Petition To Change Name Of Treasury Dept To The Debtery DeptSubmitted by Chris Uski on Sun, 03/03/2013 - 02:34
Anglo-Saxon English is an amalgamation of various languages.
Debere - Latin - To owe - deh beh' reh
Treasury - Old French tresorie - Place where treasure is kept
Other possible names: Debtury, Debtuary, Debutante In Distress Department.
Was just thinking about how the U.S. went from being the world's #1 creditor nation to the world's #1 debtor nation, and how ironic it is that a 'treasury' department could be so much as a buck twenty-five, let alone $16 trillion, in debt. What do they keep in there, copies of IOUs? In the vault!?! I'd of burned them months ago!
So a petition to the white house petition page would be a great way to spread news of the ironic nature of this precarious predicament and what it portends. But how shall it be written?
Pray, peas of the pod, pontificate?
