Lawmakers prioritize banning bare boobies over medical marijuana

Over the last 4 years, North Carolina medical cannabis advocates have been working towards legislation that would allow them to use cannabis as medicine. Operating on a 2 year legislative cycle, the last version was ignored and died in the Rules Committee. So this year, we held an educational rally at the Capitol (youtube.com/watch?v=DItKhQMLijM) and mobilized a campaign of calls, emails, letters and personal visits with our Representatives. Most of our participants, BTW, are patients themselves or family members of patients. So, rather than just ignoring our bill, committee members killed it...

"We did it to be done with it, so people could move on for the session," said Rep. Paul "Skip" Stam, R-Wake. He said lawmakers we're being "harassed" with phone calls and emails about medical marijuana.

Obviously, our Representatives have more pressing matters to attend to, like advancing legislation that would ban the baring of female breasts on a state-wide level...

No boobies, no doobies.

God was wrong to make either. Or all three. Whatever.
