Thanks!

There is no reason to hate Beck...

Beck is like most libertarians when they start out (myself included). They are confused, and can't quite get everything to line up right. If you start as a neo-con (like I did) usually the foreign policy stuff takes a bit longer. Slowly you start to come around to the whole philosophy. This is what I have witnessed from Beck. Over the years he has slowly become more libertarian, though he seems to bounce around a bit. He is just confused in some areas and he is great in others. But his point that we libertarian "eat our own" is certainly true, and I have been guilty of this many a time in the past. So I really don't think it is a good idea to place Beck in a box as an enemy, I would call him a luke warm ally. The real enemies are people like Bill Orielly, John McCain, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Lindsay Graham and those types, people who have NO libertarian tendencies at all and aren't willing to learn or open their mind. Beck has most certainly opened his mind and is certainly a candidate to become a full blown libertarian. Don't hate him for what he said about Ron Paul (he has praised Ron Paul many a time too by the way), look at him as a future ally but be aware that he isn't completely on our side yet.

Ok Charlie Brown

I promise I wont pull the football out this time

Signed,

He is taking one HELL of a long time to figger it out

Shoot, Beck is who led me to Ron Paul. I used to listen to him, too, and was neo-con too.

Yet I broke out of that mode. You did too.

What's his excuse?

Probably...

Pressure. He might be frightened that if he becomes full blown libertarian he could lose his audience, and lose credibility with big media so that he would become an afterthought. That's my guess anyways. It is bad for people's careers in politics or the media to become a libertarian unfortunately. So that's my guess.

well

there is some people who do hate him im not gonna name names but we could use him as a ally but what if he turns on us coming 2016? do we trust him or use him as an ally to futher the cause of liberty?

Albert Camus — 'The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.'

If..

he turns on us again then he will be showing his true colors. But it seems as though he has learned his mistake. His mistake could have been a Mormon thing, feeling like he had to support Romney and therefore bash Paul (but again he did praise Paul on MANY occasions). I just started listening to his radio show again a couple weeks ago and was very surprised how much farther he had come to our side (though he can't seem to get over the Israel thing or a couple other smaller issues), but only time will tell.

Beck is a neocon regardless

of what he says...oh and glenn, your about 5 years to late, when you had a chance to maybe make a difference you were calling RP supporters terrorists.

so you can go to hell you dirty little neocon rat bastard.

PLEASE!!! IGNORE THIS GUY!!!!!!!!!

Quit creating posts giving this guy any credibility..

Ignore him and he will go away.....PLEASE!!!!

STOP Watching FOX NEWS....as well

Allow their ratings to fall, especially Bill Orally...

The more influential the liberty movement becomes...

...the more you're going to see establishment figures like Beck hopping on the bandwagon in an effort to stay relevant. Smile, it's a sign that we're winning. :-)

Yet again, Beck gets in front of the parade.

Ok - judging by the posts nobody

is falling for this. So anybody have any ideas on how to make sure we dont go the way of the tea party and become a has been never will be group?

Anyone?...

get the impression that Beck wishes he was in prep school. hes just such an odd little man, it's hard to believe anyone likes him.

fuck "turd-in-a-punch-bowl-beck"

he aint no libertarian ! ha

"He's this eccentric Ghandi-Like figure that you cant touch with the normal bribes that people respond to."
the man Doug Wead on DR. RON PAUL

As I see it

Tea Party = controlled opposition = Neocon =

Establishment GOP + some lip service to the Constitution.

Rand and Beck are two birds of a feather, they are both astroturfers who back the War Machine and Israel uber alles.

Some Libertarians believe in maximum

freedom.....unless you disagree with them.

Sounds like a situation I've been seeing around the DP a lot lately. That is why I mostly read, but do not post.

alil elaboration?

so far the only issue ive seen make people passionate enough to call for government action, bit of hypocrisy, is the GMO food labeling issue

rand paul

...enough said. Not arguing just obvious.

I thought the same thing when

I thought the same thing when he said that. But then I also thought hmm...that's coming out of the mouth of Glenn Beck, so he must have meant "freedom....unless you disagree with freedom." I think a lot of us stick to our guns on what freedom and liberty actually is. There is no wiggle to what a free man is.

Glenn Beck

Based on the butcher job he did on Debra Medina during last years election primary cycle, I would believe this "conversion" to supporting constitutionists has been sudden and miraculous.

Just another example of his two faceness and cunning. I have no respect for this man, and he is but another Judas to the conservative cause.

Two Ron Paul-haters having a conversation

Can't trust Beck farther than I can see.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Allow me to summarize...

Two establishment hacks try to co-opt the Liberty Movement now that they've destroyed the Tea Party after they hijacked it in 2009. Notice the good cop, bad cop schtick as Glen plays the Libertarian Republican, and O'Reilly plays the Establishment Republican. It's another infiltrate leadership, divert goals, disturb cohesion, distort message, and destroy through internal conflict strategy by those who control information and opinions.

Too bad for Beck he doesnt realize

that jedi mind tricks do not work on DPers like you!!!!

Good summary and good points to remember.

Beck and O'Reilly

These aren't the pundits you're looking for.

The founders would be ashamed at us for what we are putting up with.

Great points. People who

Great points. People who claim to trust that Glenn Beck is a true libertarian are overlooking the damage he did to the Tea Party movement.

An alternative way to look at this

Glenn Beck is an opportunist.

Glenn Beck's (and media attention whores like Beck) primary motivation is to stay 'relevant', get ratings and stay in the spotlight.

This is what motivates him to put himself out there in the media, keep cranking out books, and market himself as a 'national red team voice'

He might be totally untrustworthy. But - insofar as marketing himself and making moves to stay in the conversation and get attention - he is far from stupid.

So. An alternative way of viewing this:

Glenn Beck making the decision to change course and self-proclaim as 'libertarian' (quotes intended) is a sign that our viewpoints are winning.

Because Beck (and people like Beck) do not stand on principle and run the risk of associating themselves with the 'fringe', ie outcasts and losers.

People like Beck - like politicians - put a finger to the wind, watch the polls, and wait ...

And they only make a move when they think they need to switch to stay ahead of the curve - and feel they need to in order to avoid getting run over by the oncoming train.
