People PLEASE! NO 3rd Party run...here's why
Submitted by ecorob on Sun, 01/20/2008 - 13:11
Dr. Paul said No, for one reason. Why did he say no? Because he knows that a 3rd Party Candidate of his following will only ENSURE that Hillary will enter the White House in 2008.
Our only REAL option is to work our butts off now, inform the voters, and WIN a brokered Republican nomination. If we don't you will all once again be saying hello to President Clinton!
Let's work with what we've got right now. Let's don't waste any time talking about things that will be harder to achieve than what we are working for right now. Thanks, and good luck!

The threat of 3-4th Party Run is a Good thing!
Republicans can Vote For RP as a Republican or against him 3-4th party and they know what that means...........Bye bye repubs...
But Now is about This Race.......that can come later...
By the way a 4 way race would only take about 25 million votes to win...
Clinton only got just over 30% in 92 and won???
This race is wide open and is The Witch wins Bloomberg is in.......
we got a long way to go........keep the faith......
4th party?
What if Bloomberg runs? Would a 4th party run by the good Doctor be out of the question?
Sqrew it
The republican party sucks! maybe hillary getting in office is what the republicrats need.
calm down
Think about what you just said... I'll be posting the same comment to all Obama/McCain/Romney statements
People, people, people
Just sit back at relax, continue to support the good Dr. I say wait untill "Super Duper Tuesday" before any talk of third party. We can't let our emotions controll our actions, leave that for the "Progressives" to do. Stop thinking about if Dr Paul will run third party and continue to work to get him nominated, I've donated 500 fiat dollars so far and I'm planning to max out. Put up signs, talk to people and donate if you really want to see this through. We can do it and we WILL do it!
The spectre of Hillary is a canard
Since 2001 we have witnessed the largest expansion of government in history. Budget increased by 50%, National Debt by 60%, Unfunded Liabilities by 147% from $20 Trillion to $50.5 Trillion and we now have a trade deficit of $800 Billion. This was done by a Republican president and a Republican congress. The $8 Trillion debacle that was the Prescription Drug Benefit for seniors is socialized medicine.
Neither Hillary nor Bill could have gotten this done in their wildest dreams but our current crop of Republicans were given a blank check while everyone was scared out of their wits.
I don't see one iota of difference in the so called front runners for the GOP and Hillary. Not one. I will support Dr. Paul as a Republican a Libertarian or whatever he decides to call himself.
It is the message not the party
After Feb 5th
I think after Feb 5th, we will have a better idea of where to go with this.
If, in fact, there is a One World Government movement, and -- if, in fact -- the Constitution hangs by a thread -- we cannot afford another Bush/Cheney clone -- which Rudy, Hillary, Obama and MCain are -- all are CFR.
The way they are now talking about "regulating" the internet -- the next four years -- under a CFR president -- we will have lost our freedom of speech through the internet.
We need to fid someone if Ron will not run 4th party (Mike Blooberg will run third party or Lou Dobbs). (Lou is a dringing buddy of Huck's campaign manager -- so that tells you enough there.)
Hope Ron runs fourth party. He cannot give up on us after we have given to him over 25 million. He does need to restructure his campaign and bring in leadership that knows how to win.
This thread is not helping
It is not getting new RP supporters nor is it raising money for OUR cause
disagree ...
If the supporters think that he will go on they will be more likely to donate.
The problem is that they see Huck taking in votes with no money or organization and we wonder why Ron is not catching on with republicans like that. The 3rd party threat is just what the Republicans need to wake them up to the fact that Ron is the only one who can win in a general election because he will also get the support of third parties.
Like I said I want Ron to win or go back to Congress and lead from his house seat not fizzel out in some third party bid. But I can not agree that the talk about it is negative to the effort or that it is taking anything away.
If the deal is that his goose is cooked after super Tuesday then why bother but if there is a chance he will still run I think people will continue the push.
hillary would win either way
The Hillary excuse for not running 3rd party is not sound. The numbers are wildly in her favor if any of the other GOP clowns runs against her. 3rd party is potentially the only way for her NOT to win.
Plan A: Brokered Convention....Plan B: True Republican Party
The first word sez it all...
Heck, If the poseur neo-cons can unite in Louisiana under the so-called "Pro-Life/Pro-Family" crap...RP is the REAL REPUBLICAN!
"In circuit motorsport, a driver has..."Paul position" when he or she starts a race at the front of the grid."
NeoCons know they need us
However I truly think they are willing to go for Hillary for four years before the would back Paul.
NeoCons at one point did come from the liberal democrat party.

But hopefully the Neocons would move to Hillary if she wins
They might all go home to where they belong if Hillary wins. Then, as they support her Middle East policy of spreading radical feminism among Muslim women with the help of the US military, the American conservatives will suddenly stop being war hawks and act like they did in the 1990s when Clinton was nation building in the Balkans.
Stop Dreaming
Folks, there is NO chance for a third party run. Not only is it impossible to get on all the ballots in all the states, some state have rules disallowing candidates that have run on one party ticket to run again on another. Friends, all of you should watch the Ralph Nader Movie "An Unreasonable Man". You will clearly see that the system is totally rigged in favor of the Dems and Republicans. Ron Paul will never get into any debate or get any national exposure. He (or any other third party candidate) will be relegated to get less that 10% of the vote in a general election.
People will get the same "horse race" mentality. I can all ready hear them say....he can't win, it's a wasted vote. Some of you really got to get your heads screwed on straight on this 3rd party issue. It would be great if all things were fair, but they are not. I really wish you all would get off this subject.
Any of you that have followed this campaign and the truth that it reveals, realize that America and the World is over as we know it. The ponzi scheme that is our credit economy will eventually collapse. Wars and rumors of wars will continue until something unimaginable and catastrophic happens.
Those of us that know the truth in our heads, hearts and guts, will continue to get the message out. Dr. Paul is our horse at the moment. We are going to ride him as long as he continues to spread the message. I have a firm feeling that he believes in our cause even more than many here do.
I pledge that I am not a "fair weather friend" to this struggle and this campaign. I will donate, I will speak, I will write, I will march and I will fight the good fight, and if we lose this small battle... I will proudly write in the name of Dr. Ron Paul on my ballot and show my distain for the status quos. The criminals, war mongerers, profiteers and power abusers.
This in not just an election, this is a fight for our future survival. Who amongst you will give up on that?
unreasonableman
Dreaming on... regardless of what you say.
I haven't had time to research all your claims, but you might be right. However, I might point out that this is exactly the attitude under the umbrella of which our system WILL NEVER change. We have momentum, we have people paying attention, and it's not going to stop. If we continue down the same economic path (which will happen whether dem or rep is elected), it's just going to get worse. The worse it gets, the more people will be willing to re-think their once staunchly held views. I'm not solely interested in only this one election. I want to see this message spread. The fights that need to be had are good fights, and there is no need to think for the benefit of society they all need to be won in the next year (I agree, that would be impossible). Lastly, given that none of the other candidates are any good, why not run third party? Who cares who we "pull votes away from" (which weren't theirs in the first place)? Even if RP couldn't get on the ballot in all states, a decent showing in any state is only going to support the idea of rethinking the system.
Let's not get too carried away with "getting heads screwed on straight". This is a place for ideas, not insults.
Whether Clinton gets
Whether Clinton gets elected, or Romney, or Obama, or McCain, it doesn't make any difference. I agree that Clinton is the most obnoxious of the group, but they all work for the same people.
It's like trying to decide between Hitler and Stalin. Either one of them have no problem killing you. So, where is the difference? All of the other candidates will preside over the continued destruction of this nation and our freedoms. They can all be counted on to continue the undeclared wars around the globe for the benefit of special interests. They will all continue to undermine our rights.
If Ron Paul doesn't get the Republican nomination, and doesn't run third party, I will either write him in, or support the Constitution Party candidate. I WILL NOT SUPPORT ANY OF THE OTHER DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES.
I was at a Republican straw poll last night in Connecticut. The head of the State Party served as moderator. All of the Republican candidates showed videos and/or had a spokesman represent them. Naturally, Ron Paul was last.
One of the Ron Paul videos was shown, and then the Ron Paul spokesman delivered his message. Many of the people who were not Ron Paul supporters weren't paying any particular attention until he began speaking about the executive orders whereby the president can accuse a person of being a terrorist, and that person can be held indefinitely without charges, and without access to a lawyer. The room grew quiet. Then he mentioned executive orders where government can confiscate your money, public transportation systems & c. Now, everybody was paying attention.
Finally, he told the crowd that we Ron Paul people would not support any of the other candidates. We are in a revolution and we are not going to stop until we take our country back. Of course, all the Ron Paul people were cheering at this point.
He said that we were tired of chosing between the lesser of two evils. And this pretty much sums up my position. We can't compromise at this point. We have been compromising for a hundred years. It's time to take a stand.
How did Dr. Paul do in CT?
How did the straw poll go?
A few things
First of all, I agree with someone else who said it's going to be Obama, and I'm willing to bet 100$ bucks it is.
Second, I am sick of people voting against the democratic runner. I am voting for my principles not my party. This will be the first time I can vote for president (I'm 19) and I'm not going to start a tradition of voting against my conscience.
How could anyone ask someone for the good of the country to vote against their conscience? I thought this is what we were fighting so hard against?
Third point is more of a question, but, is it impossible for Ron Paul to run in four years? I understand he'll be 76, but even Reagan was re-elected at 76. Considering the obvious future that there is going to be a major downturn in the economy, maybe people will start looking to an economist for the answer rather than a politician.
What do you think?
Helping to Restore the Republic.
Simmer Down and WAIT
Guys! Get a grip!
Let's not assume defeat before the contest, OK? Plenty can happen that may propel Dr. Paul to victory. Try and contain the defeatist attitude, will 'ya?
Other Republican candidates may drop out. Financial concerns are pressing down hard on two of the other campaigns. When another falls, and there are only 4, what excuse will the MSM have for excluding Ron?
Dr. Paul has just released his economic package (he should have mentioned it in the Fla debate), and the financial community is searching desperately for answers. Since the folks in the know on Wall Street favor Dr. Paul already (rightly so), I expect we will start hearing about his long-term solutions soon from the network "experts." He is the ONLY candidate, Rep or Dem, that has sensible, long-term answers!
According to the Florida Meetups, we have considerable presence in that state. Screw the "polls!" We all know how that scam works. When the pollsters call at 3pm, it's only going to be the "white-hairs" that answer! And that's IF the polls even include the good doctor as a choice. We've been through this "poll depression" thing before. Just Suck-It-Up and continue working 150% for the Revolution. Dr. Paul hasn't given up, and we shouldn't either!
You know, if you were out canvassing right now, you wouldn't have time to think so negative! Hell, grab a sign and stake out a busy intersection in your hometown! Call some friends. Go to the arcade/pool hall and talk to people. Make RANDOM phone calls from the phone book! I still believe there is plenty more to do, things that take minimum effort, but create maximum benefit.
Sitting at home whining on DailyPaul, assuming the worst, isn't one of them! Surely, you're smart enough to think of something BETTER to do today.
Excuse me, I'm going to canvas my precinct...

Both of you Above this post and below are full of pooh
Above, this is a plug to manipulate people into vote republican or ohh clinton. First I'll bet Obama over Clinton for 100 bucks. 2nd who gives a crap, no republican will win. They have done pissed us off and shown their true colors. Willing to commit fraud, voter suppression, lie , cheat and manipulate. Our votes aren't for sale and we won't be judged by God on how other people vote.
Below ~ Ron Paul did not say that.. He said "I wish they worried about it."
Piss off both of you wankers..
I would love to see....
....RP run as a Libertarian. They have the most savvy with regards to getting on the ballot in all the states and I've voted Libertarian since '76(I voted for RP in '88.) I've re-registered Republican here in California to vote fro RP on 2/5 but I will re-register Libertarian the next day. Having said that, I'd prefer that he get the Republican nomination, but it seems unlikely the powers that be will allow that to happen.
I don't believe that RP
I don't believe that RP intends to risk losing his congressional seat by running 3rd party. As he has said, the system is completely biased and undemocratic toward 3rd parties. If you think there is a media black out on him now, consider that he won't even be invited to any debates or interviews as a 3rd party candidate. The rules for state ballots and other campaigning considerations are also biased against 3rd parties. Its better to stay with the dying GOP and rebuild its base and its infrastructure.
I suspect he will focus on the larger movement and encourage the Revolution to run for elected offices and to take over the GOP and clean up their act. That would be the best strategy for the long term
Dr. Paul seemed to be leaving the door open wider
in the Florida debate on Thursday, when he said "I wish they would worry about it just in case" or something along those lines. Then yesterday I heard Alex Jones talking about it with a caller, and Alex almost said something, indicating he might have some kind of inside information, but then he said "I'm not going to tell you what I know...let's just say you don't have to keep your fingers crossed." I'm not exactly sure what that means, but it sounds good to me!!!
As far as RP's getting in race with a 3rd party allowing Hitlery to win, do you really think that would be worse than McInsane, Flip, Huckster or Ghouliani??? The dems and the reps are all the same, they all work for the CFR/NWO, and will only continue and accelerate the Bush agenda. They will all complete the destruction of America.
I could not even think of voting for anyone other than Dr. Paul even if I have to write him in. I hope it will not come down to that. His popularity is growing every day, and by November, he could have a majority on his side and win regardless of his party affiliation.
Not a Waste of time at all Sorry but you are dead wrong.
Just like Ron says .. it might keep them on their toes.
If we can strike the fear of Hillary in to the Republicans with the THREAT of a Ron Paul 3rd party bid they may just give in AND REALIZE that they would rather have a Constitutionalist Republican (who is likely to get the nomination of one or more major third partys as well) is the best way to FIRM up victory for Republicans in 08.
I for one will not vote for ANY of the other Republicans because the TRUTH IS THAT THE OTHER REPUBLICANS could be MUCH WORSE than even the witch from hell or Obama would ever be. They are more aggressive war hawks and probably have less concern for civil rights, all wanting to expand the drug war at home and wars over seas. Mitt wants a assault rifle ban just like Hillary, Huck wants a smoking ban and NAFTA hwy. McCain (though against torture) has said nothing about restoration of Habious Corpus or the 4th amendment and can not ballance his check book.
If Ron don't run in the end on any party ticket I will still vote for what I believe not vote against Hillary or Obama. I would probably vote for the LP or Constitution Party people. Sounds to me like your post is trying to imply that Ron Should drop out and then we should vote Republican no matter what. WRONG WRONG WRONG
I do not care if Ron Paul is on the Black Panther / White Power Islamo-fascist party ticket he will get my vote if he continues to run because hi is RIGHT and the others are WRONG!
Playing hardball is the only thing these Republicans seem to understand let them think the R3VOLUTION PARTY is going to be stealing votes away from them and the the most effective and informed grass roots movement in the world will be lost forever from the Republican party. All they have to do is vote for Dr. Paul and the Republicans will survive. If they do not our mission should be to infiltrate or replace them AND it will be a much easier job if they are not controlling the White House and we have 4 years to recruit Ron Paul Republicans and let some of the old guard die off and retire.
They will be demoralized after defeat in 08 and we can move in and take over any local GOP we want the same way we won 40 straw polls this year. That is 40 county parties we could have replaced with Ron Paul people. You need to stuff your anti 3rd party banter and help Ron seem like a threat to these guys.
I really do not want him to Run 3rd Party I want him to get the nod or return to Congress to continue searing the ship with a gang of other Congressmen Ron would endorse. But I would rather see that with a demoralized, defeated and defunct Republican party to be taken over by us. So if Ron don't run I will vote for Jessie Ventura over Mitt or those other clowns and the Republicans need to pay for their failure to pick a real hero like Ron Paul.
Hmmm
The way I see it, the Republican party and the Democrat party are the same (except for Ron Paul) and if the Republican party loses, no big loss as far as "they" are concerned. All this tug of war is just election games set up for "we the people" to play so we "think" we are involved. The polls are owned, the parties are owned, the air waves are owned, the judges are owned, everyone can be bought off (except for Ron Paul) and the only hope we have is to spread the word far enough to overpower a huge, huge power.
Four years from now is not our "hope." Now is our "hope." The young people with this movement think it has just started. Bull corn. This fight has been going on long enough that Ron Paul has finally figured out how to win. That takes practice and he has put in the footwork and thought to realize he had to run in the enemies camp (the two party system) in order to make any headway at all and even he is surprised that we have been this strong. We are this strong because we have a lot of experience listening for the past 30 years and trying to get this done before, just like Ron. Glad the young people are so optimistic that this is just the beginning and just give us 4 more years, but you better work it out now. The opposition is not sitting around either and they too are growing and getting smarter every day. We have given them so much time, they now own everybody and everything we listen to.
completely agree
I also feel the republicans need to realize they can't win without us.
"we fear change, especially nickels"
You're delusional if you think Hillary is worse than any other
This is the misconception from which I've recently been awakened. Before Dr. Paul woke me up and taught me what was going on, I was a militant, "foaming at the mouth" anti-Hillary voter. But I now realize that all of the other candidates are being fronted by the Council on Foreign Relations, and I mean ALL! Clinton, Obama, Edwards, McCain, Huckabee, Romney and Giuliani all have ties to the CFR. So there are really only two choices in this presidential race: Dr. Paul or the CFR. So stop drinking the kool-aid offered to you by the (CFR-controlled) mainstream media and thinking that you have any other choices... you don't! Now let's get back to work and win some more supporters for Dr. Paul... He's our only hope!
we know they are all the same, all CFR
but your average, everyday Rep. voter thinks Hillary is much worse, so if she were to win (God forbid Ron doesn't), we could infiltrate the GOP much easier in the next 4 years because they become desperate for a base. Don't get me wrong, I definitely believe Ron can win a brokered convention, but there is much work to do and not much time.

Get ready to run for office. You have your head on right, so keep talking. Louder, louder.
Keep the MESSAGE ALIVE!!!!!
Everyone please donate what you can to the campaign to keep the message alive. He needs money to stay in the race. Work some overtime, take a bagged lunch to work or school, have a garage sale,etc...There are so many ways to save or raise money. I will work an extra shift and donate that days pay. We need to canvass, talk to everyone and encourage supporters to donate and spread the message. This isn't lip service. I am a precinct captain and went to the homes of 726 republicans and now canvass other precincts with my meet up group. We can all do so much, we must believe.
I hear negative polls, media mentioning all candidates except Ron Paul. I shake my head and keep pressing on. I change the message on my car rear view window every week. Today:"I will vote to save America from her own self destruction. Will you? Vote Ron Paul". My other car says "Stand up for America. Vote Ron Paul for President". May God have mercy on us all! O I will write his name in, if not on the ballot.
Go Ron Paul
