This Quiz on 9/11 was Given to 5th Grade Children

A friend of mine was tagged in this post on Facebook. It is apparently a test given to a 5th grader at the school district I went to years ago near Corpus Christi, Texas.

I'm not sure what's more disturbing...the quiz or the parent's comments.

Here's the parent's comments:

So, when did it become okay to teach our children that the United States is to blame for the September 11th terrorist attacks? This test was given to my son and other 5th grade students at the Flour Bluff Intermediate School after they watched a video titled "Remembering September 11th". I was shown this video Tuesday and was shocked by it's content. This appalling video blames our country for the the murders of over 3,000 people.Today I met with members of the administration and asked that this video be pulled to which I was told that they would "review" it. The most unsettling part of the meeting was when one of the Flour Bluff school administrators informed me that she didn't see any problem with the video because she also believes that our "bad decisions" resulted in our country being attacked. Folks, we have a serious problem. This is nothing more than good old-fashioned propaganda and there are people at our kid's school who think this is perfectly fine. Well, I don't and if you don't either please take action. Parents, it's up to us to protect and defend our children. If we don't stand up for our children, who will? Please message me if you would like to help take back our schools -- together we can do this.

Here's a link to the original post on FB.

What are your thoughts on the quiz and on the parent's comments? I posed this question to the OP, "So, what is the correct answer to question #3 and #5 Kara?"

take action

Probably the best way to ensure your child believes the same way you do is to teach him yourself.

The parent's cover photo on Facebook says it all:

Not a lunatic or a heretic. Just a Paulitic.

Kudos to this school and the teacher!

Before the dust in NYC had hardly settled, Libertarian Harry Browne had pointed out that 9/11, the official story, could only rationally be explained within the context of blowback to bad American policy decisions. The 9/11 Commission concurred in its official report, as did several other independent and government investigations. Madam, it may offend you, but bad decisions made by a government that the American people have irresponsibly managed were indeed key, in any version of the story, to the occurrence of 9/11. Buck it up, face the music, educate yourself, and get active in doing your part to manage our government responsibly. And stop whining, we have a hard enough time maintaining respect as it is.

Wow! Great argument against home schooling!

LMAO That parent is a whole lot dumber than a 5th grader!

NO, not per se, Chances are Very Good that this Mom,

was also Public Schooled. It may be an argument for her not homeschooling, but it sure wouldn't apply to most homeschoolers.

LOL It was a joke!

Imagine an argument against home schooling on DP!!!!

Personally, I feel if a parent can't afford good private schools for their children, by all means and by any means: HOME SCHOOL!

Unless, of course the parent is an idiot; in which case, find somebody with a brain to teach your kids at home.

My sense of humor left for a moment

Actually it was funny, The cynical side of me just took over. Guess I've run in to one too many real statists, apologize for the 'bad' interpretation.

No comment until I see the

No comment until I see the video which the questions were based on. Highly sensitive and controversial topic for a 5th grade classroom.

Re 911/5th Graders: thank you, shuleba

Personally, I feel that these questions are inappropriate for 5th Grade - period, the end. Public school teachers pride themselves on so-called "developmentally appropriate" curriculum, when they don't have a clue as to what that even means. As to political proselytizing, it does not belong in schools at any grade level. When 911 is, in fact, such a sensitive and controversial subject, such questions as to "reasons why" it occurred belong in HIGH SCHOOL and, namely, essay questions to be supported with rationale - not multiple-choice questions with one correct answer. P.S. Just googled "Safari montage for remembering 911." Clearly, this video was designed for high school students, not 5th Graders. In this case, it's the school district at fault. Usually it's just poorly-trained teachers going on line and downloading (any) info and activities they find by "subject" - as if there were no difference in *how* a subject would be taught at different grade levels/developmental stages. Given today's so-called teacher training, if people can't afford a good private school for their children, homeschooling is the only answer.

LMAO! Love the test and the

LMAO! Love the test and the letter it was hilarious!

Where can I send this teacher a ty email :)

5 Stars to the teacher!!!! The parent is a dunce however.

Children need to learn about blowback and respect for others. I'd nominate this 5th grade teacher for Teacher of the Year.

They hate us?

I thought the terrorist loved us? We give them money in foreign aid and we buy their oil. Why would they hate us?

On a serious note though, we have not had any terrorist attack since 911. Whatever the governments been doing has worked just fine. The need for drones and other things doesn't make sense, unless they want to shoot American's later on during the rebellion that they know will come sooner or later.

The government makes there own enemies, perhaps they should realize that and do things that doesn't.

The meme is changing

to cause the masses to think the US is full of bad people...which translates into 'proving' the existance of domestic terrorists and legitimizing the need for drones, etc.

I thought 9/11 happened because they hate our freedoms?

#3 should have been told from the get-go...and Ron Paul should have NEVER been booed for saying it in 2008 and 2012.

The psychological games are amazing.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

maybe she was supposed to write in

they hate us because we are free and we are rich.

i pity that poor kids parents for being a frakking moron... drinking deeply of the gov/co kool-aid... and obviously thinking fox and msnbc are unbiased and accurate reporting of current events.

you should see the report my daughter turned in when she was asked to write a report about the election.... everyone in her class wrote about romney and obama.... but i bet you can guess who she wrote about...

Think for yourself......Question authority...

I sort of thought that question was awesome.

Great segue way into a discussion about foreign policy and "blow back." The rest of the questions were bogus, though. I am somewhat amused to find no question that teaches the kids to blame Osama bin Laden. Maybe an extra credit question....? "Who is the terrorist that the media blamed within hours of the attack and the US military executed (without arrest or trial) for crimes he was never officially accused of committing?"
Tie that one in with question #3, see what the kiddies make of that.
OK, kids, time to pledge allegiance. You can skip the part about "justice for all."

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

Actually propaganda would be saying that they attacked us b/c

they hate our freedom.

Agreed. Some Silverstein/Israel questions would be nice, too.

Btw, not to be a grammar snob, but you spelled "does" "dose" four times. ;-)

Purposely without reading any other comments...

The most unsettling part of the meeting was when one of the Flour Bluff school administrators informed me that she didn't see any problem with the video because she also believes that our "bad decisions" resulted in our country being attacked.

From where I'm sitting... this is American History. What's the problem?

Take a look at two public school districts:

Look at the long term debt outstanding at the end of the fiscal year and realize this figure isn't hundreds of thousands of dollars, it isn't millions of dollars, it's billions of dollars.

I challenge everyone on the Daily Paul to find out how much bond debt is being carried by their school district. Once we start adding it all up, well, let's just say I don't think it's going to be a pretty picture.

I wonder if the states and counties dissolved their school systems, who would owe all that money?

The wording could have been

The wording could have been done better, alleviating some of the ire of jingoist (though hard to do). Plus, it's a balancing act. If on #3 you word it "B. The attackers on 9/11 were motivated by what they view as an aggressive and interfering American foreign policy in the Islamic world, and the negative effects that foreign policy has had on Muslims." many 5th graders would have difficulty understanding the answer (I suppose). But it might blunt this parent's objections a bit... though seldom has it blunted the objections to Ron Paul.

On number 5, "D. None of the above" is the correct answer. It is far more advantageous to respect people as people, than to make some blanket appeal to respecting individual beliefs universally. I find it far more honest and sincere to respect a socialist or neo-con's humanity, than to ultimately disingenuously claim respect for their beliefs and subsequent political positions. Respect the human being and his humanity. For God's sake, do not expect men to show a respectful attitude to unwise, foolish and/or demonstrably false beliefs. Some beliefs destroy our humanity... like "A. Other people just don't like Americans." Why respect that?

BLAM! You just TOTALLY figured me out!

For God's sake, do not expect men to show a respectful attitude to unwise, foolish and/or demonstrably false beliefs.

"I don't mean that YOU are a "fkn idiot" I was talking about your BELIEFS... your BELIEFS SUCK... I think you'll make it... eventually... someday... I got faith in ya."

That's exactly what I do... all the time... some people's beliefs are UNINFORMED and just plain STUPID!!! So try not to take it personal!

It is a tightrope act, trying

It is a tightrope act, trying to be respectful sounding towards a person, while pointing out the absurdities of their beliefs. Ron Paul is pretty good at it, at least as far as I have seen.

He engages on an issue level most of the time, staying away (most of the time) from trying to assign ulterior motives to others. In fact, he will often acknowledge positive motivations in a philosophical enemy. He seems to focus on the inevitable results of a person's philosophy, and not accuse them of selfishness in holding any particular philosophy. I heard him in an interview say something like, "Hey, if I believed socialism could bring heaven on Earth, I'd be a socialist too." By such statements, he essentially says to a socialist opponent, "You may have good intentions, but your methodology is ineffective at best, and destructive at worst."

The bottom line is there is a way to approach others that is less likely to make them feel like they are being personally insulted, making your points more easily heard. But it is a tough road to walk consistently.

Glad To See

that kids are waking up to the BS. That parent is still asleep and won't wake up until it bites her in the ass. Good for the school for letting kids speak the truth. People that don't understand how it is are doomed to be sheep.

Have her watch this:

I'll take B for $500 Alex

IF, and it's a BIG IF, foreign "terrorists" actually carried out the attacks on 9/11, then what other answer could an honest individual with even half a working brain reasonably give to question #3?

What other answer is there?

9/11 was an inside job. Do people really still believe the government story? Amazing.

She deleted my question with no response...

So I posted this:

"Clearly the school district is wrong for this blatant propaganda, but the question I asked that was deleted was, "what are the correct answers to #3 and #5 in the opinion of the original poster and others?"

I'm not siding with the school district. I'm from Flour Bluff. I graduated in 1999. And I'm a very fiscally conservative and libertarian, so please don't think I'm defending the content of this quiz. I watched several hours of Rands filibuster. I was a Republican delegate to the Texas State Convention in 2008 and 2012. I was even a volunteer at the RNC in Tampa.

I merely want to understand what you feel the answers are to #3 and #5. Sorry if my comment is not well taken by the original poster."

Please don't be mean or make rude comments. I just read some other things on her page! Rands speech really did work!

"Thank you, Senator Rand Paul, for defending our civil liberties. I'm a bit shocked that more Republicans & Democrats haven't joined his 7 hour long filibuster. I thought for sure they would be against President Obama killing American citizens on American soil at will and without due process. These are scary times - God help us."

"I'm beginning to rethink my position on the Patriot Act as well."

"11 hours. This is pretty amazing."

I'm a serial entrepreneur and liberty activist from Texas!

Rand's fillabuster did work.

I signed up to volinteer at Tampa, but then when I was named a delegate I backed out. So it seems to me, the thing that might happen is a "Remembering 911" from the Liberty Movement that challanges the other "Remembering 911".. There's plenty of vids to show, eh? and you've already got one proposal for a new test on this thread.. We are winning, and I wonder, for all the talking that goes on here, there is very little being produced to replace what's being pushed, such as the perspective on this test.. Wou;ldn't it be fun to pass out modified tests at a GOP float in a parade?

If you haven't reached this point yet...

"I'm beginning to rethink my position on the Patriot Act as well."

Well son... it's just because you ain't all growed up yet...
