Rand's Crime - Stopping the New Civil War
I started to write an article entitled “The Civil War Has Begun,” but then Rand found his moment and his voice on the Senate floor, and delivered a devastating blow to those who wish to fan the flames of partisan hatred into violence, in order to advance the Police State. Once violence begins it can be merrily suppressed with bipartisan drones and draconian restrictions on guns, civil discourse and all dissent whether from left or right.
Rand suddenly gave the civil libertarians of the left and the consistent libertarians who are increasingly haunting the neocon right, common ground on which to make their stand together. This is the coalition they have always feared: authoritarian vs. libertarian. It terrifies the old fascists and warmongering dinosaurs who see their plans demolished with only 13 hours of common sense. Well done, Rand. But truth be known, this better be “only the beginning.” Perhaps it will come to be properly described as the beginning of the end... of statism.

for our reading erudition - thank you for compiling
this is great! i bookmarked it.
as i was listening to rand on wed. i was thinking and noting how much
documentation he was including in his discourse, and how well read he is.
and he did it conversationally, not in a monotone.
thank , gee_blee, for compiling this list!
read and understand!
BMAC
A weekend?
Someone has a very liberal concept of weekends! :D
That reading list, which looks very fun, will take me months! That is assuming that nothing new distracts me. I've a weakness for shiny new books.
Thanks for compiling this list. We'd all do well to read original source material after anyone quotes it, especially if it will be instructive toward our philosophical ends.
AhhhPfftgrruffbgneDafrak Weekend?!
Implied as 1 weekend, lol. Awesome list. That is amazing all the references he made. My jaw hit the floor...wow.
Isaiah 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
thank you for the list!
Thanks to Rand for citing all that, of course, but your listing it makes it so much more apparent the intellectual strength of the man!
This has been a major triumph for the liberty movement. We've got a way to go, of course, but the more we bring reason and cited authority to the debate the more the DemoRepublican toadies have to slither and skither.
Now if we could only get discussion of the Tenth Amendment into our public schools and make it a requirement of all school teachers that they both UNDERSTAND the tenth and TEACH the fact that we are supposed to be a republic and not a "democracy"...that a solid case (to vastly understate the reality) can be made that almost everything our Federal government does is simply illegal.
Bill of Rights /Amendment X: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
Do you need a politician or judge to "interpret" those 28
Bravo! Bravo!

While I very much appreciate your efforts, your title...
It might take me 2 weekends to read those... lol!

Great Job gee_blee I will be saving this for future use.
This is exactly why it is so hard to explain everything we talk about as RP supporters. Every sentence and word has another meaning making it very difficult to sum up everything in one paragraph without confusing or befuddling and thinking we are all crazy and someone is always out to get us.
Great Job gee_blee I will be saving this for future use.
On Another Note,
Who thinks its weird that the show 'Homeland' mysteriously revolves around this whole idea of drone strikes and "blow black" that it might cause compared to the power being handed to the president to kill an American without due process; If you watched the show of course.

Great list and because...
property owners are forced to pay for public education, we should demand that many of these books be required reading in schools. Talk to your local school board. For more reading, check out this short post, "Rand Paul: One person can make a difference"

Nice job!
Thats a lot
of truth bombs disguised as literary works, I hope some unsuspecting neo-cons picked them up and got their minds blown!
The bold effort the present bank had made to control the government ... are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it-Andrew Jackson
compare and contrast
Ron Paul would have mentioned:
Ludwig Von Mises
Murray Rothbard
Walter Block
Lew Rockwell
Fredrick Bastiat
Gustave de Molinari (maybe :)
Hey, how about Lysander Spooner's more famous work:
No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority
“With laws shall our land be built up, but with lawlessness laid waste.”
-Njal Thorgeirsson
ok, great
Now Mises and Rothbard are getting downvoted.
“With laws shall our land be built up, but with lawlessness laid waste.”
-Njal Thorgeirsson
It's not that
Mises and Rothbard aren't the ones getting downvoted. What is getting downvoted is that Rand Paul quotes Lysander Spooner, Hayek and Greenwald, and all anyone can do is pick apart who he DIDN'T quote.
For some folks, it's never good enough. Not to mention giving up your ability to pee for 13 hours. People on here probably do that every day.
Pathetic, ain't it?
People would much rather live in la-la land than accept that Rand is more of a half-hearted libertarian than a minarchist or Rothbardian AnCap.
Not to mention the fact that Rand hasn't touched the Truth movement with a 60-foot pole. I can understand Ron backing away from his position on 9/11 in the home stretch of the campaign, but Rand has gone from being willing to talk about Bilderberg to threatening the arrest of journalists who even approach him about the subject. Some defender of the Bill of Rights he is.

I think you're being down voted because your post
looks like your "raining on the parade" so to speak. You may not have meant it in that fashion, but I can certainly see how it could come off like that to some people. In other words, let Rand have his moment.
BTW - I wasn't one of the people that down voted you.

And I laugh my @ss off every time someone says that Ron Paul didn't accomplish anything in office.
Thank you gee_blee. Folks like you are the reason liberty will prevail.
I've bookmarked this and I will read every last one.
How about some honorable mentions?
An earlier comment referenced "Atlas Shrugged". I'd like to add "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington".
