We can win if we focus on winning hearts and minds.

If we had a large enough amount of people in America and the world united behind our shared principles, and demanded strict adherence to said principles over politics or parties, then the politicians would truly have to represent us or find themselves out of a job and irrelevant. The word "we" is being used to refer to the people here who support the principles of truth, liberty, peace, the golden rule, the non-aggression principle, sound money, ending the drug war and a non-interventionist foreign policy.

We can make progress every single day if we focus on winning hearts and minds. Here is a suggestion on how to do it:

We get one or two great short ads/videos that promote our shared values.Just picture a short video explaining why we should bring our troops home, have sound money, cut taxes and spending, balance the budget, end the drug war and give power to the individual while promoting truth, liberty, peace, the golden rule, non-aggression and voluntary humanitarian help to our fellow man. This may start as simply a contest of who can make the best short video/s that can win people over to our shared principles.

Then we have a money bomb only to DIRECTLY purchase airtime for said ad/video. We vote with our dollars on which video is best. Then we have a "time bomb"(lol) where we all donate our time and focus our efforts spreading the video on facebook, twitter, youtube etc. Keeping it front page on the DP would surely help. Imagine if for a period of time, let's say a month, the front page of Daily Paul was dedicated to an effort to spread a video that promoted all the principles we share. The video could also include a link or mention of DP and/or a dedicated website sending new people there to join in the effort. Then we fine tune our efforts to make sure we are winning people over. And as long as we see it is working, we NEVER stop.

While commercials for politicians become obsolete, the principles of truth,freedom,peace,non-aggression and goodwill will NOT become obsolete.I do not think a reasonable person would argue against the statement that the more people we have united behind these principles, the better. Therefore, does this idea not make sense?

With the "time bomb" method, we could make our message go viral on the internet, nationwide and worldwide, without asking people for money. With the right videos and a united effort by us, I am convinced this would work. In my opinion, this is how we win.

Anyone got a better idea? I'm all ears.

Sounds like a great idea

In order for an idea to make the phase change, from just "here's a great idea" to an actual functioning reality, the idea needs a champion. The champion is like like the midwife, who guides the idea through the various stages, organizes all the different aspects, communities and individuals who will bring it to fruiting.

Dr. Paul called himself "The Champion of the Constitution." You might call me the Champion of the Daily Paul.

It is not necessarily the person who comes up with the idea that becomes the champion. For this particular idea, it needs a champion with a certain skill set.

It sounds like what we need is someone who can make good videos. We have someone here on the DP who can - tragedy and hope. He's a user here. He used to make Ron Paul videos, but after the campaign ended, he is famous for his Alan Watts videos. He would be a good candidate to make a video. Are there others here?

At any rate - good idea. Step 2 is how do you make that idea a reality.

And one piece of advice: Make the ideas about liberty and freedom - yes.

Just picture a short video explaining why we should bring our troops home, have sound money, cut taxes and spending, balance the budget, end the drug war and give power to the individual while promoting truth, freedom, peace, non-aggression and voluntary humanitarian help to our fellow man.

Absolutely. But don't put Ron Paul in them. This is purely a practical matter. Outside of our little garden at the Daily Paul, Ron Paul is polarizing. People already have set opinions about him, and at this point, it is not going to help to advance the message.

Look beyond Ron Paul. Focus on the message, which is strong enough on its own, not the man. Time to put down the crutch and walk with our own two feet.

Otherwise, GREAT IDEA!

He's the man.

Michael,thanks for responding.

I have posted this many times before on DP and am glad to know that you saw it and like the idea.Hopefully, some great short videos will be posted on this thread/website in the future that promote our shared principles and we can unite behind promoting some of them.We shall see.Thanks.

Now it needs a champion

Who will step up to be the champion and make this idea fly?

He's the man.

Your Quote...

..."If we had a large enough amount of people in America and the world united behind our shared principles, and demanded strict adherence to said principles over politics or parties, then the politicians would truly have to represent us or find themselves out of a job and irrelevant."

That is where the wheels likely fall off the 'liberty-wagon', unless 'our shared principles' are a non-wavering stance on individual liberty and constitutionally-limited government.

Most people do not, in fact, have a rock-solid no-compromising, principle over party (or over whatever) ethic.

All one need do is read the regular stream of comment on many threads to see this.

That said, I would love to see such a cadre of liberty-principled people, because to would indeed engender some critical change.

You should do this

You should do this

Not sure what you mean.Is this sarcasm?

are you suggesting I alone should do this and not encourage people to unite behind promoting shared principles? Please explain..

Not A Bad Idea

I'm sure people can find a little time in their busy schedules to help spread the word. I think the key to an idea like this would be to not have it on just "like minded" sites, but to spread it all over the MSM sites (like comment sections). I believe your main objective is to "awaken" more people to the cause, not just have all of the people who are already "awake" watch the video.

I may have a good solution to this... Use your local T.V. stations' air time to pass the message around. Imagine if you were able to have a "Constitutional Commercial" run during the week right before or during the local news cast. I'm not talking about big city stations like Phiily,New York, Boston,Chicago, etc., I'm talking about places like Lancaster PA, Phillipsburg NJ, Burlington MA; you get the idea. Smaller to medium sized cities will have cheaper rates, and you will reach a huge audience due to the reach of their broadcast into the surrounding area (suburbs, and rural areas).

Just a thought...

Great idea. With some

Great idea.

With some fleshing out, I think this would be a great way to channel our resources and give new folks a friendly landing place.
