Veterans are receiving letters from Obama administration prohibiting the ownership of firearms...

It appears the confiscation has begun, around the law.

dated early December 2012. Letter went out Dec 20, 2012, I believe.

Where is the letter!!!! Any website that I find that has a mention of this DOES NOT have a copy of the letter. This is simply scare tactics to rile people up. Show me the letter then we can talk.

The Letter is at the bottom

The Letter is at the bottom of the page. It helps to read the entire article instead of knee jerking it.

Under ObamaCare

If this is true, who's next? Under ObamaCare, the government will have access to everyone's medical records, so if you've ever visited a counselor, therapist, etc., or been prescribed an antidepressant or antipsychotic drug, you'll likely be deemed incompetent to purchase, own or possess a firearm.

:) It will get worse.

Families have subtle rewards for turning their old or disabled relatives over to the state. I have watched as the rewards become greater, and the sense of "family bond" becomes weaker. Complicating this, have you ever tried to provide care for someone who IS "following doctor's orders?" Half of them are drugged into near zombiehood. It is VERY easy to explain to even the most loving family member that they really are not qualified, their loved one needs professional care. Oh, you can't afford it? Well, have you considered a reverse mortgage on their home?
If you are not familiar with the term "guardian ad litum" look into it. We are trying to figure out a way to protect me if my husband dies before me, but it looks pretty hopeless. The tuckfards drove me insane and nearly killed me with their "medicine" and now they use it against me at every turn. In their paradigm, 45 years of sanity mean nothing, the recovery is denied because I still insist it was a drug reaction... (Still in denial, dear me....) and... Oh. They piss me off.

Isn't this a great way to save money?

The only way to avoid having your medical records transferred to big brother is not to see a doctor, or see a doctor who doesn't subscribe to the big brother, Orwellian philosophy of Obamacare.

It's time for veterans to

It's time for veterans to file a class-action lawsuit against officials within the Obama administration. Veterans are clearly being targeted since they have the skills to resist tyranny.

Go along with it, IF YOU HAVE TO~~~

But, do NOT register any guns, period. In fact, nobody should be registering any weapons. I don't have any, but if I did I'd sure not be registering any.

Vets have a right to bear arms, just like all the rest of us. It is a SLIPPERY SLOPE we are on, if we allow these LITTLE GOVERNMENT DICTATORS determine "just who" is mentally competent and "just who" is not.

We know where that will lead! In fact, we MUST STOP these bureaucrats, because if we let them have that arbitrary power, all political enemies could be targeted. Pelosi & the bunch of Rinos need and MUST be stopped!

This doesn't have anything to

This doesn't have anything to do with firearms. It's a letter indicating that the VA believes that the veteran may not be able to manage their benefit payments.

I can imagine a few worst-case-scenario situations where this would be true.

I guess you missed this part?

“A determination of incompetency will prohibit you from purchasing, possessing, receiving, or transporting a firearm or ammunition. If you knowingly violate any of these prohibitions, you may be fined, imprisoned, or both pursuant to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, Pub.L.No. 103-159, as implemented at 18, United States Code 924(a)(2).”?

It seems I did!

Hate to say it but I'd like to see the poof and see it confirmed.

Red Flag

Has a scanned copy of the letter he is referring to on the link provided. It clearly is a letter from the VA.

Thank you

and that lack of looking got two upvotes...
It is from the attorney representing the guy, too. I am all for skepticism, but really. Do people expect a personal copy of the letter before they will worry? Because their version of the letter is in development, I would be willing to bet.

When someone has combat experience, they become a veteran. Veteran also means a former member of the armed forces.

An administrative agency including the POTUS

has no lawful authority to do this.

There is a Difference Between...

...'lawful authority' and 'constitutional authority'.

Any legislation passed that is signed into 'law' provides 'lawful authority', yet much of that legislative/lawful hog-schite is textually and glaringly 'unconstitutional'.

Don't want to research it now, but a couple years ago there was legislation up that the NRA and the who's who of democrat gun-grabbers were pushing and supporting, slang-termed the 'veterans disarmament act'. I believe that is likely the basis for this current action.

The NRA and its minions defended it (as usual) and that is the legislation/period where the NRA tried to claim they were playing some sort of high-level 'three-dimensional chess' that we, mere plebeians would not understand, but to trust them.

Interesting thought here, but

Interesting thought here, but if they decare you incompetent, wouldnt this have broader implications? I think you would have to look closely at the details here, but wouldnt you be able to get out of legal troubles by citing that they have declared you as incompetent and therefore cant really be held responsible for actions you take?

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Being declared incompetent now means having a guardian ad litum appointed to "look after your affairs." No, your family cannot, they might take advantage of you. That is the governments job, and they do it VERY well. You get shoved in an institution, your stuff gets taken "to cover expenses." If your family fights too hard, they will be prohibited from seeing you.
Not making up a word of it.

In itself and, if they get away with this, where it can lead:

"If that was the case than all of the Americans who have suffered from PTSD following the loss of a loved one or from being in a car accident would also have to be disqualified from owning firearms. It would also mean that everyone who has ever been depressed for any reason should be disarmed."

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

goes back to the post on "disorders"

Most of these are STATES, a temporary state of mind. Some people get stuck in them permanently, but it is NOT a "disorder" that is inherent in the person.

It is not just veterans..

I have talked to about a half dozen people with spotless records and backgrounds that have been denied handgun purchases. Tyranny is here and it will only get worse. I hope 1775 get's here real quick...we are running out of time.

Withholding your DISABILITY CHECK if you dont comply....WOW

Their attacks seem to never end. I have NEVER visited the VA, and never will.
