is being twisted to read it. Take responsibility for what you chose to read and don't expect others to only write what you want to hear. There is plenty of content here you claim you are interested in stick to that an leave the rest.

I cant say i agree

This site is truly the same that its always been, a place where we can find stories and info on an endless variety of topics from which you can view whatever it is you please, and not view whatever you dont please. I see that youve been a member of this site for a year.. Did you happen to visit this place prior to election season? If you didnt, ill let you know that this is exactly how its always been, and hopefully will always be..

one of the great things about the daily paul is that

you can post whatever YOU feel is "common sense stuff" and people will join in the conversation...

"Be the change you want to see." :) Post it. Don't wait for someone else to do it, or expect others to jump all over your wishes and take care of that for you. On this forum and others, in government and in life... If you sit back and let others do your part it will not be done 'your' way, but 'theirs'.

SO - if things seem disproportionately 'AJ' to you, it is probably because AJ is doing a disproportionate amount of *the work*. Jump on and do your part and things will look more appealing to you.

A quick history lesson for you.

The dailypaul began as a political website. It caught fire, because Nystrom set up this amazing real-time exchange of VITAL information to the political aspect of the battle for liberty. As soon as the election was over, THERE WAS NO MORE POLITICS TO DISCUSS. Traffic died off, people whined about all the "off topic" stuff and the dreaded "off topic" forum was created. But somehow, the site stayed active and relevant until another campaign rolled around, and it started to look a lot like the "old DP" for a while. Then the election was over, and... THERE IS NO MORE POLITICS TO DISCUSS. Now, we can present what is going on in politics, whine about what politicians are doing, etc. But the actual planning of individual races, of spreading names of liberty candidates, of uniting behind a presidential candidate... that is ALL GONE. For another 4 years. If you don't like anything that is not straight political strategy meetings, you are being pretty narrow minded and missing some of the most important information on liberty that is available. See my tagline for further elucidation of that point.
Got your seeds started yet? Quit whining, go spend some time on the gardening threads.

Proposition I-522 in Washington State

there is that g.m.o. labeling ballot initiative next to you in the state of Washingon. I think it's coming up in november of this year, if i'm not mistaken.

You could rally the troops in washington, since you live in idaho.

lawrence

It's right next door!

I live 3-1/2 hours drive one way from Washington, and I am on the west side of Idaho. I am in the boondocks. Wherever it is, I can't get there from here... at least not easily.
I'm doing what I can in the way that feels useful to me. I get a lot further with people talking aquaponics than I do talking politics. And I get a lot further educating about GMO when I speak "gardener to gardener."

I think you'll learn the

I think you'll learn the meaning of the word 'extreme' in the coming months and years.

“Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it’s realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy.”
― Ron Paul

agreed

That and the word "radical" I would think.

You should post some content

You should post some content for us ;-)

Sounds like

another person giving up and not seeing the big picture.

Go ahead and leave if you don't like this website. But please: STOP MAKING THREADS ABOUT BITCHING ABOUT THE DP.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Ok, so

you ask people who are currently active on the site if they have lost interest? Ironic. What sort of answers are you expecting?

I like dailypaul...

I understand where you are coming from, but I still find very meaningful and interesting articles everyday on dailypaul. It is still better than a lot of other places to keep up to date. I cannot trust MSM news because they are too biased and close minded.

But then again, I don't really trust sites like infowars because they are so extreme and open to any theory that my not be justified.. Not to mention wild assumptions based on few facts tend to ruin the credibility of otherwise logical articles.

just a thought.

But the lips of knowledge are a more precious thing.

Site has become more statist

Lots of people making insane excuses for Rand Paul and the other neocons. I saw a thread attacking anarchists also. It seems there are lots of people who don't understand freedom here as there are throughout society. Government is merely legalized crime. Taxation is theft, extortion and slavery. It is only pure ignorance that prevents minarchists from understanding it is a very simple matter to privatize everything and end the state. And in their ignorance they are arrogant.

"Show me the government that does not infringe upon anyone's rights, and I will no longer call myself an anarchist." ~Jacob Halbrooks

True

I'd add that they don't read Lysander Spooner or H.L. Mencken either.
