Oxford in uproar over union motion to boycott Israel

Threatening emails, accusations of racism and walkout by George Galloway follow motion at students' union

Conal Urquhart | The Guardian Observer | Saturday 23 February 2013

Students at Oxford University will this week vote on a controversial motion to boycott Israel, after a tumultuous week that has seen hate mail, accusations of racism and a furious exit from a debate by MP George Galloway .

The Oxford University Students' Union (OUSU) meets on Wednesday to decide finally on a motion backing the boycott of Israel, its companies and institutions. The motion, which would be tabled at the National Union of Students conference in Sheffield in April, calls on the student body to join the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, in protest at Israel's treatment of Palestinians and its hindrance of attempts to create a Palestinian state.

Both the proposer and the seconder of the motion have received threatening emails: the seconder has withdrawn his support and the proposer has requested that her name not be publicised.

For such a move to be a

For such a move to be done properly, the supposed human rights violations should be documented.

In FACT, Palestinians are able to take refuge, at times, inside Israel when avoiding religious or lifestyle persecution from the various warlord powers in Palestine.

You guys are good at shaking off a lot of propaganda, but you fall for this line. It IS complicated, I grant, but it is blatant foolishness to think that the evils done by warlords and gangs in Palestine are lesser than Israel's measures of self-protection--You suppose that the statist media points your attitude in the right direction on this one subject. Yeah, right.

Try reading a version of history on this matter, that the schools don't approve of.

We may be dumb as sheep, but we herd like cats, and are more clever than monkeys. What sane person would think us cattle?

Economic activism is effective and moral

It is the polar opposite of political activism -- which is why the NWO tries to command everyone to be political activists.

"Vote or die!" Ha, as if.

The motion for boycott to be rejected

Currently there are only six votes in favor of the motion, around 64 against and 17 abstentions according to sources. Oxford University’s collegiate system is made up of 38 colleges and six private halls founded by various Christian denominations. Each college has a “junior common room” that votes at the OUSU. The number of votes each college has is determined by the size of the college.

Any other plan... Let alone such an achievable, moral, and just solution... It would isolate and shine the light on the real terrorists and the assets that must be siezed and held, pending further investigation... We The People of the WORLD Will Be looking into it.
