Kentucky Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul have announced that they will co-sponsor legislation that would allow American farmers to grow hemp legally.

Hemp is a non-drug variety of the cannabis plant — the marijuana plant — used for a range of consumer products, including rope, fabric, paper, soap and food. The bill would remove low-drug content hemp from federal classification as a Schedule I controlled substance.

“I am proud to introduce legislation with my friend Rand Paul that will allow Kentucky farmers to harness the economic potential that industrial hemp can provide,” the Senate minority leader said in the statement. “During these tough economic times, this legislation has the potential to create jobs and provide a boost to Kentucky’s economy and to our farmers and their families.”

Good sign that

Rand got Mitchy to come over to his side on this. May we see many such neo con flip flops in the near future.

Unfortunately I doubt it will

Unfortunately I doubt it will fly as the Dupont Hearst lobby is far to powerful and has far to many congressmen in their pockets to ever get a positive vote from both houses.

That states legalizing it is a step in the right direction however until they physically prevent the feds from raiding farmers it us all but useless. They could easily do this as there is no authority in the constitution for the feds to prohibit the growing of any plants whatsoever. However most politicians and LEO haven't the first clue of the constitution and how it works despite having sworn an oath to uphold it.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

Washington state

Also has a bill intoduced to legalize hemp. Ron Paul supporters and Washington state Representatives Cary Condotta and Mark Shea were two of the sponsors.

Since we already have legalized marijuana, I hope this will not be too hard to get passed.

Legalizing hemp

Would be a huge win!
