CPAC 2013: Previous Engagement, Not Speaker Fee, Prevents Ron Paul Appearance

"The neocons and their allies in the media and politics will always be after Ron Paul. Now they are claiming he will not speak at the DC statefest called CPAC because the group will not pay him. In fact, his agent told CPAC in December that it was not possible for him to speak because he has an engagement in Orlando at that time. Yet CPAC kept claiming that he would be a featured speaker. Now they plant lies in the media about speakers fees..."

Wow. Even in retirement he is

Wow. Even in retirement he is still the Republican establishment's public enemy number 1.

Even the original article was obvious

If you read the article, the only RP-related "source" was a CFL person who said it was because he was "retired." All the "it's the fee" stuff was based on an observation that he was asking that as a speaking fee.
Glad to see this cleared up. I wish Ron would learn to speak for himself, he does a lot better than letting the media and / or puppets and / or handlers speak for him.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

He did speak for himself on this one, fishy.

From the article I linked to in my comment below:

Update, 4:45 p.m.:

Ron Paul issued a statement saying he declined to speak at CPAC due to a scheduling conflict.

In a statement provided to Whispers, Paul said that he did not turn down the invitation to speak because CPAC would not pay a speaker’s fee.

"While I have enjoyed speaking there in years past, I am unable to attend this year due to a previously scheduled engagement,” he said. Paul spokeswoman Stiles could not confirm whether Paul asked for his customary speakers fee to deliver an address to CPAC.

That is my point.

When HE speaks, the matter dies. Now there is NO question what Ron Paul has to say on the matter.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

Still on my first cup.

Sorry, I didn't get that right away.

Any thoughts about Ted Cruz speaking at CPAC? My initial thought is that all the young people they are targeting should just stay home and not attend, even with the new, REDUCED, admission fee for them.

Not really.

Spring is beginning to break, or at least wrestle with winter. I am getting more and more into "farmer" mode and paying less and less attention to politics. In general, I see some hopeful signs in the GOP, but I think it is too little too late. Funny business in the metals market these days... I know have been fooled before but I think it really might be unraveling pretty fast now.

Nothing like confusion with a cup of morning coffee.

Just found this article, giving more detail (check out the comments section, too): http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2013/02...

This should be on the front page for discussion today.

Thanks for letting us know about it, Chris!
