Why the Woodward drama is a FAILSubmitted by samadamscw on Thu, 02/28/2013 - 00:14
So Bob Woodward has taken Obama to the woodshed over his attempt to pander for tax increases by claiming he can't "protect America" because of the sequester.
Woodward is no hero here.
He fails on two fronts:
- Projecting power into foreign waters and territories—ala sending an air craft carrier battle group to the Persian Gulf—is not "protecting America," unless we are under a declaration of War. Since we are not, such an act is merely chest thumping at the least, and out right unlawfully aggressive at worst.
- There's nothing wrong with not being able to conduct a war of opportunity because of financial constraints. In fact, this is one of the high selling points of a hard monetary system and one of the major negatives of a fiat or a debt based currency. Easy 'money' enables the bankers to fund wars of profit and control. Gold and silver hold a leash on that and pretty much dictate that war will only happen when someone else attacks us first.
Woodward is no friend of the Liberty movement, he's no friend to sound monetary policy, he's no friend to fiscal restraint, and he's no friend to non-interventionism. His statements don't change that.
His blathering may be putting sand in Barry Soetoro's panties, but that doesn't make him "the enemy of my enemy and thus my friend."
Seriously, from seeing some of the other posts here on DP lately on this topic, one would think everyone here just went back to sleep and started paying 24/7 attention to whatever the boob tube tells them.
