What the 1% Heard During Obama's State of The Union?

By Shamus Cooke, Countercurrents | Op-Ed

When President Obama speaks, most Americans hear what he wants them to hear: lofty rhetoric and a "progressive" vision. But just below the surface the president has a subtly-delivered message for the 1%, whose ears prick up when their buzzwords are mentioned. Obama's State of the Union address was such a speech – a pro-corporate agenda packaged with chocolate covered rhetoric for the masses; easy to swallow, but deadly poisonous.

Mr. Shamus Cook defends the socialist ideas of the PUREST breed

Yes, let us call a spade "a spade", shall we?

For some reason, I can't quite imagine Mr. Cooke has evolved significantly ever since he wrote this - 9 months ago:

Enjoy your reading! The last four paragraphs are PURE delight.

Anyone giving ANY credit to Mr. Cooke's understanding of things or his true intents?

On this end:

well, certainly NOT I, my friends in liberty.

...

You're BUSTED, Mr. Cooke, I have read enough from you to see who you are, thanks again!

I don't care for a second that you find your King ObaMARX...

... NOT SOCIALIST ENOUGH.

But, TRUE, I'll be fighting YOUR rhetoric all the more fiercely, mind you.

"Cyril" pronounced "see real". I code stuff.

Umm...

This website/article is clearly pro-socialism, basically arguing that Obama is planning to reduce government handouts. I seriously doubt that.

Why is this author...

...posting this comment here? The article is advocating federal involvement in health care. I understood this site to be more interested in following the constitution (among other very good causes).

According to the constitution, the federal government should not be involved in health care in the first place. For people who care about their health or financial effectiveness, the feds do not provide either. They are the most easily influenced by special interests who do not have your best interests in mind. If you want good health care, eliminate the Feds involvement and give more responsibility to the states.

Keep in mind, if you are comfortable with the idea of getting rid of the constitution as the law of the land for your particular pet project, be prepared for all of the constitution to be taken away. Including free speech, rights to trial, privacy, etc.

The author of this piece is a

The author of this piece is a huge socialist. Shamus Cooke is a social service worker, trade unionist and writer for Workers Action. This taxfeeder has probably never had a real job in his life.

Thank you....

Good

Let's hope the author's right and that we cut Medicaid and Medicare, we inject more private money into our educational system, and that we get freer international trade.
