Have you made any friends here on the Daily Paul?

I consider all of us here friends. But have you made any real friends? I mean, someone that you've emailed with outside the DP? Or beyond that, spoken with on the telephone, or skyped with? Or even beyond that, met up with in the physical world?

I have often wondered about that. The DP is its own online ecosystem, but I wonder how far that ecosystem extends into the physical world?

If you haven't made any real friends here, you should try it. You can contact other members by clicking on their username, and hitting the "contact" tab (if they have it activated) and sending them a note.

Curious to hear your experiences, if you would like to share.

No DP friends here! :)

To be honest, the only person I would probably trust to meet would be you Michael, lol.

So if you are ever in central Switzerland let me know and I will be happy to meet you personally.

I try to change people every day. Do You?

It is weird at first

Trusting people on here. It takes time, getting to know someone over email. But people's character really shines through the words.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, though! I've been to Switzerland once. Nice place. I'll let you know the next time I'm passing through, lol (probably not any time soon, though).

Let me know if you're going to be in Boston in the next 3 months or so. After that, I'm not sure where I'll be.

It does take time.

I have a writing deficiency. I strive to improve, but have accepted that it is not my calling. I prefer/enjoy face to face, a firm handshake [soft for girls] and eyes are easily read :-)

No, Proud American, don't

No, Proud American, don't give a soft handshake to a woman! Whenever a man gives me one of those gentle handshakes, I think "what a wuss."

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

That is sooo true.

I warn you both..

I give a *very* firm handshake. Careful what you wish for, lol ;-)

What happened to guys being guys and girls being [tongue hanging out] girls? Is this part of the UN agenda?!

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

tongue hanging out?

Whatever kind of handshake, real is where it's at (that would exclude the UN Agenda).

Real as it gets.

Joan is very cool, but I'm man enough to say that when a girl makes my tongue hang out.. whoa!!

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

It wasn't about Joan

It was about answering your question about men and women.. androgeny.

I know.

But I only answer questions that pertain to me. Unless it has nothing to do with me.

It was easier to make friends when you had the "contact" option on our accounts, and maybe you still have that on the Pro statis, which I declined (because I have watched DP change many times over the years and I like to see who is advertizing, and I'm not so literate on the computer). To me, this is a family, a tribe whose members come, bloom (wake up to Ron Paul's message of Liberty, restoring the republic) we educate each other, support and vent on each other, respect and tolerate, appreciate and search to downvote ;))

I have made many connections over two Ron Paul presidential campaigns. The first I refused to join the GOP, and that made one group of friends, and I got flack from the ones who joined the GOP, and the last one, I joined the GOP, so it reversed, except I still have friends from DP who are not GOP and live around the world and one day, I hope to meet them soon.

I would love to have an event.. like to me, this is a perfect time to begin planning a for a "P.Au.L. fest", or a Liberty Tour. Leave Ron Paul, Rand Paul, all politicians out of it, have speaches about Liberty issues from an educational perspective, not a political one, so you can go into the not politicaly correct areas, of conspiracy (ufo's, 911, any and all fringe ideas) have vending .. invite authors, but limit speaches to not be political (let the people fill that vacuum, because they will). You know plenty of bands.. get some corporate back up for a tech support and have wireless communications, excite young moviemakers into having an event to film. Try to keep admission affordable (one way to do this is to have a free area that has vending, it could include the child care and games area.. this actually enables more people to come so it's a consideration for families that can't afford evryone, or kids that want to be kids even though they are among adults..

Well.. anyways. Yes, I have made friends, some who I have met, and some who I have not, some are aquaintences, and some I have never met and LOVE them very very very very much. I would like to meet more friends from DP.. let's tour!

Good idea.

I've been toying with the idea of an annual event once we get the farm set up to feed people and have a camping area.
We were talking to a guy a couple weeks ago who just put in an campground, and the septic only cost him an extra $1500. We want to be able to house interns, so we are probably going to go for it, but it may take a few years.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

Granger - you can still contact others

Click on their username, and there should be a contact tab.

People can turn it off, however, if they don't want to be contacted. I'm one of the people who have turned it off, as I got overwhelmed with a lot of spammy type requests.

But I can see yours is on. Try some other people. Click on their user name, and the contact tab is way over at the end, on the right.

I will click on other's links and see for myself.

If I may, just want to tell you THANK YOU for giving me the DP tribe, where I have made friends (even have three chickens named for DPers) and let me tell you, they do not agree with me 100%, some agree with me, maybe 50%. My friends on DP are not afraid to tell me they don't agree and why. They are also very supportive when they do agree, and step up to be counted, sometimes on DP, which is always a nice surprize and unexpected, and greatly appreciated.

We respect each other as individuals.. ((((MN))) the people from DP that went through Katrina and Sandy Hook, the long weeks of power outages, and situations people came into and brought here, shared, the DP tribe on the level where posters become more than "troll", or virtual enity, but a real human with conditions and experiences we learn from each other, because we are open to loving each other, enrichening the Liberty experience.

THANK YOU for that gift in my lifetime (((((((((((((MN))))))))))))).

I have!

Recently moved to a new state and met a few fellow DP's at a local restaurant. Hope to get together with them again soon!

You blew us off the last time! Keep in touch Seth, we enjoy your company :-)

My sincere apologies!

I think I was busy moving into my new location (still in the area) that week and then I got sick immediately after since I spent all day moving our stuff in the rain.

Very sorry about that. I didn't mean to blow anybody off. =(

must have been the wings

it was eggs, iirc, lol.

On the Job Last Year I Saw an RP Bumper Sticker...

Walking up the driveway I met a delegate for Dr. Ron Paul, at an RP Rally met another delegate for the good Doc. One is also a regular Daily Pauler, the other visits the site.

It is a small world, and one commented there are many of us (Liberty Folks) around, he was supporting RP since the Libertarian Presidential run.

Hooked me up with some awesome tunes. Love Craig Chaquico !!

If this had been any other type of site than a political one

promoting the much hated Liberty ideas by "our government" then yes, there are a few that I would have probably met.

It is what it is and I want to stay out of Gitmo for as long as possible. :)

I don't respond to emails or pm's.

As long as possible, lol

If/when I/we turn up missing the others will know the deal :-)

You'd be fun to hang with, rp.

Yeah I say some funny stuff sometimes without meaning too.. What I MEANT was, I didn't want to come off as "I'll never get caught" doing anything "wrong" by their standards. :)

Yeah, you too.. I had you, jrd, emalvini and a few others in mind.. Who knows.. Maybe when Liberty has made it past the point of "no return", we can all have a BBQ, a few beers/smoke (whatever the individual prefers) and laugh about all of this. :)

"and laugh about all of this"

Well that sounds like a great plan. Maybe you will even listen to me incoherently ramble about aliens for a little bit. No worries you don't have to pretend it makes sense, you just have to pretend you're listening :)

Either way, it's nice to see I made the list.

Now, in regards to another thread. Can you maybe stop sending people to Alaska. I have been saving for land for a long time and I am not quite there yet I need about 2 more years, however, at the rate you're promoting Alaska by the time I get there all the land will be gone.

but I almost met Jefferson at the SRLC last year.

I know alot of us are anti-Facebook but I always wondered why we did not try to network in the real world more.

Anyone willing/wanting to be my friend on FB, private message me! As long as you check out that you are not a troll, I would love to have you as my friend on FB!

Seems we have a disconnect on the local level.. imagine being able to hit up just 3/4 friends on FB to protest or show support for a candidate in the early stages of a primary. Any one of us that has gone to GOP meetings or worked in any campaign understands how few people it takes to change the system.

Just my .02c :)

I think

I still have your number in my phone. I remember thinking you were some hot girl from your profile pic. I'll never forget the disappointment when I heard a dude on the other end getting a tattoo, just before coming down. Just kidding man. I was looking forward to meeting you anyway.....;)

It's too bad we couldn't hook up. We had a good time at the brewery there. It was fun to hang with "Kat" as well, even though she and I never stayed in touch afterwards.
Here's a quick video "Nui" did of our trip. 20+ hours in the car and 3 days condensed into 1 minute 23 seconds.

Good times.

Thats so funny..

After watching the video, I remember scribbling out every other name on the ballot and circling the doc's name about ten times.. then drawing a bunch of arrows pointing to his name!

The year before I missed my flight. I called one of our group leaders and when they said he lost by a single vote I nearly broke my phone.

I dunno if you are supporting Rand but I hope he gets the same amount of energy from us.
