New video of Russian meteorite emerges

Ok here is what is going to happen

Our government, in their endless wisdom, will try to "save us" from an eminent asteroid threat. One that is coming within..."fill in the number of miles here"... of hitting earth, so we must take it down.

We will blast the asteroid, and it's debris will kill hundreds if not thousands. Their response, per the usual, "Imagine if we hadn't knocked it out of it's orbit that it has been traveling for millions of years (you know, the one that has kept it out of reach and not killed thousands), it would have killed us all!

The idea to put up lots of meteor satellites is a dam good one.

Problem = "asteroids"
Reaction = "we need way to prevent annihilation from outer space"
Solution = install orbiting weapons systems
Reality = weapons can be directed to targets on Earth

But these Earth Facing weapons are there now.
Trones are here now.
Armies are here now.
Any US ship on either the Atlantic to the Pacific can
shoot any target over 1500 miles inland.
Any US airforce base can be over any US target inside of 9 minutes.

meanwhile...

There is a REAL threat of Meteors from Outer Space. A REAL threat to Mankind. A REAL threat to life on Earth.

Count me in for directing the nations of the world to pitch in and work together to face that REAL threat.

Mankind is a wonderfully cooperative being when faced with an external threat. I can think of no better enemy than Texas Size Meteors racing 575,000 mile per hour straight for planet Earth.
