Feds respond: Why is homeland security buying so many bullets?

What really pisses me off is the condescending attitude of the article. Like we're all stupid for not trusting the same government that glamorizes FDR. He was the same President who stole gold from Americans, and marched Japanese Americans right from their homes into internment camps. Let's not even discuss the weird love they have for Lincoln, the racist tyrant.

The ammo is for the Civilian

The ammo is for the Civilian Peace Corp (Obama brown shirts).

These aren't the droids you're looking for.

Move along.

And yet the government and

And yet the government and the media continue to demonize any gun owner who has two boxes of ammo.

So if we are to use terms of DHS, a few hundred rounds of ammo is not a stockpile, just normal training supplies and an AR-15 is a personal defense weapon.

wow. i think you have to have a sense of humor. why are you pissed? this one is so off the charts, it's clearly not something "they" are telling you because they think you are dumb.

it's something some dumba$$ is telling you because they are dumb.

don't you know - if you buy 800,000,000 bullets you get a price break at 800,000,001.

it's funny (and sick).

hollow points

are not training rounds

they are a little fuzzy on their details and

they don't mention that the 450million rounds of .40 cal were also hollow point.Hollow point ammo is a LETHAL bullet. It is not designed to put someone in the hospital. It is designed to put someone in the cemetary.WHY does a private contracted DOMESTIC security force need bullets that are illegal to use in any war or battlefield?Yes people.Hollow point ammo violates the geneva convention. So WHY the hell does a social security admin agent need bullets that are illegal in war, when they are only investigating people pulling scams to get money out of the government? Is the government pissed because someone is dipping into THEIR cookie jar?Are they afraid people who might need it will use it up before they are able to steal it all?

I think this goes back to that whole

make the lie so big they HAVE to believe it.
I mean, it is almost unfathomable to have them purchase that kind of ammunition. Common sense tells you they are clearly prepping for major conflict. However, the first things people think is "that can't happen here" - so it is easily dismissed - even though the numbers don't even come close to adding up.

1. They are missing a few zeros from billion to million
2. If the DHS uses 15 million rounds of ammunition a year - that is 41000 rounds a DAY being used(someone better let the DEP know about all the pollution)
3. Assuming the training facility is open 365 days a year - that means they have 200 agents a day shooting. Everyday.

So here is the million dollar question?
If we have 70000 agents a year practicing there - how does that compare to say - the Marine Corp.

The Marine corp is only about 200,000 total. Of that - only about 1/3 are "infantry"(or about 65000) - the rest are adim and air wing.

So to sum this up:
We have a 100 year supply of training ammo(1.6B divided by 15m) being ordered for an agency that is training more people in combat than the Marine Corp.

We are fucked - plain and simple - to deny that is to actually believe that train is taking you away from the war zone for your own good.

Lol what's wrong, Hal?

A couple billion rounds gotch'ya down? The only number you forgot about was how many American civilians own a gun.

And don't forget about the Veterans.

Lima-1, out.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Since when did they care about saving money?

"Federal solicitations to buy the bullets are known as "strategic sourcing contracts," which help the government get a low price for a big purchase, says Peggy Dixon, spokeswoman for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga"

"society could go in a thousand directions as to how it would exist and how it would be, but the public mustn't know that. The generations must believe that the one that they're born into is naturally evolved."-Lenin/Alan Watt/cuttingthroughthematrix.com

It's not their money they're spending on these rounds.

how do people who don't even know how to do simple division or

multiplication get into these positions? This is just dumbfounding to me..... Actually no wait nevermind.....we have a congress and exec branch that has allowed our deficit to reach 16 trillion. No mystery here.

Seriously, you would think someone in her position could do 750,000,000 / 5. The answer is not 15 million.....All she has to do is 75/5 and then add the freaking zeros for crying out loud. My 5 year old nephew can do it. One would think someone responsible for our "security" would be able to do simple math. Who's dong did she have relations with to get this position? She clearly could not have gotten there through any real merit.....

I would prefer they instead train on the Constitution

and liberty based principles. Cops of all flavors focus too much on aggressive offense and not enough on non-aggression actions.

Anyone else notice FAUX News Coverage of this

was full of holes? I mean it could not be more obvious that FOX is trying to convince their readers that this is no big deal. Here is a breakdown of the propaganda http://arkansaswatch.blogspot.com/2013/02/homeland-security-...

I believe we all understand

the government is buying massive amounts of ammo to keep it out of the hands of law abiding citizens, no matter what these government stooges tell us.

The numbers don't add up

First, I agree with the sentiment of the other posters. I have little faith in our current government representatives. With that being said, let's still work on getting real arguments organized so that we can continue our important work to bring additional people into the liberty camp. This takes pointing out why the reasons the government is giving regarding what they are using these bullets for don't make sense.

In the explanation of why the government has purchased so many bullets, Peggy Dixon, (spokeswoman for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga) and her numbers don't add up.

She states that Homeland Security uses 15 M rounds per year and a 5 year contract would be 75 M (not the 750 M) she later states.

Her numbers for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are too non-specific to have any meaning. She states that ICE "ammunition requests in the last year included:" but does not state for how many years this request would take to use up. If this is for a single year, that would mean each of the 70,000 agents use a total of 6,429 bullets per year.

For anybody who knows more about ICE and their training procedures:
1) the 70,000 agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, are every one of these people training to use firearms? Does that number also include desk personnel who are not issued a gun?
2) Even if 70,000 is the number of agents who train with a weapon every year, the average number of bullets each agent would have to fire each year is 6,429. Is this a reasonable number for training?

http://riseforliberty.com/ For May 17 Money Bomb!

It says right there..

It says right there they are buying 750 million rounds over the next 5 years because they use up to 15 million a year in training exercises, so I guess that means they still have 135 million rounds a year to shoot at civilians with, err I mean al queda and "associated" forces;)

It does not add up

At some point, purchasing in large quantities does not get you a lower price. I mean, is making 2 million of a given round really cheaper per round than 1 million, or even half a million? And is the Resident the first guy smart enough to figure this out? Why didn't the others know about this?

Second, the fact they use "as many as" 15 million rounds on training each year does not explain why the order is for hollow points, which are not typically used on the range, nor why they need (assuming the balance of it is for ICE and DHS use is a full 15 million) 750/15 = 50 years worth of ammunition over the next five years- if they never make another purchase.

So at a minimum, if you believe their story, even though we are bumping up against the debt ceiling and we are borrowing almost half of every dollar fedgov spends, they feel like NOW IS THE TIME they want to place on their shelves the training ammo they will be using in the year 2060!

I was also amused because it ends by saying "Jones the talk-show host did not immediately respond to requests for comment." Yeah, that really sounds like Alex Jones.

Localism is for people who can still sleep at night even though somebody they don't know in a city they have never been is doing things differently. ("Localism, A Philosophy of Government" on Amazon for Kindle or Barnes and Noble ebook websites)

I agree about Alex Jones - he will

make sure that he is heard on anything. But it also is normal, I guess, for this type of article to NOT allow reader comments! Maybe they knew they would be swamped with people pointing out how bad their math was, and how hollow points are not used for target practice or allowed in wars!

Because, Jack booted thugs

can't hit the broad side of a barn, standing inside with all the doors and windows shut. They put forty bullets in that woman's truck. How many other bullets did they sling around the neighborhood with their fully automatic weapons.
There was a siege here a few years ago and the cops ran out of bullets and had to get more delivered from town.
The house would have fallen from all the bullet holes had it not been a refurbished log cabin. In the end, two cops were shot(not by the shooter) and the only injury to the shooter was a dog bite from officer pooch.

The reason there is something "on the verge" is usually because our "secret government" is somewhere stirring something up.
