Russia and China Are Funding Iran, Why?Submitted by zooamerica on Sun, 03/03/2013 - 18:16
Proliferation of defense industrial know-how and brain power from Russia, Ukraine and other former Soviet republics to Iran — specifically advanced anti-ship missiles, nuclear technology and ballistic-missile designs — has been at the top of U.S. government concerns since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.
A CIA report to Congress made public in 2009 states that assistance from Chinese and Russian entities “has helped Iran move toward self-sufficiency in the production of ballistic missiles.”
The rapid advance of Iran as a regional power was entirely due to Russian and Chinese assistance. But why? Why would they assist Iran with illegal technologies and weapons?
The Washington Times article attributes it to China’s dependence on Iran’s oil, and that’s certainly a consideration. But my opinion is still that China is using Iran to hamper US efforts to stabilize Iraq and the Middle East.
China and Russia (and their comrades in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization) have been trying to push the US out of Asia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East. It is a global assault on American influence, meant to weaken both our alliances and our access to energy resources and raw materials.
The ultimate goal is to isolate the United States and reduce us to a second-class world power, leaving the world stage open for a new unipolar world led by China.
