Ron Paul @ Manning Networking Conference , Ottawa, Ontario CanadaSubmitted by zacattack on Fri, 03/08/2013 - 18:25
First let me say this was AMAZING. I'm a dual citizen living in Canada, and was kicking myself for not making the drive down somewhere close and seeing a Ron Paul speech during the primaries. Then this opportunity came up and it was a no brainer, despite the hefty price tag - $100 for students (I recently graduated, so I got in on this), and $400 for normal attendees.
The Manning Networking Conference (www.mnc2013.ca) is a Canadian Conservative Conference, it happens every year and I never go. I usually have no interest in chattering with so called Canadian conservatives who run up deficits and expand the welfare state, all while crying foul when the Liberal Party does the same. The 2013 edition of the MNC would be my first, and as a libertarian, I was only interested in seeing RP's speech today, and Nigel Farage tomorrow.
After rubbing elbows with other libertarians from my university on Thursday night and eating my fair share of the food, I went home and got a full nights sleep, set two alarms and was up the next morning bright and early.
I cannot remember being this excited, nervous or anxious in a long time. I drove down, found parking and indulged heavily in the buffet breakfast that was included in my ticket, and met some new people.
I was pretty surprised to find that quite a few other people had the same level of excitement as me, and were totally stoked to see that he was going to be talking.
Got a seat front row dead centre and Dr. Paul came out to thunderous applause (and Star Wars theme music for some reason). He gave an awesome speech, received generous applause before having a brief sit down dialogue with Preston Manning, a well known Canadian Conservative politician, and scurrying off.
Afterwards myself and about 30 students waited outside the special VIP room where he was speaking with other guests hoping to get a picture with the man himself. After about 40 minutes, he came out, took pictures and signed books, bills, and t shirts before heading out to chants of "End the fed!" and "2016!!".

**I spoke to people at this conference who flew in from the West Coast JUST TO SEE RON PAUL. I met multiple people who drove 5-8 hours, paying $400 a ticket, plus lodging expenses, just to see this day of the conference and his speech specifically, and who, like me, have no interest in fake Canadian Conservatives.
Hope this shows you guys how much Dr. Paul is loved abroad!
EDIT -> Here are my videos from the event if anyone is interested
