Glenn Beck Pleads Libertarians To Welcome Newcomers
Submitted by No.7 on Wed, 02/27/2013 - 20:21Drew Martin telling it like it is. Listen up folks, be nice to noobs! I agree with Drew and GB, welcome the new guys! (Including GB)
"As a movement it’s imperative we ask ourselves a serious question: Are we more interested in maintaining a personal sense of moral superiority to those who don’t always agree with us or is our primary goal to substantively change policy and turn our ideals into tangible reality?"
"Libertarianism, if anything, is a political philosophy rooted in humility. We tend to reject any “pretense of knowledge” and passionately defend the primacy of the individual. We believe in the marketplace of ideas, and yet somehow seem to abandon such concepts when it comes to engaging in politics. Insisting on a dogmatic, one-size-fits-all approach is not only counterproductive but runs counter to our convictions. Tweet it:
The purpose of the libertarian movement should be to change hearts and minds toward liberty. This inevitably involves forming alliances with those who agree with us on certain issues whether it be economic liberty, personal freedom, or foreign policy, even if they don’t accept libertarianism wholesale.
Building a movement that seeks to meet with individuals where we can be united poses the greatest threat to the authoritarians in both parties."

Happy to Accept Newcomers
...but probably not Glenn Beck, as there are enough turds in the punch bowl already.
Though it would be nice to see him "proclaim ‘mea culpa’ for his past defenses of social and neo-conservatism...”
GB is far from perfect
but I encourage him to continue spreading the message. I believe he is helping people wake up even if it's only for his own personal gain.

Co-opt
Of course we'll accept new comers who are sincere, and not out to infiltrate and destroy. Buck Feck!
Your morals =/= my laws.
It's not Glenn Beck's article, I suggest you read it.
What is the goal of the rEVOLution?
Is the movement about being better or more Libertarian than Glenn Beck or is the movement about effectively changing the status quo and liberating ourselves and others?
