(Satire) Paul Krugman Files for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

EDIT: I've been had. Thanks to.... I forgot to check who posted it, but look in the replies. I knew it was too good to be true, but SOOOOO wanted it...

"According to this report in Austria's Format online mag, Krugman owes $7.35 million while assets to his name came in at a very meager $33,000."

Guess he should have bought gold...?

Thanks to the mods who allowed my correction to appear. Yes, I got up too early and got too excited about this, should have confirmed it. Kudos to those who called me on it, and now I hope the rest of us can still chuckle at this.

Thanks Fishy

I found the information on a financial site yesterday and promptly sent it to an email list.

This post is the first information I've seen that it wasn't true. Like you, I detest the way Krugman distorts economic theory so much, that I didn't fact check a thing but thought bankruptcy was an obvious conclusion to Krugman's way of thinking.

I'm glad you posted the retraction here and it was left up so people could clear things up.

I just finished sending an apology to my email list.

This link still works

btw could tell instantly it wasn't real by the headline. P. Krugman would simply never admit to being bankrupt. Deny deny deny.

Pandacentricism will be our downfall.

That's exactly what'd he do

then he would say that the Federal Reserve needs to stop printing money so his savings don't lose purchase power.

Ahh just listen to that little snake. He sounds like he's plotting the end of the world with his weasel voice.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Bah my dreams were crushed!

But still:

Krugman is part of the problem.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Please change title

Noneed to get us excited for nothing. Funny though

It looks like a hoax.

I cannot find anything else about this story, except this.

would have been good if true.

This isn't true...

...I wish it was but it isn't. Here's the original article from a German-language satire site that I've translated via Google Translate:

Cuimhnigh orm, a Dhia, le haghaidh maith.

The irony here is nothing less than sublime.

Love this news. Hypocrisy comes to mind with these people.

Question: this is for real, isn't it?

The Humble Shall Be EXALTED

And his mercy is from generation unto generations,
to them that fear him.
He hath shewed might in his arm:
he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He hath put down the mighty from their seat,
and hath exalted the humble.
He hath filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich he hath sent empty away.

As much as I wanted this to be

As much as I wanted this to be true it isn't, which is just another reason why i ENCOURAGE you guys to substantiate the posts BEFORE posting them.. And reading the comments I can tell no one bothers to fact check.

This was a joke reported by dailycurrant, which is a SATIRICAL website.

REMOVE this thread.

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

Freaking hilarious...

I hope it's true as well. You would think the guy should be raking it in for television appearances. That is what has me doubting.

Oh god I hope this is true.

Oh god I hope this is true. My economics professor is a Krugman worshiper that I argue with often and I'd love to ask how it is that Krugman can't even run his own finances, yet he thinks he can tell you how to run a countries.

Big Bump

This story has put a big, fat smile on my face this morning. I do not usually wish bad things on people, but in this case, EAT IT Krugman!
