What Homeschoolers Are Missing Out On Lately

I ‘unschool’ my two kids. And I can’t lie, sometimes I wonder what they’re missing out on at public school. So I keep my eyes and ears peeled.

Here are just a few things that homeschoolers/unschoolers across the country — like my own kids — have missed out on recently...

But...but...but...

The socialization! How will kids make friends, or learn to act in public, or blah blah blah

So glad I was homeschooled K-12 and missed out on this kind of malarkey.

Love when I get the socialization comment...

My response is always something along the lines of:

"Really? You mean, the socialization that occurs during the 7 hours where they're essentially told to be quiet unless called upon? Or the 1 hour during which they eat and scurry between classes?"

Glad to hear you had the opportunity to homeschool. I didn't get that chance personally, and I wish I did. But that just makes me more appreciative of being able to homeschool (or unschool, as it were) my own kids, and I'm enjoying every moment of it.

So, too, are they.
