Update: City of Austin goes off the deep end

35 Approve a resolution signifying the City Council's intent to endorse efforts to develop a comprehensive approach to reducing gun crime.
APPROVED

Now the City of Austin can go on the boycott list!
================================================================

At tomorrow's meeting of Austin's "non-partisan" City Council, members will vote on an assault to our second amendment protected right to self-defense!!

The proposed Resolution calls on "leaders at the state and federal level to enact legislation that limits the size of ammunition magazines, [and] puts reasonable restrictions on public ownership of military-style guns."

Additionally language includes:
"That the City Council strongly supports Mayor Lee Leffingwell's membership in Mayors Against Illegal Guns, endorses the statement and efforts of the organization, and supports President Obama's effort to develop a comprehensive approach to reducing gun crime."

The resolution also entertains a "suggestion that a gun show organizer could provide a central area for attendees to undergo one background check before making any firearm purchase at the show."

What part of
"...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" do they not understand?!

Austin is a primary target because of Alex Jones.

If this move to disarm the people in Austin is successful in Alex Jones' hometown, then everywhere else in America will be next. They are meeting force-with-force by going after the very heart of the 2nd Amendment, Austin, TX.

I doubt it. Austin was crazy long before Alex.

Buncha bureaucrats there.

How did the vote go? Give us an update!

Nooo!!!

This is bull.. Luckily there is a large group of liberty-minded individuals here in Austin.. Unfortunately they are outnumbered by ignorant liberals who want government controlled everything

"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty."

-Thomas Jefferson

I figured Austin would be the first city to do this.

Austin is one of the only sparse 'blue dots' in a huge 'red' state. Lots of liberals here.

Can't wait for the video

I wish I could post a live feed for this.

You've got to be kidding me.

If there had been more of a heads up, there could have been a huge turnout. Austin...sigh.

How can this happen...

In AJ's back yard?

I'm a Texan but I don't live in Austin.

If you folks in the Capitol City need any help, get the word out.
