Governor declares financial emergency in Detroit, calls it a "sad day"
March 1, 2013, 1:12 PM

Gov. Rick Snyder declared a financial emergency in Detroit on Friday, pushing the city closer to having a state-appointed emergency manager control its finances.

Snyder told The Associated Press that his decision on whether to appoint an emergency manager will come after the city's 10-day appeals process, but that Detroit will be "on the path" to having the state oversee its books if he turns down any such appeal. Mayor Dave Bing's office already has been notified of a March 12 hearing date, Snyder said.

Snyder called it a "sad day" but also a day of "optimism and promise because it's time to start moving forward and solving these problems." The governor also said he already has a candidate in mind for the position, but declined Friday to release details.

Detroit will be a place to watch carefully, as

a lot of new things / ideas will be tried there.

What would the Founders do?

Yup, like honing the joystick skills of drone pilots,...

testing new weapons, and nanotechnology. They may even wall the place off and start a new reality show called "Escape from Detroit." Think of the possibilities; anything that will generate some income to pay their bills to the bankers will be considered.

Research the 48207 and 48214 areas of Detroit. These are close to the riverfront and are prime targets for the Hantz Group.

My uncle lost his canal home to eminent domain

so they could build bigger & better homes/condos. He fought as long as he could. Now I see homes on that street are selling for what you'd expect to pay for one month's rent elsewhere.
