Argumentum ad Absurdum: 99% Taxation Will Grow Economy Super Good.

Seems like there's been plenty of discussion supporting a taxation rate of 0%. Those who don't agree say there has to be some taxation for society or government or whatever to work. Sure our roads and electrical grid are nice now. But how much nicer could they be if the tax rate was 100% for everybody?

Please help me compile a list of all the wonderful things we can expect with a 100% taxation rate. A few that suggest themselves:

-Food stamps for everyone
-Plenty of government housing projects
-Doctors everywhere because education would be free!

And best of all, people will take extra-good care of the housing and electrical grid because they will have that good-old feeling of pride that comes with shared ownership.

(update)

Thanks for all the input. I have voted on all the ideas submitted and have decided that a taxation rate of 99% would be the best rate for stimulating economic expansion and for making happiest workers.

Taxation of 99% will leave happy worker with 1% of their earnings. This means that worker will have to earn 99x more money to maintain current satisfaction levels of glorious society. 99x more work will result in most favorable abundance and future worker glory.

This is all. Return to work. Your paycheck will be docked for the time you took to read this. This is all.

Meant to update this a while ago. "sorry"

The consensus is that a 99% taxation rate would not only make people work harder, but it would also increase the value of the dollar since they'd be so hard to come by. Like find your butt in the dark while standing on your head. That hard.

At least two cops in every home

At a 100% tax rate I wouldn't be able to buy ammo or guns, so I would expect two cops in my home to protect me. One cop wouldn't be sufficient since he wouldn't have cover fire to provide tactical movement in a fire fight, so I would need at least two. Also, I would need a supervisor for those two cops, stationed in my home, to make sure none of those two cops molested my daughter. Better make it three cops for every family.

Might be easier to just make everybody a cop.

...The regular cops would be the national police force and the role of supervisor you mentioned could be played by some sort of, I don't know what you'd call it, secret police or something.

:)

And the better at policing someone is the more they will get paid leading to increased tax revenue and a higher standard of living...

If you are using the arbitrary fictional title of any United(6) States(6) Person(6) which includes citizens and corporate offices with an intent to profit for the love of money using nature's resources given to man ... I propose all government franchises including citizens and corporations be taxed at 100%.

One can only hope taxation is effective at reducing things as claimed because there ought to be a reduction in the amount of government franchised citizens and corporations with limited liability serving the master of money in society passing off their costs of business unto other people.

You're a century late with your question. 100% tax started 1913!

The Fed pretends to allow the US government to borrow into existence every Federal Reserve Note in existence. Call it a 100% tax if you want. Our cash is all borrowed into existence. Cannot pay off our National Debt, for each Dollar.... Well, enough said.

Until some wise & wonderful citizen figures out how to pay off a Fed Note promise with another one of the same ilk, we are still on the hook.

Line & sinking.

End the Fed. - Ron Paul

They've caught us - crooked lyin' stinkers.

Are you suggesting that the money was loaned at interest,
so from the first day the first $100 had a penny of interest owed,
but the penny had to be borrowed too?

Insanity I tell you! That could never work!

It doesn't.

Much worse! $1 out-of-thin-air begot a debt of $1 @ interest.

Central Banks boast of principal, though they be lacking. Tis a boast.

Read "End the Fed" by Doctor Ron Paul. Study the First National Bank of the US, "Ain't Worth a Continental" (and how those worthless bank notes were then redeemed & again indebted our young nation). Ending the 20 charter of the First National Bank. Followed abruptly by "War of 1812."The Second National Bank" & subsequently, "Den of Vipers" speech lambasting the "American Banker Association" audience. Speech given directly by President Andrew Jackson to the aforementioned.

No ~ Many take printing money way to seriously. Those indebted, even more so. I am still here... wondering.

OK, I think we've established that 100% taxation doesn't work.

How about just 99%?

And I don't want to hear a peep from any of you 98%-ers. You are all rabblerousers who disgrace the People's Party.

Yes. 100% tax does not work... For us having to pay anyway.

You see, there is no way to pay. What is deceptively called a Federal Reserve monetary system, plays monopoly. It appoints itself as the banker with its very own Monopoly Money. Need I go on? And on? For a century? Or make it two?

Could this be a sad joke? But who's the joker?: https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s480x... Who is joking whom?

All the supposed money created out of this system drained the gold & silver from the USA. Tis gone from our money system. We have but tokens to tender. Monopoly-money is in common circulation in place of money. Promissory notes & copper-clad tokens of esteem.

How can you harness your team without your horses? Who is pulling whom?

There's more issues here than

There's more issues here than just taxation. Imagine if tomorrow, in a single act, there was a 100% tax rate.

What about your state or municipal taxes?
-They'd go unpaid. And even if state tax made a full exemption for federal tax, now you have a case of the states receiving zero income tax revenue.
-Property taxes would also go unpaid.

What about existing contracts?
-With essentially no new income, essentially loans would be unpayable and would enter default.
-Employment contracts would also be reneged, because people tend to stop working when they stop getting paid.

What about what's already out there?
-Is the government going to confiscate your personal or real possessions? If they do, do they realize that all too many (knowing that confiscation is imminent) will bug-in and shoot back against invaders?
-And through this, how do you deal with the deaths of LEOs? Do you recruit new LEOs or, when the existing ones are killed, do you start drafting people? And if you draft them, how do you differentiate between a possible rebel and a loyal officer?

Look, it's a bad idea. You will end up with extralegal organizations (gangs, cartels, rebelling militias, treasonous military units, etc). Maybe that's better than a slowly expanding State, but it's the path to disaster for the rest of us. Power corrupts, and those that seek power are disproportionately abusers of power.

I think I would

stop working at 100% tax rate. Why bother, 'they' are taking care of everything right?
