Unreal! High School Student Disarms Gunman, Gets Suspended - Video

"The student grappled the gun away from the 15-year-old suspect on the bus ride home Tuesday after witnesses say he aimed the weapon point blank at another student and threatened to shoot him.

The student, who Fox 4 has agreed not to identify because he fears for his safety, says there’s “no doubt” he saved a life by disarming the gunman. And for that he was suspended for three days."

I have sent a message...

I have sent a message to Principal Perkins at TracyAP@leeschools.net I hope you will write a respectful email also. Below is what I wrote.

Principal Perkins,
I am sad and hope I can help you to see the mistake that you have made. I am referring to the suspension of the brave young men that saved the life of the football player that almost lost his life to another student with a gun. It is hard for me to understand how anyone could see these brave young men as anything but heroes. They risked their lives to save another and for their heroic efforts they were punished , made to feel ashamed and made to believe that they had done something wrong.
In a world that seems upside down, the selfless act of putting their lives in danger for another should be acknowledged and revered. If they had been in the military they could have received a bronze star and a commendation. But instead you shame them and suspend them. What kind of a message does that send? If it were your child would you prefer that these brave young men would have saved and protected him/her or would you prefer they do nothing and let your child die? Put yourself in that position for just one minute and think about it and be honest with yourself.
Young people are very impressionable and an event like this can shape their future. Being declared a hero and getting their 15 minuets of fame could send them on the way to becoming someone special like policeman, a Green Beret or even a Navy Seal. They could in turn save and protect our children and grandchildren. Or they could punished and be taught that they should never help someone in need and even worse that it is wrong to help anyone in need. Is that what you want for them? I am sure that it is not what you would want for them.
Please think about how your actions can affect their beliefs and future. Put aside the rules and regulations that are in place and clearly do not address an extraordinary event like the one that has happened. You only get one chance to make a mistake like this or to correct it. Everybody makes mistakes and when we own up to them good people will forgive you and stand by you.
I hope I have given you something to think about and you will do the right thing for these brave young men.

Respectfully yours,
Richard N Stone

I have received a reply...

I have received a reply and obviously there is more to the story and we will probably never know the whole story. Below is the response from the Principal.

Mr Stone

I am sorry that you feel this way about me/my leadership abilities, especially having never met me. It is unfortunate, to say the least, that the media has incorrectly reported the facts surrounding this situation and have cast an unfair negative shadow on me (and my school.)

The miscommunication is further compounded since this situation deals with students' discipline and I am unable to set the record straight and clarify what actually happened. I can, however, emphatically tell you that there are other circumstances involved in this situation and that NO students were suspended/punished for helping disarm another student of a firearm.

My life's work is revolved around being an advocate for student success and I am passionate about it. Hopefully, you can see/understand that when it comes to media stories, there is usually more than meets the eye. We are asking for a retraction of the false information, but unfortunately that does not always happen. We will see what transpires.

Tempest in a Teapot

It sounds like the gun was pulled in self-defense, potentially. The school did not want the provoking student in school in case a gang war broke out.

A 3-day cooling off period (most likely based on previous experience with those involved), sounds like a good idea.

At any rate, why should we trust the media to get the whole story?

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

There is nothing this young

There is nothing this young man should be ashamed of.

There is an agenda

It's conditioning, pure and simple. They are trying to shape the children into feeling scared when it comes to anything related to guns by being extreme. That's why they will punish a child for even using their finger as a gun.

Learned helplessness

It is key to imposing tyranny.

I understand completely why...

I understand completely why the school did this. The liberals only believe that you are supposed to be a victim and you are not allowed to be independent and think for yourself. Protecting yourself is not a god given right but it is only the responsibility of the government. If you protect yourself or others you are anti government and a domestic terrorist. Then you end up on the no fly list after that there is a drone flying around with your name on it. This is how the liberals think and carry things to extremes. Did I miss anything?

Nothing these Liberals do makes any sense..

I think liberalism is a form of mental illness myself.

It used to be to save money

They'd put one-way glass in front of a holder for the camera and only put cameras on some busses. That way, the kids wouldn't know which buses had the cameras when. There's not so much of an excuse for that anymore since cameras are so cheap now.

Defend Liberty!

It's worked like that for

a long time in school. If you fight to protect someone, you're the one who gets whatever their consequences are. This is one of those extremes that highlights the stupidity of the status quo.

Defend Liberty!

How did things get turned so upside down?

This is just nuts.

the schools have gone insane!
