Why Isn’t the Murder of an American Boy an Impeachable Offense?

by Jacob G. Hornberger February 20, 2013

Article 2, Section 4, of the U.S. Constitution reads as follows: The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

In 1998, President Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice for matters arising out of the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal.

If perjury and obstruction of justice constitute high crimes or misdemeanors, then doesn’t it seem rather obvious that the murder of an American citizen by the president would also constitute a high crime or misdemeanor, especially if the citizen is a child?

That’s precisely what President Obama, acting through U.S. national-security state agents, did on October 14, 2011. He murdered a 16-year-old American boy who was traveling in Yemen. The boy was Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, who was the son of accused terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki, who the CIA had assassinated two weeks before.

Why did President Obama and the CIA or the military kill Abdulrahman? The president, the CIA, and the Pentagon have all chosen to remain silent on the matter, refusing to even acknowledge that they killed the boy. But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs implicitly provided the justification: “I would suggest that you should have a far more responsible father if they are truly concerned about the well being of their children. I don’t think becoming an al Qaeda jihadist terrorist is the best way to go about doing your business.”

So, there you have it: the boy was apparently killed because he was considered to have the wrong father.

But if that’s a legitimate justification for killing a child, there are obviously a lot more children at risk in this country.

..Why Isn’t Murder an Impeachable Offense?

Because the "news" media is used to villianize the kid and somehow justify it being done; then stay silent on it. Move on to gun violence story to push gun control directly or subliminally. Then on to celebrities and sports.

So yes, a crime was committed...but only if the "news" says so. What a powerful instrument the media is. Right now with the almost complete domination by certain corporations intimately tied to our very government. It is frightening to see what is really happening compared to the reality being created with the controlled system of media and broadcast. Pure lies in many cases, so nefarious that it is hard to believe. Lies that are wrongfully believed by a good part of the population who take it as fact without any investigation of their own.

A house of cards built on a foundation of lies will collapse. Right now they are struggling to get control of the internet. The internet is a really big leak for them...Anyone can spend a few hours looking at the right information and clearly see there is something rotten in Denmark. A few more hours looking at the right information and a person will be outraged at it all. That is happening more and more. We'll see how this all turns out. Give em enough rope and they will hang themselves.

i had a dream, when i was

i had a dream, when i was asleep. a sheriff can deputize 100 deputies and take this country back.

Make that 200 deputies!

Your idea is one of the best I have heard in some time!
Why can't this be implimented at least in some counties?

optimystic's picture

Unless Obie is indicted elsewhere

nothing will happen here. He is a war criminal under the Geneva Convention:

With regard to the younger al-Awlaki, 16-year-old Abdulrahman, who was killed while eating at an outdoor restaurant, it appears incontrovertable that our commander in chief is guilty of war crimes as defined by the Geneva Convention and should be immediately impeached.

List of war crimes
War crimes include the following serious violations of international humanitarian law:

(i) Grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions:
In the case of an international armed conflict, any of the following acts committed against persons or property protected under the provisions of the relevant Geneva Convention:
• wilful killing;

(ii) Other serious violations of international humanitarian law committed during an international armed conflict (continued):
• making the civilian population or individual civilians, not taking a direct part in hostilities, the object of attack;

For those who will argue that Yemen is not party to an international conflict, think again, they are the subject of the declared War on Terror.

I would avoid populist terminology

16yo is not a "child" or "boy", but rather a "teen" or "youth." May be your 16yo son is a "boy" to you, but for a muslim father even 13yo son is a man.

We are...

We are talking US law here and that makes the victim a "child" since he was less than 18 years old.

I said years ago;.....

if Bush wasn't impeached, no American president will ever be impeached again.

I remember when the Republicans controlled the House, Representative John Conyers (Democrat) was deeply concerned so much that he held unofficial hearings in the closet of the basement about Bush's illegal abuse of power and War Crimes (which is when I first became aware of Cindy Sheehan).

But then in 2006, once John Conyers became The Chairman of the Judiciary Committee (and no longer just a minority member), and had real power to do something about it, then there were no hearings at all held, no testimony, no evidence review, and the idea of impeachment hearings was declared "off the table" and laughed away.

The only guy who tried was Dennis Kucinich. But not even Ron Paul would stick his neck out to support the lonely Impeachment attempt by Dennis Kucinich.

Only one guy in Washington really cared (and Obama later took away his district).

Lawless Nation

It Is

but who's gonna do it? They are all in bed together. The Supreme court is even siding with Monsanto. Do you really expect justice out of criminals?

If Bush had done this, the left would have exploded.

Literally, their heads would have exploded.

But Obama has done this, and the Reich-Wing doesn't explode (they like that).

Instead, they create a lot of phony outrage about Obama being a "socialist", when in truth he is a Neocon, Corporatist, and buddy to the Banksters and Foreign rule of our Country.

Which is exactly why they have Obama doing it

Think of the anti-war movement. Obama wins, poof, it's gone. More war is ok now. So is killing children I suppose.

No lie!

After the 2008 election, I thought I'd join the peace group in town to keep "active." Like a puff of smoke, dissipated into the ethers...
I tried to get Occupy to meet on common ground, too. Locally at least, it turned out to be a very exclusive "99%."

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

Spread this story?

What an awesome way to spread awareness about this to the left. Tell this story as though it was happening in 2005, and that George W. Bush gave approval to an attack that resulted in the death of an innocent American boy. You know, post this on a facebook or a blog, and once people react, make your corrections!

Good, solid kung fu!

I'd buy that for a dollar!

What would the Founders do?
