Why do many think Ron a "nutcase" while liking Rand?

It's a phenomenon I've observed since Rand won the Senate seat - many 'mainstream' Republican types think Ron a "nut", but these same folks love Rand.

To me, Ron and Rand speak the same language. Sure, Ron can be more 'blunt', and Rand a bit 'smoother', but does that alone explain this phenomenon?

Any theories or explanations?

Agreed.

Rubio and Christie have the same issues all the other GOP candidates have. Even the GOP people who don't like Rand would vote for him if he was the nominee, but just like with Ron, most of us liberty minded folk won't vote for the GOP nominee if it is just another establishment goon. If the GOP wants to win, they need us, and they need a few percent of the left wing who would be swayed by those ideas of social freedom that most Republicans don't subscribe to.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

I agree with this

I hope it keeps working.

you hit

the nail on the head.

Simply because Ron is more

Simply because Ron is more consistently libertarian than Rand.

There's nothing a mainstream Republican hates more than a consistent libertarian calling them out on their hypocrisy.

Ron set up the pins....

...so Rand could knock them down. It's as simple as that. Ron laid the ground work so Rand could be in the position he is in. The people who think Rand is so different from Ron are the sort of people who get fooled by politicians all the time. Unfortunately for society, these people decide the elections each year. Fortunately for us, Rand has been put in the perfect position to gain those voters, and sneak a liberty minded individual into the White House.

People love politicians.

And sexy women having eye-rolling fits telegraphing to them how to think.

Go figure.

Rand aims to win

Does Rand know?

Yes Rand Knows

But the people are behind Rand, not Karl and his pay offs like Rubio.

Want to say THANK YOU and put a note in the mail to you.

You are welcome Grang.

No need for a note. Just have fun.

How is the fast? You don't seem like your normal bubbly

(((((((Granger))))))))

self.

Drink some miso.

I forget to get miso

twice! Actually, I'm having fun, and the fast has been so good, it's kinda unreal how I have been so blessed to not feel hunger, or to hurt, but getting things done, all notes are in the mail, and I will have a follow up! I got my nails done today, and will get my hair done tomorrow and thursday, I'm off to Sacramento and hope to make my first report. LOL (((((((((ducky))))))))))

Thanks for reminding me about the miso.. I got to get that tomorrow.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine

The neocons think it's cute to hate Ron and love Rand because they're never going to admit Ron was right. They are being spoon fed by Rand all the standards so they like him. Rand goes to Israel--Rand speaks about our enemies overseas (Muslim extremists to the neocons). Yada yada yada. Rand speaks the only language these people understand. AND, their media favorites are now promoting Rand in order to get more ratings. Glenn Beck, Hannity, etc. Suckers. They're being chumped, but I don't mind one bit.

When you break it down, the

When you break it down, the only reason mainstream republicans thought Ron was a "kook" was because of his foreign policy. Rand does not have his dad foreign policy so therefore not a "kook" It is all about Israel

Can you say "Israel"?

Every sellout boils out to Zionist pressure, which is overwhelming, here in the good ole USA.

Why do many think Ron a "nutcase" while liking Rand?

Because the little box in their living room tells them to.

they most definitely do not speak the same language

Ron speaks the truth. Rand speaks truth wrapped in thick bacon strips of politics, which kill all the flavor of the truth.

I Think You Said It...

... in your statement above. Ron Paul is more blunt and that seems to turn off more moderate Republicans. We all know Rand Paul pretty much believes the exact same thing as Ron yet, like you said, he says it in a more "bipartisan" and "common-sense" way. I also think the medias portrayal of him definitely helps.

I never could figure this out.

I have a Sister who vehemently hates Ron, blames him for Romney losing ect. ect. yet thinks the world of Rand. There is no logical reason. The only thing that I can think of is that most "mainstream" Republicans are followers. They tune into Hannity, or Rush, or Beck to learn what their opinion of a person or law ought to be, rather than to fully inform their personal debate. Since Rush and Beck haven't started spewing hate and vitriol about Rand yet, they still think he is OK. The question is, when those guys go to pull the rug out from underneath Rand, will they remember that once he was considered a great chioce or will it all dissapear down the memory hole? "Oceana has always been at war with Eurasia"....right? BTW I think the answer to this question is critical to understanding how liberty canidates are maligned, and how to avoid this fate for our future canidates.

1984 Theme of Warfare

1984 depicts warfare as a necessary tool and symptom of a totalitarian state. Oceania, one of the three superstates of the world, is in constant warfare with one of the other two. This is necessary, as warfare keeps citizens in constant flux and fear – they then willingly submit to the control of the Party. Only after this submission can the Party regulate supply and demand to ensure classism, and ultimately, power.

Thanks Josh, hadn't thought about that in a long time.

I've noticed it too

and can only surmise that the media has done a very good job painting different pictures of the two men. Ron Paul also has more history and the media uses some of that in an unappealing light.

And since people refuse to do their own research and hang on every word spewed from the media...

The more they trash Ron paul - the more I support him.
