I can't help but notice that
I can't help but notice that most of the grassroots was spearheaded by the liberty movement. Look at the map...Most of the arrows are yellow, except for the establishment ones.
The old guard is shrinking
The old guard is shrinking more every day -- The neocons are dying off. My wife and I changed our registration from Republican to No Party Affiliation. We did not leave the Party, the Party left us.
But now is the time to bring it back
I agree that the party has lost its way, but our movement is growing stronger and more influential. Like it or not, the old guard will have to concede that the only way they can remain viable is to embrace us and return to its principles.

Bill Kristol, Elliot Abrams, Anne Coulter, Joe Lieberman, Rudy Guiliani, Paul Wolfowitz, Bill Kagan, Dick Cheney, Charles Krauthammer, Eric Cantor, Lindsay Graham, John Bolton. All neo-con scum.
They should be dragged kicking and squealing into Iraq and dumped in a back alley somewhere. They can discover first hand how Operation Iraqi Freedom turned out.
The Republican party got hijacked by neo-cons in 2000. It's as good a time as any to take it back.
Neo-Cons love to spend, love deficit spending especially, talk about nothing but Benghazi and how much they hate Chuck Hagel. Could care less about the 2nd Amendment and of course they love torture, drones and more wars.

Bush senior got beat by Clinton in no small part for being too hard on Israel.
I think Bush junior was just used. He is as easily influenced as he is easily amused. I think he figured it out when he broke with Cheney on the Iran invasion. Probably why he hit the bottle so hard when his 2nd term was up.
Not that I excuse his idiocy, but I think that's probably how it went down.

Good Article, But...
Good article, but I think this started during the last Republican Presidential Primary when they cheated Dr. Paul out of the election in county-after-county and state-after-state. The establishment GOP supported the cheating and if we're being honest, probably orchestrated it. To me, that's when this really started. One might even make the case that it began closer to 2010, when we started the TEA Party. They first ignored it, then fought it, then co-opted it. The party has been in an internal struggle ever since. I just think the purging of these four conservatives from their committees was the first major battle since the stolen primary.
When pondering the strategy of our enemies...
...in the GOP establishment, keep in mind that ultimately they want us to lose more than they want to win. They would prefer that the GOP never wins another national election to having one of our candidates win a national election. It would not surprise me in the least if they intentionally split the party in order to hand the Dems total control of government, and then blame us for it. Be aware of this risk. The closer we get to taking over the GOP, the greater will be their temptation to try something like this.
That is more than likely what they'll do,
but at the end of the day they'll still be the ones admitting defeat if they pull such a stunt, and said stunt would only further spread the word of the viability of the liberty movement.
At this point in time, the only thing that's stopping us from winning is the manufactured opinion that we simply can't win; that we don't and won't ever be strong enough to be represendted, and so therefore supporting us and not picking the "lesser of two evils" is stupid. If we can at least throw the Neocons to the wayside we can then show the gullible populace that we now have our own established platform, and gained it by doing no less than overpowing a bunch of corrupt old sellouts.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if we won the election immediately following the split, just because so many voters wouldn't be willing to take the risk to vote for some newfangled party that's never won an election.
