That's it, I quit! Glenn Beck just suggested we "bring all the troops home."

I'd say this is a victory.
Just remember how Ron Paul was treated at the debates for even bringing the subject up.
I want the troops home.
I am completely against the wars we are in, the amount of bases we have worldwide, the amount of troops we have deployed, and in general the mainstream idea of governing the world as we try and do. But after reading some of these comments and pondering motives for Glenn Becks statement.. If Obama declared he was bringing the troops home, I would be weary of his motive as well. With all the new legislature allowing Americans to be detained, held in secret prisons without trial, or even murdered, etc.. Now, DO NOT GET ME WRONG; I want the troops home. Just sayin, I might be a little scared of the 'game plan' as to why they were being brought here.. UNLESS THEY WERE RELIEVED OF THEIR DUTIES
Any thoughts??

Beck makes me fume
It drives me nuts that he bashes Dr. PAUL yet tells America we now need to bring the troops home. No apologies for sabotaging Dr Paul's campaign but now glenn gets to quote almost word for word what Dr Paul has been preaching for years. It's mind boggling. They all hated Dr Paul's foreign policy during the campaign but now its okay because Glenn said so.
yes--
a little bit--
!
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
Most of us were once "neo-conned"
I don't presume to have inside knowledge of anyone's motives, especially Glenn Beck's, but I believe most of us were once neo-conned. When we "saw the light" it drove us into deeper research and toward the path to liberty. We ended up here and elsewhere fighting for the cause of liberty.
You can take two approaches to this news:
1. Assume his motives are disingenuous (there's plenty of reason to believe this)
2. Assume his motives are genuine and he has finally seen the light.
I personally would start with #2 with the addition to wait and see where he goes from here. It should be obvious based on what he says from here on out whether or not this is genuine.
I agree. I do not understand
I agree. I do not understand why some people are not open to the fact that some others can change. No one was a libertarian their whole life. So like you said some were neocons and probably took a LONG time to convert. Even Tom Woods admits that...
If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...
Agreed. But...
If Beck saw the light, then he would have apologized to Dr Paul. Nope. It get more ratings to bash him on the air.
Flem Speck caughing up more yellow stuff again
Can we please find the correct type of penicillan to remove this scourge from society?

At least, Beck's inconsistency is consistent.
If you look up the word "deceiver" in Webster's dictionary, it will list Glenn Beck first and Satan second.
I LOVE that Glen Beck needs to now promote Liberty.
I LOVE that Glen Beck needs to now promote Liberty. It means we're winning. Welcome aboard.
He'll need to offer people something worth listening to, and I trust in peoples ability to think, judge, and process for themselves. Pandering to Liberty minded people is VERY hard to do when you oppose it. I would be worried if Glen Beck was promoting "freedom" rather than liberty, but if he wants to talk about liberty; bring it on! This should be entertaining if nothing else.
Besides, There are some very good reasons that Glen Beck and many others hate Libertarians, and it has to do with the Anarchists who masquerade as advocates for liberty. They're right to hate some Libertarians, and as you may be figuring out, some Libertarians AREN'T trying to defend liberty. Some are just trying to "break up the US". (You hear me Lew?)
Government does not need to be about "ruling" the people. Living in a just society is not IN ANY WAY antithetical to liberty. Serving justice is ultimately about refusing to let people be ruled. It's about standing opposed to injustice and meeting it with collective force, and it won't be a mugger who'll come to take your liberty. It'll be an army of muggers. Our only hope is to win the debate, and use collective force to serve justice rather than mans covetous nature.
"Freedom, Liberty, and their common defense."
IF Glen Beck wants to be a part of that, so be it. Better him than somebody talking about Reptoids and Anarchism.
Some comments are quite sad
I find it very telling that this board is supposed to be a place where people can promote liberty and be free to do it in their own ways. It is supposed to promote a libertarian philosophy of government and life. For the most part it does.
But then you have people on here commenting about how much they hate Glenn Beck and that he doesn't matter and that he is a [fill in the expletive].
Why is it so frequent that people have to be reminded that people in a libertarian society should be free to have their own opinions, their own strategies, their own beliefs. Why are so-called libertarians among us ridiculing people for having different beliefs? Why, because they do not understand true libertarianism.
You do not have to agree with Becks ideas, you can think their foolish or stupid or that he is misleading people, but it is no reason to belittle a man, who has in fact delivered many people to libertarianism whether or not you agree with him or his methods. In fact disagreement is no reason to belittle any man or woman or child for that matter.
I used to listen to Beck before the 2008 election. I liked him. I used to listen to Rush but he would agree with Bush so much that he would have to go on the air telling listeners how he actually disagreed with Bush on some things. I was waking up at this point and I turned to Glenn Beck. Beck pointed out some things I hadn't thought of before. I turned toward libertarian thinkers and eventually discovered Ron Paul. I didn't agree with everything Beck said, but he at least seemed genuine in his thought process.
Then came the 2008 primaries and Beck's ridicule of Ron Paul. This really pissed me off because Ron Paul embodied all of the political thought I had in my mind and agreed with much of what Beck was saying. I couldn't understand how Beck could turn his back on a man who seemed to agree with him on so much. I turned Beck off, I didn't call him names or throw a tantrum.
If Glenn Beck is now coming out and saying something you agree with just accept it. Be happy he is agreeing with you and if you are so inclined, thank him and tell him what else he needs to come around too.
Like him or not he has turned people onto the side of liberty and freedom. The hatred that comes from some of you belong in democrat and republican politics, it does not belong here. Here we praise people who have freedom of thought, who change their philosophy to encompass more liberty minded ideas, who persuade people to live and let live, who propose ending aggressive war.
Be glad he changed his tune and be glad that he is making other people come around to our way of thinking.
For me, the sad comments
are those that treat Glenn Beck as a libertarian who's promoting the liberty movement based on some comment he made today or yesterday. He trashed Ron Paul, he trashed Ron Paul's supporters and some of the most important libertarian principles we believe in when it really counted. He pretends to be on our side, then turns on a dime and betrays us. Not just once, not twice, not thrice, but countless times. It's an established pattern that GB set indicating that he's either a liar or a hopeless schizophrenic.
If his constantly shifting opinions sometimes help someone jump on board the liberty movement, I say hooray. I'd give credit to the listener who managed to choose GB's correct opinion over the incorrect one though, not GB who surely confuses most of his listeners by flipping from one opinion to the opposite opinion and back again ad infinitum.

Good for Beck. I suggest we
Good for Beck. I suggest we praise him for it. Praise the good and you'll hear more of it.
I tend to think of Beck as just a guy who lets out his feelings. I know he's done some awful things to hurt good people like Paul and Medina, but the guy is not some sort of master pupeteer out to utilize some sort of grand strategy to have his ways. He is, rather, like play-dough, always changing with the various pressures. He may not even notice it himself, that his views shift so abruptly; he certainly doesn't acknowledge it, but that's ok. If you've ever listened to Beck it is clear that he works on whims and emotions, I don't think the guy is caniving. I see someone who has, over the years, come closer to reason, not gone further away from it.
Bitterness is for beer.
What tune would he be singing if Romney was president?
Beck is a Bitch.
What can be said of a people who would sell their own children into slavery, using the rationale that it is to protect their freedom?
What's the big FD?
Even Barak Caesar suggested we "bring all the troops home."
Beck is a control freak just like Barak Caesar.

There is no link!
He needs to apologize for his Neo-Con ways, admit he was wrong,
and give praise and homage to the liberty movement like former neo-con Mike Church did, before I can even acknowledge him.
Peace and love is a year
Peace and love is a year round belief, Beck. Its not something you believe when your sadist bosses and audience is on vacation.
Why does Alex Jones insert a "submit to fear" subliminal message in his movies?
I won't quit
Till EVERYONE says it.
I want to hear it from everyone I disagree with today - tomorrow. From media personalities I don't like to pop culture celebrities I can't stand - when they ALL are saying it is when we know we're winning, so why would you quit now? Even when we do win, someone is going to have to make sure they remember why!

why are we even bringing up his name..
this guy is a fake, lets quit promoting him. especially if its just what he said on the 9:30 mark! No real libertarian should be giving him any attention.
"you're a funny dude, but who gives a fuck about that? I don't care about someone's wit, I care about the courage of their heart and the honesty of their mind."
I told you already
Glen Beck is an opportunist! He is looking to make money, he is an entertainer. There is now a market for "liberty minded" ron paulish people and Beck is trying to tap into it.

"Real" libertarians wouldn't be fooled
Libertarians are unique (I think) in that we can't be subverted by a LINO (who thought THAT term would ever exist?)
Even if Beck is a phony and an opportunist, when one of his listeners actually "wakes up" to true libertarianism, they can't go back.
I was once a fan of Beck's. He helped wake me up to true libertariansm and now I can't stand the guy.
Even if he is being deceptive, I only see it as beneficial to our cause.
Agree
We shouldn't complain about it we should use it to our advantage.
Its more exposure and where Beck errs we can talk to people in direct conversation and help them recognize the real message.

How dare he promote liberty
How dare he promote liberty ideas to his 10 million listeners! Who does he think he is? Ron Paul invented liberty and nobody else has a right to it.
Well it's over. They've co-opted RP's ideas. Soon they'll be all saying we need to cut the drone strikes, cut the federal budget for real, cut regulations... and my god, at that point I think I'd rather shoot myself than live in a world like that. I shake and vomit just thinking about it.
