Coin Exports and a 'Domestic Dollar'?Submitted by JamesKistner on Mon, 03/04/2013 - 10:46
The constitution says: To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
Could this grant authority to make the Silver Eagle a 'domestic dollar'? There are already limits to the number of coins which can be exported. This prevented the penny, nickle, etc., from being exported for there melt value. I think it was something like 10,000 of each coin. Could the same be applied to forclose export of Eagles, and these would then be restricted to domestic exchanges only? A first step toward exchange validity within the 50 states?
