#StandWithRand: Rand Paul Filibuster Update & Open Thread

Filibuster began at 11:47am ET March 6, 2013
Filibuster ended at 12:40am ET March 7, 2013

http://www.c-span.org/Live-Video/C-SPAN2/

He quoted Greenwald and even mentioned Luke Rudkowski's question to Gibbs about al-Awlaki's kid.

Now he's saying it's not partisan, and his proof is that he voted for Kerry and Hagel even though he has almost nothing in common with their politics.

This man is playing chess.

Edit to Add: I was inspired to add this quote by the Doctor "Speak up, speak often and don't worry about those that at this point can not understand as they can never un-hear what we tell them." ~ Ron Paul

TwilightZone alert: what do Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, Glenn Be..

TwilightZone alert: what do Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, Glenn Beck, Matt Drudge, Code Pink, John Cusack, and Cenk Uygur have in common?

THEY'RE OPPORTUNISTS - that's what. Never let a good PR opportunity pass you by.

Restore the Foundations - "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

well that too, but at least they're awake

enough to recognize that pro-liberty position is the upward trajectory.

As far as 'mainstream' GOP go, Sen. Lee is the only one I can see that even remotely comes close to Rand's position. Cruz is a bit to AIPAC-y for my taste.

Then again, even Rand, compared to his dad is only 20% in "Ron Paul-ness." Yup, that septuagenarian spoiled me... bad. Frankly don't expect ANYONE to live up to RP's principled consistency; he's once in a century kinda soul. I'm personally done with political process; as far as I'm concerned this Titanic is only headed in one direction.

That said, I personally saw the 1st inklings of a truly "Ron Paul Moment" on par with something that will get as close to a "Guiliani Moment" that Rand will have, tonight.

My Spidey sense went on alert: Rand definitely benefited from this long-format to really flesh out his philosophy. Hopefully, many more others felt the same, enough to 'wake up' and some among the R3VOL perhaps are rethinking Rand, despite his poorly timed Mutt WRONGney endorsement.

Something's definitely afoot though. I can feel it.

Predictions in due Time...

"Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it's realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy." - Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul

I bet Obama and Holder are

I bet Obama and Holder are piiiiiisssssed. XD

And things just got political.

Here comes the BS

"When I say liberty I do not simply mean what is referred to as 'free enterprise.' I mean liberty of the individual to think his own thoughts and live his own life as he desires to think and to live..." - Robert A. Taft

Redrawing political lines.

It's so awesome that Rand just framed the debate and named the Rep position (at least in the Senate). This could redraw the party lines, pushing the Republican party in our direction...Let's hope there are many more to come.

+1

Well put. He really did force a new party platform, and he did it while his senior senators were chilling with their bossman.

He has got to be wearing

He has got to be wearing something because you simply cant keep holding it in. Or perhaps he doesnt mind needing clean pants later on.

List your most Glued to day or night on the DP!!!!
That was one of mine.

hate to say it, but

We need these fake bandwagon 'publicans to give Rand a good break or two. It might make us cringe listening to them, but we need them.

It's soooo blatantly apparent that they're there because of the media attention.

FYI Repub Senators invited to dinner w/Obama tonight are...

"Several Senate Republicans, in fact, are at the White House having dinner tonight (to discuss the sequester; presumably their meals were not affected). Invited were: John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Kelly Ayotte, Pat Toomey, Bob Corker, Ron Johnson, Saxby Chambliss, Tom Coburn, John Hoeven, Dan Coats, Richard Burr and Mike Johanns. Toomey and Chambliss asked Paul questions during the filibuster so maybe they’ll pass a message along."

'Choose your battles well' has taken on new meaning now.

Rand has chosen exactly the right battle to make his stand for Liberty. The stage was set perfectly by the letters that went unanswered. He must have known that this administration would blow them off. Rand set this up beautifully.

Minion clowns on a dinner date

It's a good thing the worst RINO senators are with the president, since they would likely oppose the filibuster and have tried to stop the commotion early. Do you seriously think J. McCain would oppose expanding drone warfare, even on Americans? Never.

all the senators are getting

all the senators are getting in on the action..

i love this filibuster :-)

lawrence

Where are the Rand bashers now?

Hmmm??

The bandwagon is starting to get a little crowded

I don't care. The more others speak ...the more rest Paul gets!

The only ones anyone will remember is Rand Paul and maybe also Cruze

how long can the filibuster

how long can the filibuster go on ??

lawrence

I believe the record held so far...

...is 26 hours.

As long as Rand refuses to yield the floor

If he could grab naps while being asked questions it could go on and on and on...
