What's Up w/ Movies These Days?

Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln, Argo, and I think there is another of these type of movies on the way (forgot the name).

Then there's the movie Side Effects in which psychiatric drugs (and I'm giving the twist in the movie away) were NOT the cause of the murder that happens in the film.

And let's not forget Michelle Obama presenting Best Picture at the Oscars.

Hollywood is government propaganda central these days. Maybe it's always been like this - who knows. It definitely feels more extreme than usual though.

It always has been

A slave to the government and an advocacy center for cultural degeneration. Socialists who live a half hour away from poverty advocate the government taking care of the poor and do not lift a finger to help or use their money to help poor people.

What about?

Have you seen the trailer for "The East"?
Tell me that's not targeted?

On the other hand, "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" shows promise.

Don't forget....

the wildly successful off-Broadway play "Sandy Hook"

Lincoln

Did anyone else who has seen the movie have the same reaction to this visual that I did?

At the very beginning of the movie there was a battle scene where a soldier has his face planted in the mud and drowned. Very gruesome.

Well, I cannot get it out of my head that this was symbolically representative of the heavy boot of the federal government snuffing life from one of its own native born Sons; and serving perhaps as a warning to the future as well as an historical lesson.

Paranoid? Maybe - Hope so....

Movies.... TV Prime Time shows....

are in the same venue. Terrorist behind everything criminal now it seems, in so many of the crime shows in Prime Time. I've stopped watching them. Even sitcoms make light of terrorist activity. It's total programming of the masses. No longer subtly, but rather aggresively, & totally exposed. Brainwashing many into believing the so called terrorist is the enemy and the reason to depend on the government to protect them. Hopefully more & more people start wakeing up to the stark reality that they're being duped.

Hollywood has an Agenda.

Hollywood has an Agenda.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

Same as it ever was

Hollywood has always been government propaganda central. I watched a movie once (on Mystery Science Theater 3000, actually) that was mostly footage provided by the US Air Force. The plot, if you could call it that, was about a young man wanting to fly fighters, but his dad had been a large bomber pilot and did not approve. Even Tom Servo and Crow had a hard time making that one interesting.

Did you notice the Obama money?

What do you mean "Obama money"

Money with his picture on it? In the movie?

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

Yeah, I googled it real

Yeah, I googled it real quick, turns out there's a 'quick look' in the movie where you see 'bills' with his face on them. Seems the director thought, gleaming from what he said, "Hey, since we have bills now with past presidents on them, we might have current Presidents on them in the future".

United Federation of Britain?

LOL

Olympus has fallen

Yeah I'm seeing propaganda. Demonize the factions they wish to push against and this new movie seems to be to tell the nation that attacking the whitehouse is bad.. only terrorist would do that!

Gotta get that propaganda out before it happens for real! :)

Of course this isn't the first time a "president" has been kidnapped in the movies.

Yep that's the one

Gee, I wonder if our president will come off as the "good guy" in that movie.

It's Hollywood.

These are stories for entertainment purposes, not fact.

I was thinking about this and getting pissed off last night until I remembered that. Sadly, however, many people these days aren't able to differentiate reality from Hollywood.

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Exactly

And that's how revisionism works its way into people's minds. They don't remember the facts, they remember what happened in the movies.

Entertainment or Propaganda?

That's really what I'm wondering. It feels like there are more of these types of movies than normal.

There are.

Don't forget all of the tv shows too..

Cop Shows..

FBI crime shows..

Made for TV movies..

Military reality Shows..

Military channels even now..

What happend to Capra-type movies, you ask?

People in today's America say they question government but the usual questions and statements are as follows: What are you going to give me now? Please tell me what to think, and more importantly, how to think.

If you want to understand the difference between centralized banking and community banking watch 'It's a Wonderful Life'. If you want to understand corruption in government then watch 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'.

what amazed me this year

was that two propaganda films (zero, argo) went head to head for best picture.

That says an awful lot about the state of the empire

I think that's true for Argo,

I think that's true for Argo, but Zero Dark Thirty doesn't exactly portray the US in a good light.

torture porn

if you believe the whole story they were putting out that the cia were angry about torture being shown then you are very naive. just like 24 the message in zero was that torture gets results and it's justifiable.

The takeaway message that I

The takeaway message that I got from the movie was that a bunch of people (one in particular) became obsessed with hunting down Osama and when they finally did it, there was no victory.

The whole movie is quite skeptical of the idea that the hunt for Osama was worthwhile.

Oh Really?

I wasn't aware of that. Interesting.
