AWOL: Meet The GOP Senators Who Refused to Stand With Rand

by Larry O'Connor

It's time to name names.

Yesterday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) embarked upon a historic filibuster in an attempt to coax the White House to answer a basic and fundamental constitutional question that affects every American's 5th Amendment rights. He was joined by thirteen other Republican Senators as well as one Democrat.

While the stand for liberty and government accountability was taking place on Capitol Hill, a handful of Republican Senators were having an off-the-record dinner with President Barack Obama. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) notebaly attended the dinner wiht the President and then made their way to the Senate Chambers and participated in the filibuster.

Republican members of the House of Representatives walked down the hall to support Sen. Paul. Rep. Louie Gohmert even brought the weary senator some chocolate bars and cough drops.

But what about the Republican senators who had something better to do Wednesday night?

My other Kansas

state senator, Pat Roberts of Kansas was not there for the filibuster. I posted on his FB a couple hours into the filibuster asking why he wasn't there in support of Rand and our other senator Jerry Moran. Today Roberts has a post up saying that he supports Rand and the other senators present 100%, guess that's better than McCain but not good enough.

The bold effort the present bank had made to control the government ... are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it-Andrew Jackson

THIS is most excellent journalism.

Two thumbs up to Larry O'Cconnor for this fine piece of work.

AWOL Republicans, what a surprise

In my opinion, they threw the election because they knew they couldn't get away with a Republican president pushing Obama's agenda, which is what they want, i.e., a carbon tax, agenda 21, U.S. subjugation to the U.N., etc.

But there's still hope, check out this post, "Rand Paul: One person can make a difference"

Firstly, I own property in

Firstly, I own property in Oklahoma and lived there for more than a decade. Okies are terrific people. I'm confident that the genuinely patriotic voters of Oklahoma will do the right thing and replace both of their current senators. The same applies to the great state of Alabama. If politicians start out with good intentions (really aren't enough as shown by history), time always corrupts those politicians without a solid constitutional footing.

It's definitely past time to name names. Continue to clean the federal House and Senate. These junior senators are definitely impacting public sentiment while inspiring patriotic Americans in the process.

Dan Coats....

Sweet Jesus my state has to get rid of him. That man is a joke. He gets on this morning in support of Rand, but has dinner and doesn't go to support him on the senate floor yesterday.

Not to mention he's called for balanced budgets but votes to raise spending nearly every time it comes around. Seriously, just Youtube "Dan Coats" and look how many speeches there and and then check his record LOL

I don't think he even knows what he stands for or wants

Ron Johnson admitted it

Pat Toomey spoke before Ron Johnson.. they were both "grandstanding", and Johnson admitted it.. made excuses for his participation.. Rnad Ended it after Dick Durbin climbed all over his butt.. but Rand won.. that's for sure.

I was angry that they did not help

out.

How long have you been in Idaho politics?

I've been toe to toe with both those morons, - Labrador, too. Not a one of them is worth a damn. Labrador did the RP folks a solid at the Ada County organizational meeting in 2008, and he has been resting on those laurels ever since. The RP people still treat him like he is a great guy, it is classic "battered wife syndrome."
That "great guy" out of Boise County is also a back-stabbing, power seeking sell out. If you are in Ada County, you need to keep an eye on all your "allies." There are plants there, and I don't mean petunias.
