TheYoungTurks: Drone Strikes - Is Rand Paul a Constitutional Hero?

http://youtu.be/qoWy7wnucXY

"Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) announced on the Senate floor Wednesday he intended to filibuster the nomination of John Brennan as director of the CIA, citing concerns about President Barack Obama's policy on civil liberties.

"I will speak until I can no longer speak," Paul said."*

As much as we may agree with the bulk of Rand Paul's stances, he may deserve to be called a hero for standing up against John Brennan's nomination to CIA director based on his and Obama's stance that Americans could be able to be killed by drones on American soil. Cenk Uygur makes the case.

Qualifying

in that way may actually be a positive thing. I do know a few people who seem to not think things through. If they (these people) disagree with someone on just one point, they dismiss anything that person says. Perhaps Cenk and others who make qualifying statements are 'helping' certain others see that one doesn't have to agree with everything another says/thinks/feels...

Freedom brings people together, perhaps? Where have I heard that before?

I also feel the need to qualify

merely because people "think" in such a collectivist, reactionary, presumptive way.

So in order to fight

So in order to fight collectivism, you become one?

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

I do what I want

and what I want to do is differentiate, whether it bothers you or not.

Acknowledging the probability of a public statement being subjected to the criticism of people whose logic is flawed is not collectivizing, because there is no judgement cast, just a general sense of how conversations will unfold, and a desire to save time explaining my point.

No, it's not a good thing.

No, it's not a good thing. They don't do it with everyone, and they don;t agree with everyone on everything. They only do it with "controversial" people or people of the opposite political spectrum in an attempt to calm their followers down.

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

Of course,

you are free to feel otherwise; I certainly stand by my assertions.

I did not mean that Cenk's motives are pure; more than likely, you are correct as to his (and other's) motivations. (However, I may be wrong--I cannot read his mind.)

What I meant is that sometimes there are unintended consequences--a few hearts and minds may have been changed/can be changed--those who normally will not listen unless they agree with everything someone else says...are hearing that it's okay to agree with someone on certain issues, while simultaneously not agreeing with the same person on other issues.

They are learning to not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Even one of my daughter's clueless, Hillary-loving, "doesn't want to hear anything about Republicans" friends is impressed with Rand...

I give that 10 happy faces.

The Next time We Post a Skank Peuker video

Please provide a VOMIT BAG link below the youtube link!

Why people link this MAGGOT on the DP I just don't get>

He is as much a fraud and opportunist as Scamity and O'Fraudly.

You don't get it?

Perhaps I can help. As Ron Paul frequently did, you build coalitions wherever you can. When people are awake to the truth, even if only on one issue, you celebrate it. You promote it. You don't degrade them because they disagree on other issues. That's how I see it.

I hear ya

but skank is a leftist from almost every angle. Giving him credit for opportunization is about all I can do.

may I humbly ask..

that this be on the front page?

:)

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

HELL NO!

Put in on the front page of the DAILYFRAUD.com not here.

Oh, cmon.

He did good.

He has been disastrous up until now. But that was STELLAR!! He got the whole world talking 'bout killer drones.

He's the man, today!

As much as I disagree with Rand on SO MANY ISSUES...

really? Like what Cenk? As far as I know other than the vote for Iran sanctions Rand is pretty much a constitutionalist. From your statements in this vid you say you support the constitution right? So exactly what issues do you disagree on????

Inquiring minds wanna know...

My guess... is that you only said that so you don't turn off your team Democrat viewers/listeners.

He get paid the big bucks to tow that line.

So he has slip in the disclaimer. When I researched him, I found that he is pretty much a libertarian-lite. He is just a lil' media whore.

I do not like that Rand

voted for Iran sanctions. Unless there is something he knows about Iran that we do not know?

Me, either.

He's not someone I trust 100%...the way I trust his father.

He voted for the $650 billion appropriations NDAA bill as well. He is pretty much a neocon-lite.

But when he does good, I still love him.

scawarren's picture

"a neocon-lite"... I

"a neocon-lite"... I disagree.

It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled. – Mark Twain

What would you call him?

His views and votes on foreign policy are a disaster. But he does good on civil liberties. Maybe a Blue Dog?
