Judge Discards Video Evidence of Philadelphia Cop Sucker Punching Puerto Rican Woman - VIDEO

MENSAH M. DEAN | Daily News Staff Writer | Wednesday, February 27, 2013

THOUGH ex-cop Jonathan Josey was acquitted by a judge Tuesday of assaulting a woman he was filmed punching last September, the fight is still on and will only intensify, the woman's enraged attorney thundered after leaving court.

"What took place today was an injustice. It was injustice to Ms. Guzman, it was an injustice to the Puerto Rican-Hispanic community," said attorney Enrique Latoison, who said he is suing Josey.

His client, Aida Guzman, 40, fought back tears and declined to comment as Latoison told reporters that he also plans to ask officials at the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the case and possibly file federal civil-rights charges against Josey, 41, who was fired after cellphone video went viral of him punching Guzman following the city's Sept. 30 Puerto Rican Day Parade.

"Understand, if this can take place on camera, ask yourself, what could take place off of camera?" Latoison said.

Judge married to philly cop...

The video showing Philadelphia Police Lt. Jonathan Josey punching a woman was overwhelming enough for his department to quickly fire him last year.

But it wasn’t enough for a judge to find him guilty of simple assault this week.

Now we’re learning that Municipal Judge Patrick Dugan is married to a longtime Philadelphia police officer who just happened to be one of about 100 officers in court showing their support for Josey during his non-jury trial earlier this month.

Obviously, it’s not always sunny in Philadelphia.

This is the court

re-victimizing her. I wish the judge could be sued, too.

Defend Liberty!

What did the woman say before

being punched? Clearly, the black guy did not like her words, not actions (although he might indeed mistook her for someone else.) Since women and Hispanics, in general, embrace affirmative actions, political correctness, and "hate" crimes, I see no reason why they themselves deserve blind justice. Let's hear what the woman said, so we can decide on the politically correct fairness.

How can you say that?

It doesn't matter what she said. That was wrong.

I know

My question is should the policeman be charged with hate crime or not.

Freeze the video at 2 secs.

You will see a guy way to the left in black shorts throw liquid from a bottle. He's almost off camera. Looks like it landed on the cop's shirt.

I'm guessing the cop thought it was her as she had a bottle of drink and made 2 + 2 = 5 and hit the hell out of her!

Still a terrible violation all the same though.

Yep I think the cops got splashed and she was

in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The instigator wrongly threw the water but the police didn't have the right to punch anyone in retaliation, much less the lady.

Roid heads are all vying to be the new nazi SS. Something tells me they are going to be good at it too

Let this guy know exactly what you think of his judgement.

He had to run her down to punch her! I really find his story, very, very, difficult to believe!

Soemone Should Have

Knocked that fool the F out, see how he likes it laid out flat on his ass. He deserves it, she did not. Big difference.

This is an outrage!

Filming police?! Throw the person doing the filming in jail for life! (yes, sarcasm).

all in a day's work

For our brave boys in blue (or white) and first responders who put their fists in harms way for our freedom and security

I'll bet my left nut this guy is back on the job within a year

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

This is their problem

", it was an injustice to the Puerto Rican-Hispanic community,". Enough of the grouping BS in this country, this was an American getting sucker punched by a man law gave power too.

its just one big fancy club

and were not in it.

So tired of waking up and seeing terrible acts by fellow citizens; wanna wake up and see us win a few here kinda past due now

I call upon the good people of this county to protect and defend the Constitutions of the United States of America and this State from all enemies foreign and domestic and meet at such and such a place at such and such a time to orderly reestablish a grand jury of American people for the purpose of indicting criminal abuses of discretion or excesses of jurisdiction of government agents by true bull in a common law venue.

Like it or not what has to happen has to happen. The cycle of freedom to tyranny which has repeated itself throughout history because of the ignorance of men confirms it.

Like it or not those famous Patrick Henry quotes or other tirades about people wearing chains of servitude are as true today as they were over two hundred years ago as they were two thousand years ago.

It matters not what others do. It only matters what those people who recognize the current injustices as the evil they are, do or don't do.

To add insult to injury -

Josey even took to Facebook to celebrate. He posted a picture of himself striking a triumphant pose and changed his name on the page to "Jonathan ManofSteel Josey."

I'm guessing since "teflon" was already taken.

The judge is a traitor to all

The judge is a traitor to all americans, get a rope.

It was an "accident"

During the one-day, nonjury trial on Feb. 12, Josey testified that he had been trying to knock a beer bottle from her hand and was surprised that he had instead punched her, causing her mouth to bleed.

That is still assault, and not believable

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

He's the man.

the diverse woman got a serving of diversity from a diverse cop. more news at 11.

He really cracked her one...WOW!!

holy tits

That was a hell of a punch. Way beyond the crude knee to the ribs i am used to seeing over and over.

Shame on the other cops for watching and not cuffing him

bad judges

allow bad cops. If we could fix the judges in this country in short order we would fix the bad cops.

Holy hell do I agree

100%. Judges allow the bad policy to go on. Isn't there some sort of immunity judges get from ruling? I'll try to look that up in the mean time...
