Massive Sunspot Rapidly Forming

Feb 20, 2013 | NASA

A giant sunspot that's at least six times the diameter of Earth has formed on the sun in less than 48 hours, according to NASA. Sunspots form when the sun's magnetic fields rearrange and realign. They tend to be unstable and can lead to solar flares.

HUGE Solar flare today!!!

This link goes back 24 hours, so look fast before it is archived:

After years of abnormal quiet, the sun ROARED back to life today - SEVERAL C and M class flares and 2 X flares!

I stand corrected

I thought all the fuss was about the spots that were developing and turning in to facing earth. The one that is turning away is still huge and active, but at least anything it delivers won't be a direct hit.

Space Weather

here is a good site for keeping track of this

and you have a Good Telescope + Solar filter you can see it your self

I figured

My latest computer sometimes goes dark when there is sunspot activity. The screen will go black for a couple of seconds. When it comes back, Windoze shows a popup that says the graphics card quit communicating. So far it has only happened when old Sol was acting up.

Mens hearts failing

The spirit is being with drawn from us on purpose. We need to not be afraid of dying. anything else is fruitless. after all the sting of death is the fear of it and this is why they are able to control the masses. Aside from the fear, there is no death.

We are very powerful spiritual beings and we are living forever. We will simply shed our bodies but all the consciousness, emotions and attitudes we will be taking with us. We will be able to touch, walk, talk and eat but we can't be harmed so long as our personal history is on a positive scale. The negative scale is another matter.

My view about "negativity" or "evil" is that there is no source of it but rather it is a lesser degree of positivity of love frequency - the source of all creation. It is our human perspective that identifies something as "negative". Out in the cosmos, if two planets collide, no other planets weep. It simply IS.

I liken this concept to that of hot and cold. There is actually no such thing as a source of "cold" there is only heat and lesser degrees of it. What you may feel as being "cold" maybe be perfect to someone else. It is subjective.

This is why TPTB use perpetuated FEAR to keep humans from understanding the Truth, much like you need an air conditioner to keep a room cool. You need to impose "evil" upon the Good.

Is NASA the only entity who captured this footage?

I'd personally would like to see other private astronomers who can corroborate NASA's information. The more the merrier.

Been watching these spots for the last couple days

Here's an amazing recent shot of the sunspots (right side):

Hopefully it'll reduce in scale once it comes around again in the next few weeks.

I've noticed that I get sinus pressure when there are chances 20% or more of solar flares. Been feeling stuffed up since these formed. I also feel pressure before a storm but that's a slightly different sensation. Weird stuff.

That's odd.

I get tinnitus.

Energy sensitive beings, we are :)

Amazing how inter-connected we are to the cosmos.

be careful some of that could

be careful some of that could be stressing yourself out

That's why I meditate to counter the stress

if there's a possibility of me having any.

Should we be scared

A solar flare of the magnitude recorded during the early 1860's (aurora borealis visible in Southern AR) could knock out much of the electrical grid and communications in the US. Basically the mode of failure is that a substation ground grid would pick up the energy and current would flow backwards into the transformers possibly causing faults and failures. In more northerly latitudes this is protected against witha reverse current relay on the transformer grounding, but in the US and most of europe this ahs never beena serious concern enough to retrofit thousands of transformers. Of course no one knows what would go down, but solar flares have caused grid failures before, and one as big as historically recorded is likely an order of magnitude larger than the largest measured in modern times. This is one of the most realistic threats to the grid in the US outside of liquered up farmers taking pot shots at the transformers (which does happen, and causes much damage upon occasion)rather than any sort of cyber attack which the press love to talk about. Currently the power industry is being forced to spend significant resources on cyber security (which actually centalizes access and makes a successful attack more likely)when any terrorist cell could probably take down the grid and get away with a couple deer rifles and a map of several substation locations.

Not really

People just may be acting weirder than usual when/if these spots come around again. Perhaps some tech interference if a flare erupts.

Personally, I meditate when we are bombarded by photons. I like to think I'm a plant sometimes :)

That spot already decayed by this morning.

How common is this?

Answers are here

This guy does a spaceweather report every morning. You will learn an amazing amount about sun activity by watching him. The solar stuff is near the end of his report.

The short answer; sunspots appear, grow, morph, and flare or disappear all over the sun.

Yes fishy, I think you've referenced this guy in the past, and

he's got good info. However, he DIDN'T answer my question. The question being;

Not "where" and "how often" sunspots appears on the sun, as both spots and flares are common, BUT "how often" do they appear at this specific "size" or larger(which I originally left out), and, more importantly, "rate".

Sorry if my original question wasn't clearer as I now see that I didn't stress or bold the word "THAT".

Rate info

in general, sunspot activity is the measure used when you hear talk of "solar cycles." We run in roughly 11 year cycles, have recently ended an unusually quiet minimum. We should be seeing a huge increase in the number of spots now, but we are NOT. We are seeing a lot of what this one did - something starts off looking hopeful, then fizzles. And yes, hopeful. We NEED some solar energy, or our magnetosphere will collapse leaving us exposed to - ironically enough - solar rays.
Spend some time exploring the links at S0's channel. If anyone is tracking the data you want, the link will be there.
Size... I don't know what the different formations really mean yet, I am a newbie to the EU stuff, but I know there was a MASSIVE filament facing earth this week, and had it snapped we would have been blasted. It was a much larger formation than the sunspots, but it may be a less damaging form of energy? I don't know. I know the media made no fuss at all about it. As for this spot, they did not even mention it until it was past earth-facing position and collapsing. If you are truly wanting up to date info, S0 is your man. He will provide updates if there is any significant developments. And he hunts through the satellites for you, and brings you the highlights of the day's solar activity. Insanely beautiful stuff!

We'll more than likely get blasted anyway before anyone knows what hit us. Just wondering if this was maybe a typical pattern(if at all a pattern) of when a sun starts dying. Who knows, right?

The only thing remotely/visually similar to my knowledge is a volcano erupting - and that's due(supposedly) to pressure and not electro-magnet energy. But then again, earth to sun = apples to oranges.

Even NASA tracks the negative and positive charges of sunspots

They are most definitely EM in nature.

Gotta Love the Internet!

For me, when this page came up, the ad displayed beneath it was for a solar power company.

It just struck me funny, as if an ant and a human are looking at a dumptruck-sized pile of garbage on the human's front lawn and the ant's response is to go get a piece.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/
