Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

This is getting a little creepy.

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

Just to clarify, having

Just to clarify, having worked maintenance and upgrades on MRAPs, they are NOT tanks by any stretch of the imagination....they are generally IED resistant personell carriers depending on which model of MRAP you are talking about.

scary in Colorado..

Colorado just railroaded 7 new gun control laws through despite bitter opposition. You cannot find ammo at any of the major stores. I never thought I would see the day you couldn't even find .22 shells. I hear they are being "scalped" for a $1.00 each.

Ammunition Depots

Maybe it's time someone started a website to map where it's all being stored.

Have to wonder how their could be any doubt in anyone's mind at this point? Yet so many are talking about next election etc. while these domestic enemies systematically put all the logistics in place to wage war on us the American people....

What do you people reckon 2700 of these cost?

What ...200K each?

I recall a new military hummer is about 160K a couple of years ago. I read it in the NYT.

don't forget to add for

don't forget to add for inflation and Corp Welfare, so prob 500k-1 million each

facebook and in-q-tel are creepy.
this shit is getting down right alarming.

2,700 equates to 54 per state!

How many of these units were sent to invade other countries?

2,700 is 5 APCs per Electoral Vote

that's not the role of

that's not the role of homeland security

I figure since it's the homeland

the DHS is "securing" these are all exclusively for us.

I've followed the trail of links from the one the OP posted and can't find an official government source for the info yet.

Has anyone else checked?

While the ammo could be

While the ammo could be passed off as for training and standard uses, this can not be. There is absolutely no other reason for them to buy armored vehicles other than they are preparing for something.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

DHS Logic

When the SHTF - bureaucrats at the DHS / NSS (National Security State) have decided that returning vets will be the most likely to put up serious resistance in the coming Civil War II.

Returning vets learned how to do ... what? In Middle East:

Set and configure IED's

Hence, mine resistant light tanks.

They were gipped.

They stopped using these in the Middle East, one IED killed the occupants.

That DHS would supply their thugs with death traps doesn't surprise me.

Free includes debt-free!

Well, yeah

There's that too.

When putting yourself in the shoes of bureaucrats, one is alternately appalled at their tyranny and lol'ing at their incompetence and bumbling while doing so.

Those are not armored cars, they are boots....

...to step on our necks with.

Localism is for people who can still sleep at night even though somebody they don't know in a city they have never been is doing things differently. ("Localism, A Philosophy of Government" on Amazon for Kindle or Barnes and Noble ebook websites)

If they can cause ammo shortages by design

they can do this with food as well. That's how they'll control us if people start rioting.

Big bump

Thanks for posting.

Are the tires on this tank bulletproof?

There is a reason for having 'full metal jacket' ammo. Hollow point has its uses, but FMJ has more penetrating power. These heavy tanks [Curb weight: 37,850 lbs. (18.9 tons)] have weaknesses to exploit, like their tires. Tire-shielded models are probably on order.

Run Flats

They have tires called Run Flats, similar to the tires of combat humvees . Defending ones self against these - in the case of illegal actions by the government - means staying away from roads. Such a mentality like this - as seen in many AOs in Iraq - means they want to reduce their own causalities by sacrificing maneuverability. In other words they just stick to the roads.

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

SteveMT's picture

Do Run Flats burn?

Throw some Molotov cocktails their way to slow them down and keep them on the roads to block more from coming. Just a thought. Thanks for that info.

They say "Police/Rescue" on the side of them.

Why would "Police/Rescue" need mine resistant armor protected military style vehicles?

when the collapse comes, they

when the collapse comes, they will need all this protection to keep safe from the mobs.
