Vladimir Zhivinosky denies meteorite, claims U.S. weapons test

15 February 2013 15:51 ]

Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. Russian nationalist lawmaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky, long known for his flamboyance and outrageous remarks, said Friday that meteorite fragments had not rained down on Russia in the morning, but that the light flashes and tremors in several of the country’s regions resulted from US weapons tests, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

“Those aren’t meteors falling, it’s the Americans testing new weapons,” Zhirinovsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, told journalists several hours after the Emergencies Ministry began issuing statements on the incident, which has injured hundreds and damaged scores of buildings.

He also said US Secretary of State John Kerry had wanted to warn Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the “provocation” on Monday, but couldn’t reach him – a reference to US State Department comments earlier this week that Kerry had spent several days trying to speak to Lavrov by phone to discuss North Korea and Syria.

Zhirik is funny! He's on Russian TV talkshows EVERY night!

Zhirik is funny! He's on Russian TV talkshows EVERY night! Usually he just yells at his opponents, but every so often he chokes and beats them on live TV.

He's an outspoken opponent of Putin and has no inside info about ANYTHING that happens inside Russia.

Honestly, foing to Zhirik as a source is like going to Lyndon LaRouche for details on what's cooking in the White House: both will give you tantalizing stories several pages long involving long-dead members of the British Royal family, but little in the way of real facts.

I don't know if this Cuba thing is

a hoax or true...but, these meteor-type events remind me of a comment I made on a thread several months ago: To track the movements of TPTB...to see if there is a mass exodus toward their newly-constructed underground facilities. Should a bunch of higher-ups all fly to the new Denver Airport in a matter of two days, I would be mildly concerned about an impending "event".

Hmmm. What is going on here? The truth is out there somewhere.

Russian Meteor Was US Weapons Test, Claims Russian Nationalist Politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky
February 15 2013 11:50 AM

The meteor that rained down on central Russia and injured upwards of 1,000 people was not a celestial object at all, but a U.S. weapons test, claimed nationalist Russian lawmaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
Russian Meteor Was US Weapons Test, Claims Russian Nationalist Politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky

Zhirinovsky, the head of Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party who is known for his nationalist views and outlandish allegations, made the startling claim to Russia’s state-owned news agency, RIA Novosti.

“Those aren’t meteors falling, it’s the Americans testing new weapons,” the Russian politician said.

The U.S. State Department could not immediately be reached for reaction to Zhirinovsky’s comment.

Lol! Just the communist countries?

Will China and N. Korea be next? I thought I read there were supposed to be meteor showers today...along with the asteroid passing.

Yeah, ralph, that's what worried me.

I was thinking the same thing about hitting the communist countries and thought we could be next.

What the heck is going on? Russia now Cuba! Who's next?

From the second link in the post: "Considering a much-talked-about asteroid - Asteroid 2012 DA14 - is due to pass by Earth this afternoon, many are scratching their heads about the timing and are a bit spooked. But NASA assures everyone that there is no chance DA14 will hit Earth. Not that they did a very good job at predicting last night's space event, though, did they?"

Sheeesh!

As soon as I read that there was "zero chance"

of the asteroid hitting the earth I started to wonder. They can't predict the weather- how can they be so sure about an asteroid?

"The big one" will miss us.

I don't know... I expected this. I am sort of stunned that anyone is surprised by this. There is a HUGE rock between us and the moon today. We are going to have debris fall off as it hits increased gravity forces and increased electrical forces. The odds are, YOU will be fine. But we are on a relatively small rock hurtling through space with a bunch of other rocks... when we have close calls, there will be consequences.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

I imagine the sun

also breaking down some of the gasses in this larger asteroid; as that's pretty much all they are ( big pieces of frozen gas and junk). Add in gravitational forces between the Earth and Moon, and it explains for it fragmenting.

IMO there will be quite a few more incidents of large meteor strikings. I'd imagine the likely hood of larger ones to increase as the closer the big asteroid gets to earth. Hope nothing drastic comes of this.

Actually, asteriods are rocks, meteors are made up of particles

of space dust and ice. Asteroids are tiny rocky planets that orbit the Sun. They can be as small as 1 kilometer(km) across or as large as 700 km. There are thousands of asteroids in our Solar System. Most of them can be found in an asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Asteroids whose orbits cross the Earth’s orbit are called Apollo asteroids. There are so many asteroids that scientists just identify them with numbers or they may name them after people.

What are Meteors?

Meteors or “shooting stars” are space particles that have either been left behind by comets, or broken off from asteroids. Meteors orbiting the Sun are called meteoroids and are made of rocks and chunks of metal like iron and nickel.

A falling meteor is spectacular to watch as it leaves a bright trail of light across the sky called a fireball.

Millions of meteoroids enter the Earth’s atmosphere, but most burn up before they reach the surface of the Earth. Sometimes, however, a large meteor does not completely burn, and what is left crashes to Earth. A meteoroid that lands on Earth is called a meteorite.

Large meteorites have landed in South Africa, Antarctica, Russia, Canada and many other places. Because the small ones may look like dark colored Earth rocks, many meteorites land on Earth undetected.

The larger meteorites, however, leave craters in the Earth like the Barringer Meteor Crater in Arizona. This crater was created by a meteorite that fell to Earth almost 40,000 years ago.
