Thank you Ms. Borowski for
Thank you Ms. Borowski for this great video. While I do find you darling, I'm more interested in what you had to say. Aside from some issues between federal and tribal reservation jurisdiction, I agree that continuing this federal legislation that singles out women is silly.
I read through as much of the law as I could, then resorted to the whitehouse/gov site.
I come away with thinking about what does it mean to give women some special category? Assault is assault. Rape is rape. If the federal government were so concerned with rape, it could spend it's gizz on stopping male-on-male rape so prevalent in federal prisons. It doesn't; the federal government isn't so concerned with rape; it's concerned with making inroads into state law. It's trying to do something because it feels bad. That rarely makes for good law.
We got Sharia Law in America to
except that men get the hell and harsh punishment for it and women get all the legal protection and affirmative action from it. before we criticize Saudi Arabia for how they treat women we should look at how our goverment treats men. sheesh something is wrong if you look at a woman and its sexual harassment and could face prison time for it. Maybe another difference is that ours is christian law.
before we criticize the middle east maybe we should fix ourselves to be a better example.
I'd really like to know the
I'd really like to know the cases in which looking at a woman resulted in prison time.
Never mind, I know where looking at a woman could result in prison time. If you're peeping into their private domain -- peeping into their bedrooms and bathrooms. Because it's not illegal to look a woman on the street or at the PTA meeting. You give away to much about your own proclivities.
Correct
But women have allies among socialist-progressive men and men from the same affirmative-action crowd: gays and some ethnic men. That helps them to keep 75% voting majority. Good enough for Democracy.
And their numbers will only grow in the future - manish women generate femanish men; incoming Mexicans will learn the trick too.
Besides, violence against women isn't even a problem anymore...

jrd is still here... kinda in a weird sort of way. She also just might be the happiest girl in the world because she got exactly what she wanted which was a perfect summer wandering playlist.
I am but I can still appreciate other qualities in people
She and I wouldn't work out unless she was into traditional relationships. I've dated bossy and assertive women and they last all of about a day.. So even though I may be attracted to them on occasion, I avoid them like the plague they are.lol
She might just be that way online and quiet and reserved offline.
You're the opposite you said.. meeker online and a bossy heifer offline, right?
BTW.. I live in my head too if we mean the same thing about that. It's where I do all my best thinking. :)

Again, I was going to leave this alone
But, you typed words into my comment. I never said bossy, I said bold.
Bossy? Yeah right... why do you think I refrain from poking the dragons around here? It's not because they will hurt my feelings or I am scared, it's because I know that they will win their little flame wars because they have more energy and I am not interested in trying to change anyone's mind if I think they don't get me.
I grew up around all boys (maybe that will ease your mind a bit if you really believe I ever had any actual intentions on meeting random dude from internet, there is no way the men in my life would let that happen and I absolutely let them tell me what to do because they are smart and they have my best interest in mind),I have never had a chance to be bossy, I let them do my dirty work and I adore them for it. Hardly bossy. I said bold, there is a difference. The point I was trying to make with that comment is that everyone around here comes on strong like a lion and I bet they are lambs in the real world where it is harder to be as lionesque as they portray. Now, if you must have the last word... as I said, I grew up with boys I know when I'm done.
Oh yeah; It's fun to live in your head isn't it? Ok, now I'm done.
Oh, no I'm not done... you and Julie wouldn't work because she might be a fed :) I think I am done now.

Absolutely you did. I remember it very well. :)
"The point I was trying to make with that comment is that everyone around here comes on strong like a lion and I bet they are lambs in the real world where it is harder to be as lionesque as they portray."
Surely, you're not directing that towards me? :)
I am much more talkative here than I am offline but only because people don't like to speak about the things I like to talk about. One, being my thoughts on Liberty, by way of politics. I get to do that here and any one of my "friends" and I'm sure many of my customers can attest to that. Of which I have lost many of the latter because I come on strong and I don't care who dislikes it.
You could ask my family, especially my mother and she'd tell you I give her headaches. :)
I am the black"sheep" of the family because of my unwillingness to keep quiet when there is something I see wrong or something that doesn't sit well with me.
I don't look at any of that as making me special.. in fact it has caused me a lot of trouble over my life but as the first time I refused to keep quiet as a child, I will never do so till I die, literally.. That will be a time when I won't have any control over it. Nobody on earth will hear a peep put of me then.
"Oh, no I'm not done... you and Julie wouldn't work because she might be a fed :) I think I am done now."
That's always a thought in the back of my head as a possibility for everyone. :)

Nope. You remain consistent in your comments.
A lot of people pissed me off last week, I saw a lot of hypocrisy from a lot of members here. I am often told that I "don't get it" around here but I came to the epiphany that I get it just fine and I'm not the problem.
I had to clarify the bossy thing though because it's so funny you would think that.
Here's a video for you. I am still going to Alaska in 2 years I understand it's not with you (I understood that from day one) and this is why I am going.

Considering that violence against women...
...is already illegal (obviously), I assume this bill either does nothing or does something harmful, probably the latter.
More theft
"[...]or does something harmful, probably the latter"
In essence: "mostly" more theft.
And probably a few legalese opportunities for a few machiavellian women out there to abuse their companion or the system or both - as unintended consequences, as usual.

Lookup and count how many times the term "grants" appear. And what they amount to, and where they will go to.
It's all what it is about. Buddy money.
Julie made the most important points. That bill is only a gross excuse to continue milking the people and feed the Federal government's buddies and servants.
Like this nation's housewives would feel or be safer with more bureaucratic leeches. Yeah, right.
On a tangential topic: how about NOT trying to grab their guns (and everybody else's, for that matter), instead?
My wife has guns. You think she'd need DEAR BIG GOVERNMENT and a stupid hypocritical act and its penpushers to protect herself, should I go loco and become violent or something else?
I DON'T THINK SO.
